Should be a pretty good game between two solid teams. Both with offenses that score in bunches and defenses that don't allow much. Believe Caldwell's starting defense has only allowed something like 7 or 8 TD's in the regular season. They held a Harvest Prep team to their 2nd lowest point total all season, and kept those extremely fast and talented backs to less than 4 yards a carry. Would love some input on Trimble's offense. Who their leaders are, statistics, etc.

Those stats don't include Saturday's game - I will update later tonight.
Re: #2 Trimble (11-0) vs #3 Caldwell (11-0) - week 12
This is one of Caldwell's better teams in the last decade. The Redskins can move the ball. Whether they can contain Trimble's offense is the big question. I think they'll be a good test for the Tomcats. Wouldn't surprise me to see a CHS win.

Calpreps says 35-26 Trimble. They're usually in the ballpark, so that tells me the team that makes the fewest mistakes will have a great chance to win. Go G-Town!!

Creating turnovers will be key for the Redskins. They've done a solid job in that department all season long. Theyll have to avoid some of the mistakes they made early on against Harvest Prep. They did a pretty good job getting everyone involved with a little more balanced offense. Think they'll need to do the same this week.

If they make mistakes the Cats will make them pay. Take that to the bank. What exactly do you mean by a balanced offense? If you call QB left and QB right with the occasional hand off to the tailback balanced Caldwell is in trouble. I watched a few clips online and noticed when Caldwell does throw, its to the same guy everytime. The QB has a weak arm from what I seen so I doubt Trimble will have to worry about the deep ball. That being said I think Caldwell is going to be in for a long night. I dont think they have faced a team that plays smash mouth football the way Trimble does. Good luck and good health to both teams I hope I can make the trip to watch this one.
JUST MY THOUGHTS GUYS!!

By balanced, I mean like they did last week, where he threw for almost 200 yards and 2 TD's. Caldwell is a run first offense, and the QB is a hell of an athlete, so yes he does run quite a bit. I don't think we'll ever see them drop back and throw it 25 times in a game, but just enough to keep defenses honest. And let's be honest, most QB's have a favorite target. There were several receivers that had solid games or made big plays last week. Trimble is a hell of a team. Hoping for a great game.Wizard wrote:JakeFromStateFarm wrote:Creating turnovers will be key for the Redskins. They've done a solid job in that department all season long. Anyone know where New Lex parks cars for playoff games? Looking at the overhead on Google, it looks like there are about 30 parking spaces near the stadium. Lol.

1st It is a older stadium and at best the seating is fair and there is very little parking. my advise get there early and park on the street near the stadium.buckman wrote:Anyone know where New Lex parks cars for playoff games? I've always heard, and recently read in the newspaper, that New Lex's parking for football is atrocious and should be ridiculed. Worst in the MVL.
Nonetheless, if I get there at 1 in the afternoon I should be good for a prime spot... anything after 3 and you're wishing you listened on radio.

Your gonna have to park and walk a little in New Lex......
I'd rather Park and walk than have my team sitting home though so no reason for the Tomcat faithful to complain.

usually the farther you have to walk the easier it is to get out. you park close you're stuck in traffic. I think its a great place for This game to be played. Trimble wins...

I've read some negative posts about the venue for this game, and while we could all find negativity if we wanted to look hard enough, the atmosphere for the student athletes from Trimble and Caldwell is going to be something they will never forget. The stadium set up makes it one of the best atmospheres in high school football for student athletes and that is what high school football is about. I have heard several athletes over the years share their thoughts on how the atmosphere at games has changed in a negative manner due to bigger and better facilities. Let's just hope for a great game where athletes stay injury free and enjoy the experience. May GOD Bless

Agree. I miss the old field down by the river at Meigs. Hands down my favorite place to watch a game.Softball7 wrote:I've read some negative posts about the venue for this game, and while we could all find negativity if we wanted to look hard enough, the atmosphere for the student athletes from Trimble and Caldwell is going to be something they will never forget. Stop by Sikorski's in Glouster before and after the game! They will be having food and drink specials all night.

This will be a perfect place to play for the "Rutter Tuff" Tomcats. The poor parking and bad seating fit right in with what they are use to. Now if they will just pull up the turf and let them play on mud all will be good. Go Kitties!
