Final?
With no chatter promptly, it's not a good sign. Was really hoping for an iron win. It's frustrating to abandon your bread & butter(ground game). However, the score indicates a need to do so. Jackson did this against IRONTON to secure the win. With DeSales, they probably ran into a defense that was able to push the run into the middlev& control it. Just guessing. (I just paused & checked Athens & tri-valley score. Athens fans said DeSales was up next).
I would have loved to see Jackson -VS- Athens in regional final.
GREAT SEASON IRONMEN!

Have to disagree 07.....they didn't turn into a passing team until very late into the 4th and DeSales was just on everything that resembled a run. The pass play as we were driving in the 2nd was bad but other than that one pass play....didn't have any problem. Would've liked to see the play DeSales used in the 2nd before their 2nd TD. That play over the middle always seems to work.
Regardless, credit DeSales. Their players were just where they were supposed to be and the got low and wrapped up very well. Had a couple great players on defense who were pretty dominating and everyone one else very good. On offense they were very crisp with some break away speed we haven't seen.
Jackson played well and represented. They were as physical as DeSales. I watched early for the big push at the LOS from DeSales oline and it just wasn't there. DeSales could only do the wide sweep (and it was tough to defend and finish)...but they broke 2 long runs and had a couple big over the top passes that hurt us.
After viewing I just feel that we needed a perfect game to win that. Our 1st drive was perfect but also forces an adjustment and DeSales did adjust. The majority of the passes were late and due to time issues.

Chillicothe was a good site for a playoff. Perfect size for tonight's game.

You may be right 92 but I had to listen over the radio so I can't speak for first hand experience

Good season Jackson. Once you make it to week 12 in D3, things are extremely tough. I watched a lot of the Athens game on TV and those are 2 very good teams and I think Desales will have a hard time stopping them

Just there as a fan I just never got the vibe that we were ever getting away from the run. IMO throughout there were likely a few more runs that maybe should've been passes than vice versa...but the boys played great and really represented. I believe the better football team won.Ironmannut07 wrote:Ironman92 wrote:Have to disagree 07.....they didn't turn into a passing team until very late into the 4th and DeSales was just on everything that resembled a run. Sounds like a good game. Congrats to Jackson on a fine season.
Re: #3 Jackson (11-0) vs #7 DeSales (9-2)
Great season for the Jackson Ironmen. They should all be proud of what they accomplished this year. Only the sixth 10-0 season in school history, only the third Jackson team to win 11 games, and brought Jackson its 23rd SEOAL championship. Hard to say goodbye to a great senior class, but they certainly left their mark on the Jackson football program. Now it's time for the underclassmen to work hard this off-season and get ready for another great run next year.
As for the game tonight, I thought Jackson played well for the most part. They played hard, they were physical, and they were not intimidated by DeSales. They went toe-to-toe with the Stallions all night. The Jackson defense did give up a couple big plays, but they also put Jackson in a position to take the lead in the 2nd half. The offense moved the ball very well all night, but several drives stalled in DeSales territory. The Ironmen trailed 17-14 and had the ball near the DeSales 30 a couple times, but just couldn't quite finish. The FG that DeSales was able to get right before the half really changed the complexion of the game because it put them up by two scores. That ended up being too much to overcome.
Good luck to DeSales in the next round. I think Athens will be too much for them to handle, but it should be a good game.

No. Athens will win going away IMO.
Bulldogs may face tests in the Final 4 and state title game, but have already conquered their toughest test in Region 9.
TV would beat DeSales by 14+ IMO.

Well great season, tough loss to end it.
No real complaints over all, I love that group of kids, they played their guts out.
The first drive was dominant a thing of beauty.
Couple key plays was the long run (on 3rd down I think) by DeSales to tie it up 7-7, and the turnover on the backwards screen pass. Great effort just a few bigger plays for DeSales, congrats to their team and fans.
Good luck to Athens and DeSales next week, I will now put my SE Ohio hat on and root for the Bulldogs.
