Gallipolis reportedly headed to OVC

Post by loganlocos »

The Logan Daily News is reporting that Gallipolis is set to accept an invitation to join the Ohio Valley Conference, leaving Jackson and Logan as the final founding members of Ohio's oldest continually operating non-city league.

The departure of Gallia Academy likely signals the end of the SEOAL. It was believed that a omg as the three remaining founding members held together the league would survive, but without any of the three that appears unlikely.

I thought the SEOAL might hold together long enough to get a couple more members (Marietta and a WV team). This will certainly send the other 3 teams into panic mode.

Logan needs to try again with the MSL. About the only option.
I assume Jackson talks to the TVC again.
Warren Local probably contacts TVC and MVL.

With all the rumors about the ECOL, Marietta might be a team without a league in the next couple years as well.

A Logan Jackson Circlville Logan elm Chillicothe Vinton county would be a good league
Imo Logan should move north
Or find a way to start a league with canal circleville Logan elm Chillicothe , or surrounding schools like Groveport bloom carrol Hamilton township

Bye bye SEOAL......
I bet Jackson ends up in the OVC as well.

Warren may have a very small shot at the TVC but don't hold your breath.

Jackson will not go the way of the OVC

How the OVC should look once Gallia joins

DIV 1
Gallia
Ironton
Portsmouth
Fairland

DIV 2
Coal Grove
Chesapeake
South Point
Rock Hill

This way Ironton fans won't cry about all the conference games that won't help with playoffs.

Why not? The OVC is shaping up to be one heck of a league.

I don't see enough conference members supporting Warren and Jackson joining the TVC in any type of reconfiguration.

I don't think Jackson will try again. I do think Warren will though.

Going Indy, I.M.O. in football could do a lot of good for Jackson.

Maybe the SCOL could pick-up Jackson and Logan and create 2 5-team divisions. That or dump East Clinton (D-V) and only add Jackson. Traveling would be the same distance, just more conference games. East Clinton could join the SHAC with Georgetown to make an even 12 teams in the SHAC and the SHAC could add football as a sport with Fayetteville-Perry, Manchester, and West Union and Eastern Brown and North Adams both have JH football programs that could add Varsity programs in a few years. Just a wild thought that just occurred to me. Doubt it'll happen though.
A more rational though, Warren alone could probably be able to get into the TVC. Maybe Jackson, gets in if the TVC goes to 3 divisions. Logan will probably be independent if they can't get into the MSL. I do like Gallia Academy joining the OVC, but I always wished the SEOAL would've held out and added Athens and Marietta back. Maybe the SEOAL could still hold out if Marietta and maybe even Athens (not gonna happen but we can still dream lol) decided to return.

I saw this coming. It's unfortunate but gallia must do what they have to do. They're is no way jackson applies to the TVC Ohio by themselves. They would get zero points from the tvc . Who wants to watch a jackson vs Alex , jackson vs river valley really .... The soc2 is Jackson's best option , it would make for some awesome
Matchups and gates. Jackson would be fine as an IndependAnt for now. I think Alot of schools around Columbus , Dayton, cincy area would like to play jackson.

Can't believe Gallipolis will drop out of SEOAL. Today's school officials are not concerned about the tradition of the SEOAL. You have winning seasons and losing seasons. That's no excuse to withdraw from the state's oldest existing grid league.

Heard earlier today Fairland has been penalized by the OHSAA for illegal recruiting. Banned 4 years from league play in OVC and will not be permitted to play in any post-season tournaments, including girls sports.

I like the idea of playing some different teams and going to fresh new places,I kinda liked that trip to Loudenville even though it was a haul, but I know its a headache for the AD when scheduling esp.for all the different sports. It might mean some bye weeks are ahead, which might not be bad if a team is all banged up
