Week 11. #7 Symmes Valley @ #2 Trimble
Re: Week 11. #7 Symmes Valley @ #2 Trimble
Interesting, I hadn't heard any of this. I tend to agree that playing at home has advantages, regardless of the field condition. Moving to another venue could only serve to benefits Symmes which would take away the advantage of home field that Trimble had fought hard to win.

They are asking for bricks and tarps....
They are putting in a serious effort, I hope they can dry it up and keep it dry.

This game doesn't matter where it's being played at, Us Tomcats will go there and make it Our home for the night, I don't look for this to be much of a game , just like the rest of the season

Hey Enforcer, I think if you would hit the streets of G-Town and start asking people where they want the game played you will find out real quick it does matter where its played. I think the effort the people put in to cover the field is a pretty good indication that it matters. I agree the outcome would be the same no matter where its played but the Cats want to do it on there "TURF".

Gotta love how the community is out there tarping that field up so they can play on it.

Hey, I went outside this morning and my woodpile and and my tractor was uncovered. Has anyone seen a couple big blue tarps? And the old tires I had on the roof of my trailer are missing too!

Theres a big one for starters on the girls softball field and im sure supporters in the area will donate to cover the field. I have one myself they can have
I see you on here talking a bunch of garbage. I seen a lot of people at the field last night but dont believe I seen you. I was told they were taking the tarps off tonight and could use some help. I look forward to seeing you there.

Re: Week 11. #7 Symmes Valley @ #2 Trimble
It will be rainy/drizzle/cold all day and night ... I know I would push for my team to play on turf, especially since they are going to be playing on it next week if they win.
Maybe I just don't fully understand the love affair of playing at home. I wouldn't care if they moved this Athens/Granville game to Cleveland, I just want the team to win whether its at home or played in a parking lot.
A muddy field posses all sorts of problems for a team like Trimble, who is clearly the favorite. How many great teams in the past (before they had turf) were upset by underdogs in the playoffs? Probably hundreds - and all of them probably said the same thing "had it not been raining and muddy we would have crushed that team!" Not to mention playing in a mud pit presents other risks as well. Your body and feet are slipping and sliding and you end up getting hit and falling at all sorts of different angles. If one of the 'Cats main offensive weapons were to get injured because of playing in that? Wow.
Last but not least. Trimble has Austin Downs, one of the best receivers in the state in DVII. Put him on the turf and let him to go to work. Playing in Glouster Saturday, if the field is still in bad shape, basically takes away one of the 'Cats most dangerous weapons. I just don't see the reasoning behind such a decision.

I recall us(NY) losing to Alex in 2009 playing in basically a lake. Alex seemed to love playing in that, but our speed advantage was out the window and we got smacked 21-0 in a slog. Hope that's not the case for the cats!
Go Cats, Dogs, and Bucks!

Regardless of playing surface, Trimble will win this one pretty easily. If the field is in real bad shape, the cats will line up in the wishbone and run it down their throats and still win by a large margin.
Re: Week 11. #7 Symmes Valley @ #2 Trimble
Power run versus power run? Now that is worth the price of admission! Good luck Symmes. I hope it's a mud pit, but not to the point it would be hazardous to the players. Clean jerseys are ugly jerseys!Orange and Brown wrote:Regardless of playing surface, Trimble will win this one pretty easily.
