Re: Week 11: #7 Liberty Union @ #2 Wheelersburg
LU struggled against West at LU winning with only seconds on the clock. I'm sure they have improved since that game or they better have or it could be a long night for them.
Two years ago Lu sent the house on every play knowing burg had no running game. They will see different this year. Burg can line up and play smash mouth football or they can spread you out and beat you with a pass.
Burg must though take care of the ball better. I'm sure the weather was a factor in the last game.
Look for May to have another big game running the ball.

The Burg has a complete package this year...Their running game is as good as any in the area and they'll burn you on play action once they get it going....Their defense is as good as the stats show and their special teams can score...They are playing at home and it's probably the toughest place to play in the area....All things considered, I expect them to win handedly and represent like the SOC Champs can and should...Best wishes on your run....

Man - I've been trying to get an account on here since 2012. Looking forward to making the trip down to Wheelersburg again on Sat. You guys were great hosts last time and your stadium is really nice. I've seen 5 of the Pirates game films. Your offense is definitely more balanced than the last time LU played there. Looks to me like a pretty good game. Do you guys have any injured?

There were a couple early/mid season injuries, but everyone is back in the lineup now. How about for LU?MidlineCrisis wrote:Man - I've been trying to get an account on here since 2012. LU lost a DT early in the season. One receiver got hurt last week, I'm not sure of his status for this week. Otherwise, normal dings and dents that every team has at this point. Normally, 16 or 17 seniors start depending on the schemes. I think 5 of them started as sophomores the last time we played.good question? how healthy is LU coming into this game and how many of the 23 seniors are starters?

I don't believe that private schools are even close to representing 48% of all the schools playing football in the state. The percentages are way out of whack because the private schools have an advantage over the public schools. Numbers don't lie. It is not a level playing field for the public schools. Let's not pretend that it is. I personally would like to see the state championships split up into public and private state champs. Other states do this already.
I like bulldog already.

i'll tell you this much burg is very physical, extremely well conditioned, quick, they make few mistakes, and if you are not used to defending that hurry up, you are up that ole creek. if the talent is similar I think burg will win games where the opponent is not vastly better.i see burg winning this game, could get crowded in this region.

Burg is loaded with talent this year. IMO better than last year's team. I think it's because of the experience a lot of these kids got last year. We have a lot of seniors too. This should be a physical game and the Lions better come ready to hit and be hit. Burg has big kids that are quick and hit hard. Ask that West kid that went over the middle last week. Burg will be primed and ready to go. The ED will be rockin and rollin. You're Tiger Bait wrote:i'll tell you this much burg is very physical, extremely well conditioned, quick, they make few mistakes, and if you are not used to defending that hurry up, you are up that ole creek. if the talent is similar I think burg will win games where the opponent is not vastly better.i see burg winning this game, could get crowded in this region.

Another thing I was very shocked to see was Burg switching formations in the no huddle. I was impressed with the way the kids handled it and how effective it was.
