For me i never said that their talent drops off next year.. I stated I was not impressed with their same returning starters on the defense side......

Valley has beaten West and Minford maybe 8-9 times combined in the last 20 years and have had a decided advantage Friday nights during that time period. Valley has also taken many beatings from NW during that time and obviously that has not translated to high school success. Coach Crabtree oversees the program and wants things done a certain way, he looks for improvement and that things are being done to transition them to the High School program. Valley competed very well against Minford and Burg at the end of the season and showed obvious improvement. Valley has shown that a 13-14 year old kid doesn't necessarily look the same as 17-18 year old kid. I've coached many of these kids throughout the years and I'm not concerned about the future of Valley football.

Could NOT agree with you more. Kids grow/develop in many different ways between the ages 14-18. The coaching has to be done in a way that every player on the team develops in Jr. High, not just the starting 11. There are still some teams that do not understand that the SOC is decided at the Varsity level, NOT Jr. High!!!

My 8th grade year at valley we only won 1 game and that was a close win over northwest. Our senior year we went 10-0 and was valleys first team to go to the playoffs. One of my biggest regrets is that I stopped playing by then.

Heard Valley will have all their starters back including #23 and #50

Yeah. But how effective will they be? #23 started against burg, but was in obvious pain and couldn't play long. Hope these boys get healthy.

Junior high scores mean zip. When I played we got beat by northwest in 8 th grade by a touchdown. Then beat them 56 0 my senior year. Having said that, valley had three years with some serious talent. That may not be the case in the coming years but they will win their share of games.

Back to the game at hand.....

Minford comes out ready to play and gets Valley on their heels early. Minford's O and D line played very well last Friday night. They need to have a big game tonight against Valley.

Minford 24
Valley 23

Valley goes for 2 late in the 4th quarter but comes up short!

I don't think you are to far off with this statement.... I am curious to see how Valley responds to loosing once again.... they lost 2 of their last 4 games..... I say Minford wins is a close one....

Just an observations, but in the early season, all I read about on here was how Minford couldn't take care of the ball. Since the freshman took over at QB, you don't hear about that anymore.

Well in the Sr. defense, it has to be tough to not ever played Qb and just to get thrown out there and be expected to fill the role. The freshman has been playing that position since pee-wee.

I wasn't trying to put the other QB down, I was just making an observation. I am sure the coaches have gone over that many times in practice and the importance has been driven home over and over and over...lol

Could be a couple of reasons for that... first when you put a freshman QB in you automatically "dumb" down the offense and get rid of the bells and whistles which include the more risky plays (don't take offense I didnt say Minford's offense was dumb) and second as someone mentioned the Freshman has been playing QB longer than the person he replaced, just not in HS

I didn't take it that way.

Also, lets face it putting a freshman out there week one, probably isn't the best decision either, but he had an awesome game against Waverly (34-0) that I'm sure not too many expected.

Does anyone have a link to where this game will be televised? VSn or HS Cube?

Just seen the worst call I ever seen in my life. Valley just got hosed bad. Minford fumbles the ball in their own end zone. Valley jumps on it. One official calls touch town and other official calls it a touchback. Said valley fumbled the ball out of the end zone. So they gave Minford gets a 1st down at the 20
