Wasn't Bartrum the Coach of the year last year in the league? Maybe that is why you saw the starters in the entire game?

Amen to that! I know the varsity starters are glad to be allowed to play a full four quarter game for the second time this season, but I'm sure If Meigs had pulled their starters, Athens would have done the same.
I totally agree

The only reason this is the first time you have seen this is because it was Week 7 and not earlier in the season...The Bulldogs are now in Full Play-Off Mode. They are preparing for a Play-Off Run and a deep one. This is the culmination of Several years of hard work.

You cannot prepare for the Play-Offs while also fearing injuries...injuries happen. How many times have we seen NFL teams sit starters late in the season only to get knocked out of the Play-Offs in one game? Athens needs to play 4 quarters of football from here on out...

This had no barring on the game.

I would guess that would be better than a regular fish in a big pond and the pond is draining really fast. ;)

(I don't know why I felt the need to respond to that. I could not care less what league Athens is in.)
Teach1 ol Boiler loves to throw that argument around...
Athens has 297 boys while Meigs has 218 boys...

Yet, I have never seen him post it on a VC/and anyone else (Not Named Athens)?
VC has 290 boys. It is an easy argument for weak minds to make.

It is also a reason why you NEVER see a Nelsonville-York player/coach/fan say such a thing. They embrace their program, love to be the smallest school in the Ohio because the UPside is so big for them. And if you're wondering, Nelsonville-York has 148 boys...

It will be funny when this class graduates because Athens/VC both could fall to Division 4, making 3 D4 schools, 3 D5 schools and 1 D6...

That is exactly what happened . as long as Meigs kept their starters in Athens was keeping theirs in.
Slopping around in mud for the equivalent of a half qt. (running clock) is not preparing for playoffs.

If Meigs left their starters in then Athens may as well too. The Bulldogs are going to lay the wood to every team
In the TVC this season. It just happen to be Meigs week to take the thumping.. Suck it up it and start getting ready for next week. People amaze me sometimes with the crying and complaining ... Refs did this , coaches said or did that it cracks me up... Some funny stuff on here sometimes.

O it will be hilarious when this class graduates...
Play them starters every tick of the clock, play them seniors that don't play varsity in the JV games.
Ye don't prepare for next year as everyone else does.
That my friends makes it just a flash in the pan.
Believe me the tide WILL turn and payback will be had by many

The Athens JV has played in 5 Games of the 7. They have had a lot of experience on the field that many JV teams have not.
Athens is now preparing for something THIS year, and will take care of next year when they cross that bridge.
Athens has been a solid program for 6 years now...flash in the pan?

Will there be a fall off from class to class? Of course, you don't graduate the best class in school history and not expect some fall off.
For once in a longtime, Athens has built a program, with solid coaches and great training facilities...they will not be this special like this group, but they will be competitive...

What if Athens doesn't fall off and go 8-2 or 9-1 next year? They're preparing for the playoffs. So what? They kept their starters in the game. Maybe the other team (Meigs) should've manned up, bit their lips and kept playing hard. You know, the way older generations used to.

Don't worry. Athens brings back its line and two of the top athletes in seo. I would be more worried about Meigs. They had very low numbers

JV-
I think the Bulldogs will be just fine next year. I would gladly take an 8-2 or 9-1 Season after this Class Graduates...
Heath Wiseman and Zacciah Saltzman will step up as Offensive Weapons with tons of Experience. (Wiseman is in the OHSAA Record Book!)

I gotta say, if I was gonna just be a flash in the pan...then I would def. want to do it like this class has...WHAT A FLASH! The Class of SEO Football. 4 Play-Offs WINS, League Championships, some College Educations paid for through athletics...NEWS FLASH...that is one heckuva 4 Years of High School...

And this Payback you speak of?
This Athens team is taking out the frustrations for the Bulldogs of the 1990's...

Others have been there before and didn't treat fellow league teams in this manner.
I understand Athens not being accustomed to this though.

So other teams have been there before and they didn't treat league members like Athens has been doing? So what did they do take their starters out after a quarter instead of at halftime? Oh wait I guess you're only talking about the Meigs game where Athens let their starters play 2 series on offense and 3 on defense against the Meigs starters during the shortened 2nd half. Jason don't confuse the Meigs players, who did man up and played hard til the end of the game, with a poser named bigits who whines and cries about all things ATHENS.
