The JV has even lost to freshman teams, so what. Is there a lot of kids playing up on varsity would be the question which would make the difference. I agree this year is this year and worry about next year than.

Athens will be top two or three next year in the TVC. They will compete for the league title. It is foolish and wishful thinking to think otherwise. This year's team is a powerhouse and the teams from southern ohio should enjoy watching their playoff runs (just like we do in Trimble and Jackson). They may lose games next year, but I seriously doubt there will be the type of payback that this years Athens team is dishing out.

Good luck to the Bulldogs in the playoffs.

(that post does not mean I will want to beat them every chance the Spartans get to compete against them or anyone else.)

Go Alex.

I'm a die hard meigs fan and I don't see what the problem was, two teams playing hard, yes we ran into one dam good team, very good players. both teams played hard to the finish, its football and Athens is getting ready for a run ay the playoff, I wish them well and good luck down the road, hope they make it deep into the playoffs, along with the rest of the teams in southeast ohio.

Amen to that! I know the varsity starters are glad to be allowed to play a full four quarter game for the second time this season, but I'm sure If Meigs had pulled their starters, Athens would have done the same.
yeah um wouldn't it be the responsibility of the team with the 49 point lead to initiate pulling the starters..?

As long as Adams is the coach. Athens will win at least 5 games a year and be in the top half of the TVC. Finishing 3rd or 4th in a down year. Big fish Small pond!

Athens only tried short yardage plays. They didn't try big plays

I've heard from the inside this will be Adams last year and by his choice, but could you blame him? How can you ever match this?

I also see where Steubenville lost again at home last week. So maybe they aren't as good as they were in the past. That's back to back home losses for them.

Let's see a guy who does nothing but berate Athens football now claims to have "Iniside Information" about the future of it's head coach and program. Does there not need to be some level of filtration when it comes to posters just spouting off about anything they want to without an ounce of proof, or thread of truth to it.  I had also heard form a very good source that Athens78 was a bed wetter who was never good enough to see the playing field as an athlete and has resorted to badmouthing Athens Football as a way to make him feel better about his inadequacies. Again It come from a "very good source from the inside" Guess it Must Be True.

St Joseph has won 18 state championships in New Jersey. 11 state titles in the past 13 or 14 years

I would guess that would be better than a regular fish in a big pond and the pond is draining really fast. ;)

(I don't know why I felt the need to respond to that. I could not care less what league Athens is in.)
Teach1 ol Boiler loves to throw that argument around...
Athens has 297 boys while Meigs has 218 boys...

Yet, I have never seen him post it on a VC/and anyone else (Not Named Athens)?
VC has 290 boys. It is an easy argument for weak minds to make.

It is also a reason why you NEVER see a Nelsonville-York player/coach/fan say such a thing. They embrace their program, love to be the smallest school in the Ohio because the UPside is so big for them. And if you're wondering, Nelsonville-York has 148 boys...

It will be funny when this class graduates because Athens/VC both could fall to Division 4, making 3 D4 schools, 3 D5 schools and 1 D6...
O it will be hilarious when this class graduates...
Play them starters every tick of the clock, play them seniors that don't play varsity in the JV games.
Ye don't prepare for next year as everyone else does.
That my friends makes it just a flash in the pan.
Believe me the tide WILL turn and payback will be had by many
Meigs is going to pay Athens back? How, they can't keep the parents, coaches and everyone else from fighting long enough for kids to become Sr's!! Athens cupboard isn't exactly bare after this year. They have enough talent to beat average TVC teams!

Do you ever check out anything before you state them? The team that Stubenville just lost to has won 13 of the last 15 NJ State Titles and 5-6 in a row. No slouch in that opponent.

First off if Stbyville does lose it is going to be at home since they play 9 games there and have already played there one away game. Second of all it was a hardfought close game in which the bigred were outcoached by a perinal power. You should change your name to againstathens78

St.Joseph does have an impressive resume alright, problem is they are a Div. 6 school and are one of 24 state champions in NJ, talk about watered down! Sure hope Ohio never has that many. That being said they still must be pretty good to beat the Big Red at Death Valley!
