The Tigers need to win this game, most of the top 8 Teams are playing what appears to be winnable games for them.

Excited to hear how this one ends up. Ironton could have their hands full, but I could also see a St. Charles team that comes out flat after being shut out 40-0 and knocked out of playoff contention.cg-ironton fan wrote:agree need this 1 bad , looks like they will have to play in cold and rain!!! alot eyeballs on this game to see just where ironton stands since week 1.ohbuckeye2 wrote:The Tigers need to win this game, most of the top 8 Teams are playing what appears to be winnable games for them.

St. Charles has a few good playmakers, one being their quarterback who is a load. Pretty good runner and about 6ft 230. He throws decently, but more of a threat on the ground than the air. Also their line and over all team size is much smaller than last year. This may play to Irontons advantage if their big boys are able to open up some holes for their backs.
And Luers from Indiana will be a good test for Hartley. However they won't be as good as Muskegeon Catholic Central and Coldwater. The last two times Hartley played this team, Hartley pulled the starters by the 4th quarter because the games were out of hand( in favor of Hartley). Luers has a divisiin one quarterback and one of the top receivers in the nation(offers from OSU, MSU, and many more). If Hartley can keep them from making big plays, they should be able to control the clock and game.

Ironton in play-off contention, currently in 4 spot Region 17, coming off a bye week, nicks and bruises healed up, playing in the Tank.
St. Charles, out of play-off contention, coming off a convincing loss to DeSales where not much went right for them, traveling south on a bus for 3-hours.
I like Ironton in solid win, comfortable margin.
St. Charles like most parochial schools will be fundamental, will play hard, won't make a lot of mistakes, so unless Ironton has some turnovers, mistakes or let's up a big play or two on special teams should cruise in this one.

Re: WEEK 7 COLUMBUS ST. CHARLES @IRONTON
That will be the key Ironton not beating them self's with unforced turnovers and penalties such as holding or late hits.
This team has improved vastly and shows it's self only getting better.

It's really not a big game at all. Ironton is playing a team that has won one game this season.

IRONTON IS ALSO PLAYING A FOOTBALL TEAM THAT IS INCREDIBLY LARGER ENROLLMENT SIZE.AND HAVE YOU SEEN ST CHARLIE'S SCHEDULE.

Re: WEEK 7 COLUMBUS ST. CHARLES @IRONTON
I don't understand why SE Ohio people are so fixated on enrollment figures. St. Charles is very strong academically, and not known for their football. Consistently the least successful football program in CCL history. A good division 4, 5, or 6 team should be able to beat an average division 2 team 9 out of 10 times. You're Tiger Bait wrote:IRONTON IS ALSO PLAYING A FOOTBALL TEAM THAT IS INCREDIBLY LARGER ENROLLMENT SIZE.AND HAVE YOU SEEN ST CHARLIE'S SCHEDULE.

Might seem a little funny but some area schools in Columbus think their loosing records are better than a southeastern Ohio school. So the Tigers will prove them wrong.
Re: WEEK 7 COLUMBUS ST. CHARLES @IRONTON
Let's see; according to the resident B. Hartley fan, St. Charles is not known for their football]. OK, but they lost to Hartley by 3 and Eastmoor by 10. Even if St. Charles made it that close with a very late score, they're not exactly a push-over for another D5 team. Ironton can win this game, but no turnovers deep and get the backs outside.

St Charles will never be confused with a football power, year in and out. They are not real good this year. Ironton has Cotten better every week, and barring turnovers and silly stuff should fare very well in this one.

Re: WEEK 7 COLUMBUS ST. CHARLES @IRONTON
Keep in mind that Hartley vs St. Charles was the first of only 3 league games. Both schools are big rivals being only 2 miles apart. Hartley racked up 500 yards of offense, but kept St. Charles in the game with penalties, turnovers, and not finishing drives. St. Charles played hard that game, but I don't see them coming out playing hard against Ironton because their playoff dreams and league championship hopes are over. I think in their minds they don't really have to much to play for.Ptguard wrote:Let's see; according to the resident B. Hartley fan, St. Charles is not known for their football]. Will any Ironton fans be posting updates on this game?
Ironton coaches must believe they have a strong chance of playing Hartley in the playoffs, considering there were a few at the game last week.

Re: WEEK 7 COLUMBUS ST. CHARLES @IRONTON
going back to the comment about being fixated on enrollment. and I have no idea who even made the comment. it's not important. I will leave the word catholic out of the equation. but how many here their team has actually played the Columbus bishop Hartley's, the desales, bishop Watterson's, and the like. i'll refer at the time to Columbus desales. where we may have a couple of really big guys, they's have dozens, we'd substitute individuals, they's sub 7/8/9 guys at a time. everybody big and agile. nobody that was playing offense, defense and special teams.there is way more to these school's than 1 may think.they are loaded with talented kids. and generally hand picked. you may have a team not doing as well, in the Columbus area. say it is st. Charles this year. but that may be because there was a mass exodus to Hartley or bishop ready to a loaded program.anyhow ironton always has played these programs, that's how you get prepared. if you haven't yet look at st. charles' schedule. there is a reason they are 1 win right now.----------I know that this is a team ironton can beat. but they'll have to play very good fundamental football, wrap up on tackles, handle the rock, mix it up on offense.and likely have to pound out a running game in the rain. but hey, that's fighting tiger football anyway-------minus the mud now.
