Week 6: Chesapeake (3-2) v Fairland (0-5) -- THE RIVALRY

Post by dragonsfan24 »

Since 1949, the Dragons and the Panthers have lined up on the gridiron each year. Bragging rights, pride, and the occasional OVC title are on the line when these two teams take the field. Until 1958, the teams shared a field until the "new" Fairland HS had a field of their own. The 2014 game marks the 66th meeting of the two teams, with Chesapeake leading the series 34-30-1. Players, coaches, and fans of both sides will determine success of a season based on the outcome of this game.
"Rally for old Chesapeake" and "Fall in line for Fairland" because it's the 66th installment of ''THE RIVALRY!''

The Panthers come into the game 3-2 with 3 straight wins all coming in close games and with Peake scoring late in the game to secure the win.
The Dragons are injury laden, but with news that the injury list may be getting much shorter this week.

Who will take the game this year? The high-flying Dragons or the ground and pound Panthers?

At first thought, I have no idea who will win this game.

There are a lot of questions that will be answered after this one.

If Chesapeake played Fairland's schedule, then they would be 0-5, most likely, but the Panthers have shown some heart as of late.

If Fairland played Chesapeake's schedule, then they would be 3-2, most likely, but the Dragons have been beaten pretty badly.

The game will be at Chesapeake.

Will the Dragons offense fly high, or have the Panthers tightened up enough on defense?

Will the Panthers offense play ball control, or will the Dragons make some tackles and force some turnovers?

Will Special Teams make the difference?

I still don't know who will win, but it should be a fun one to watch!

I think this should be a pretty close game, but I'm just happy that it finally gets to be played at Chesapeake. The Peake has played at Fairland and Coal Grove the last 3 years. It should be a packed house so get there early!

This game is too close to call with the injuries to the Dragons. If the Dragons were healthy they would win for sure. When is Campbell (RB) coming back? It's a toss up!

With all the guys coming back, I think it will be the extra pep for the Dragons to get their first win.

Packed house? Fairland may have brought 50 fans to Lucasville last week. It was quite sad actually.

Proctorville to Chesapeake is just a little bit closer than travelling to Lucasville. The potential rain may keep some away, but it still should be a good crowd.

Over an hours drive to Lucasville knowing you're going to lose. 15 minutes to Chesapeake knowing you have a chance to get your first win of the season. OVC game, big rivalry, so yes, I do expect a big crowd. I know Chesapeake will have a good crowd so it's up to Fairland to do their part.

Haven't seen Fairland this year but I watched Rock Hill play West. Rock Hill's running back looked good, and if hes able to get blocks I think he will run all over fairland.
