I'm guessing at least 3 or 4 of these teams will be assigned to Region 9:

- Whetstone
- Northland
- Walnut Ridge
- West
- Briggs

It's sounding like Marion-Franklin and Beechcroft will be moved to D-IV as the result of the OHSAA recount (per their by-laws) and more accurate numbers from the M-F data scandal fallout of last summer.

If it dont happen this year Athens wont have to worry about it for a while. Being in the TVC they will have to go 10-0 to make the playoffs.

5 schools are dropping down from d3. So does this mean Tri-valley(second biggest d3 school) will be d2?

Some's disdane and ability to look down at teams from our area is distrubing.

What has Columbus DeSales done lately? If not for the move on the recounts, De Sales would not even be a consideration to make the play-offs.

I've defended SE football against ridiculous posts from the like of Paladin, but at the same time I don't have to put blinders on.

Athens has the most well-rounded team from our region in Region 9. That's not to say Jackson or Logan Elm aren't good football teams.

Outside of our region, Tri-Valley has a good football team, but I give the edge to Athens.

As for DeSales, look who they play on their schedule most seasons. If they played a SE schedule, they'd be 9-1 at worst. And that underachieving DeSales team did beat D4 state champ Clinton-Massie last year. It's only speculation, but Massie beats every team in SE Ohio, including Athens, last season in my view.

Assuming Logan Elm, Jackson, and Athens can win-out, my top 4 right now would be:
1. Logan Elm
2. Jackson
3. Athens
4. Winner of Sheridan @ Tri-Valley in Week 8

Desales is the team in the top 8 that may have the toughest time making playoffs. if there opponents don't start winning some games they could be passed by several teams.
