I think he went thru the 7th grade twice once at rvhs then gahs with the new rules in place by the ohsaa you cant do that anymore. I never knew it was cause of hardaway. but they say he is a pretty good pitcher maybe that will workout for the blue kidBevo wrote:I have known followed and been around all these kids since t-ball and to say Carter is anything close to Wade in speed or quickness is a total laugh he isn't in the same solar system as Wade, if your going to play action you have to hand the ball to someone, ? ? ? The other Jarrell?? Eastman was fast, quick and a good route runner but my point is he is GONE! The speed or quickness is not there to replace them and the reason Carter left RV is because he knew he would never play ahead of Hardway. As far as speed goes i would think the two of them in a foot race would be very close. As a matter of fact i think he may be quicker then Wade. What the qb doesn't lack this year is arm strength he has plenty of that. and since this won't be a pass heavy offense. it will be more of a play action team i think he will be OK.
My only problem with who they put at quarterback is he won't play defense much and i thought he did a great job last year as a defensive back when injuries hit. Eastman was not a speedster but a great route runner and best hands on team. If they can stay healthy i think we have similar speed. just not the depth of speed.
And who did they promote off a losing staff?
Why can't our fan base be honest about what talent we have? I was being kind with my prediction the honest truth is I see 2 games we might win, Chesapeake and Marietta maybe!!! This could be a winless season for the blue. I hope not but please be honest and don't want to fire the coach after week 2 which is normal protocol.

That still probably is not as bad as having Chris Hewitt and throwing it FOUR TIMES on the 1-yard line versus Jackson ...LoganLocos wrote:Well, he has had one more football head coaching job than the self anointed "blue guru."The General wrote:And as far as losing that D Coord. and Co-assistant coach as he he called himself....well
I remember when that so-called offensive genius had DONNIE FREAKIN' JOHNSON on his roster and only got the ball in his hands 3 times against Logan.... now THAT was funny.

It should be noted that Carter started school early (I think he was 4). So he's in the right age bracket for being a junior.

It doesn't matter when or what year he repeated or was held back, as long as he doesn't turn 19 before he starts his senior year he is fine and eligible as an athlete. See OHSAA rules for age eligibility.
There is tremendous evidence that suggests placement of a student into a class as late as possible has a high correlation with academic, social and athletic success which then obviously translates to collegiate or after High School success as a student or adult. Malcolm Gladwell wrote a book (NY Times Bestseller) entitled Outliers that has several chapters dedicated to this very topic.
Parents should give their children the best opportunity possible, so it is irrelevant when he did it or how old he was, bottom line he is right age for his class.
You may want to visit Wheelersburg sometime lol, they have this down to a science with 18 year old juniors and 19 year old seniors, and their success in school academically and out of school with extracurricular activities or athletics leads SE Ohio in my opinion.
Good luck to the young man.

Re: Gallia Academy Blue Devil football 2014
That means Coach Eddy took this team as deep into the playoffs as anyone has and saw what his chances were against upper echelon OHIO talent, Eddy never claimed to be a great game caller or coordinator, but the guy won and he won because he had leadership skills, he was an administrator and organizer everyone knew their job and he stepped on the right toes at the right time. HE WAS RUNNING TH SHOW and everyone knew it! The team was fundamentally sound and that lasted about 4 games the following year, like it does when most good coaches leave a program and someone who isn't destined to succeed takes over. I can give you 50 examples of a coaches teachings bleeding over into the next year until the players figure out that they can take a different easier path and start to falter. Did I like coach Eddy to talk to or listen to? NO!!! Short mans syndrome big time. The Dude was and is a winner, like it or not. Do I expect this staff to succeed? I will let you know after game #2!The General wrote:When the Eddy wore off the team. What in the hell does that mean? He played as a receiver as a junior. Had one rush and three receptions against Logan that year. GAHS got bailed out when Logan went for it on fourth down and Cole Haggerty had a pick 6 with like 2 minutes to play.Bevo wrote:

The next year, when Donnie finally got the ball, he ANNIHILATED Logan on the Hilltop. One of the best individual performances I have ever seen.

Well not a lot of positive things tonight. well there were but none of them happened consistently enough. Still think 5-5 is possible but there were already injuries tonight the bench might get thin in a hurry. Quite of few things as long as we coach up will be OK. like long snappers. one guy short all night one guy long. Big thing will be a week of moving forward and staying healthy against Athens.
Re: Gallia Academy Blue Devil football 2014
so how did the skill kids look? qb play running backs wide outs? any bright spots?
Re: Gallia Academy Blue Devil football 2014
Blake Wilson had a nice gain. Wes Jarrell had a pass interception. Wes left the game with a cramp in the third with 8:17 left to play.

Re: Gallia Academy Blue Devil football 2014
Gallia picked up a couple of first downs on their first drive running the ball and mixing up the ball carriers. drive bogged down had a fourth and 1 and decided to punt. long snapping was horrible all night. Defense on first drive had burg stopped 3 and out it would of been 4th and like 8 but blue devils roughed the quarterback. after that they had another penalty and burg moved the ball on down to go up 6 to 0. next drive gallia did nothing and snapped ball through back of end zone 8 to nothing. defense played well the next drive. the next offensive drive a couple of decent running plays on qb option but drive fizzled out again. wheelersburg moved down field pretty easily to go up
16 to zer and scored once more before half. i don't think gallia completed a pass during entire game. in spots they played decently but overall were not consistent on anything positive. Line play was not horrible and opened some nice holes a few times. The offense ever got a rhythm going though. when i thought they had then the play calling confused me. But i think we scripted a lot of plays we ran as in. this series we want to do this and next series this. more then down and distance playing or that is what it seemed like. Wes jarrell had some nice carries. kole carter had some nice carries and blake wilson had a few nice carries blake would of had a real nice run on one play they had opened a big hole and he slipped on wet turf for no gain without a defender close to him.

On tonites scrimmage, first had this been a regular season game it would have been 42-0 most likely! The defense is as bad as I can ever remember and do you see how much we miss the skilled speed now? carter tries but this team is slow! line looks inexperienced ? I have no idea what theDL is doing? The offense just did not seem to move the ball looked out of sync I hope conditioning isn't an issue
