I think you will be suprised Friday. If you don't load the box we will have 300 yrds rushing. Maybe more. Even if you do load it up we will get 250+ Btw Our line will do just fine.
thats what makes ironton a scary team this year if box is loaded tigers will come over top (they have 2 goliath receivers with speed) lets hope ironton mixes everything up to keep the defense off balance and tigers will put up in 30's points per game this year!!!!!

what to do, what to do , sounds like teams could be in a pickle against this tiger team this year!!!!!!

Ashland does not have the best backfield this year.! Good Luck Ironton, you have all the goods, take it to the Burg!

Am I missing something? Last year Ironton was 3-7 and only topped 20 pts once. Now they are all of a sudden the biggest offensive threat in the area? Ironton gave up 32 ppg last year and that was the problem. If you can't get the other team's offense off the field, you won't have many chances to score.

1 year of experience for the entire team should take ppg from 14-17 to in 30's easily (if not then must be other issues )

if you get rid of the 3 big schools last year (hartley , st charles , and JC) the defense only gave up 25 pts per game

If Ironton is such a threat on offense, where were they during the coal grove jamboree game? Coal grove shut Ironton down..... Not taking anything away from coal grove but Ironton isn't that good.. They have a tough back and a couple good receivers that probably won't get many touches this year. Ironton will not be able to pass on burg, the dbs will shut that down quick. I do think Ironton will have a little bit of success running the ball on burg but not enough to win the game. I don't see Ironton getting 250 yards rushing, at the most 200.. Burg will burn Ironton all night long on short passes and the no huddle offense will wear the tiger defense down quick. Look for a 4th quarter burg jv team to give up a touchdown or so making the final score look closer the the game actually is! Go Burg!!

So what do Ironton fans want; full house T and grind it out or throw it more?
Because up until Friday Ironton fans were happy because they were able to run it at will against a mediocre at best Fairland defense that was missing a couple of their better players. They were the Ironton of old.
Then they can't run it against Coal Grove and you want to throw to Goliath receivers?

The T is not a balanced offense. You kinda have to pick one or the other.

So aside from the 3 big schools, Ironton was 3-4 while scoring 17 ppg and allowing 25 ppg.

Ironton will be much better offensively than last year most certain, but if they couldn't sustain the offensive blocks of coal grove then more than likely they will not burgs. The game will be close but burg adds one late to seal by 21. I will most certainly eat crow should burg loses. I don't think jv will see action this time.

You want a run based offense that sets up the pass. Thats what they did vs Fairland. You cant abandon the running game at the 1st stop for a loss. You grind it out lure the defense to sleep then hit the pass. Its a simple formula that works. Against the Grove they went away from it. In the Grove game Irontons QB did overhrow 2 revievers for sure TD's. Ironton this year i an unknown. They got the talent to be best team in the area, but right now they are only a team coming off a losing season. As for Burg they lost a lot and you guys might have reloaded or might not have like Ironton only thing known about Burg is theu usually havea good season.

I hear that Wheelersburg returns a lot on the line but how many returning skilled position Players do they have? Who are they?

Not sure the starters but I know they lost miller time and that might be the biggest blow any team could have. So you have a qb that has zero snaps in crunch time of a varsity game. From what I hear this qb might be better , personally I don't see how. Could come down to , can burg qb settle in or is he going to have happy feet jitters. My guess is burg goes deep bomb 1st play. Throw it to only 1 man can catch. Vs. 2-3 hand offs. What burg has lacked skill wise they normally trump it with confidence.

Not that I would ever defend Ironton, but they would have had more points per game if the transfer from South Point Pallodino had played all year. He was only able to play half the season. Can they beat the Burg? I am predicting a no. Burg has much better line play and I think the defensive back for Burg will not allow much passing.

What is the status of the running back for Ironton. I know he missed the scrimmage is he healthy. The last anyone said was it may be turf toe. That will have a huge impact on this game. He will need to be 100% for Ironton to have a chance in this game.

He's 100% good to go, no Turf Toe.

Thats good to hear. With him 100% healthy that gives Ironton a real chance to get a win. Without Pallodino Burg would win this game easy.
