Good luck to Don
Very slim margin of perceived error in Kinnikinick
Expectations are high at Trace

Bennett the last three season:
1 conference title
2 runner up finishes
3 sectional titles
3 district final appearances (1 loss to Dillow/Valley and 1 loss to Wheelersburg)
1 district title
1 regional final appearance (lost to State Champs Bloom Carrol)
During this span Trace won more games against
SVC opponents then any other SVC team.
This past season Trace lost 5 games, 4 of those 5 loses came against teams playing in the State Finals. Logan Elm D2, Paint Valley D4, and D3 Westfall X2 (and state champions). The other loss was to perennial southern Ohio powerhouse Wheelersburg.
And this was not good enough..........

Don will do good a job,
Built a nice program in Jackson,
I can't believe they let him go.
It will be interesting how Trace receives his coaching philosophy.

Any names for the Jackson head coach since Don left? I also heard Minford is looking for a new coach. Any names floating around for that position?

Xs and Os-wise Donny will do just fine. He is a very good strategy (sometimes overthinks things) coach with a ton of knowledge of the game. However, he has about as much tact as a bull in a china shop when it comes to anyone questioning his moves. It will be interesting to see how he handles PR at ZT. P.S.

...speaking of lacking tact

I've never once heard him lack tact when questioned by a coaching decision (which typically are silly)....instead you will get a long drawn out explanation of why he chose to do it.

Not sure I know too many coaches that are great about people with far less invested and far less knowledge questioning them. That might be the least important quality to care about....unless little Sally who is a senior is on the bench behind a more talented freshman...I guess those parents should worry about it.

Maybe I92 can answer this, why is Jackson always losing coaches?
You would think with the facilities they have Jackson would be the number one destination for coaches and players. But not the case from my view point. Administration problem? Had heard the super has a little "Napoleon " complex. But that is hear say.

Who all is leaving? Coach Kunz spent 5 years and has moved on.

Basketball has always had too great of a turnover but the other sports to me just don't have that.

Jackson has some outstanding coaches in most programs most of the time. Community support is as good as it gets, facilities top notch , academics ranked 22 in the state , wouldn't trade it for anything

No one likes sports more than I do...but as a parent of a sophomore to be in college....I'm very happy with that 22nd ranking.

No bigger Ironman fan than myself but facts remain. I believe there is a new girls soccer coach, football was 1 vote away from hiring a new coach just over a year ago. Baseball has had 3 coaches in last 7 years. And basketball seems to have a new coach every couple years, but that one is most likely to change, after all, how do you fire a sup:)
I don't usually disagree with ya I92. But I believe my facts are true. You could probably shed more light.

Hall will be starting his 6th? year as head football coach.
McGraw has coached the last 4?....previous coach and Jason Wright before that had nothing to do with "Napolean" as it was the old AD and Super.
Basketball? Lol Hard to even include it but we will....the ONLY pretty good teams we've had in the last 40 years were coached by the only coaches to last longer than 3 years. We've had more 1,000 scorers leave than stay....the turnover rate at Jackson for basketball coaches has been nothing short of ridiculous.

Girls soccer? She's coached since the inception of the program and left an insanely talented team...I forget why but it seems like it was her and not administration.

Martin has been head Volleyball going on his 5th or 6th season.

Wilson has headed golf for 12-15 years. Track and XC have been the same forever. Wrestling has been the same people. Tennis not a big turnover.

I just believe, compared to virtually every other school around it just not much different at all. I've been wrong before though.

That is a pretty spot on analysis I92.

Clearly the aberration is with Boys Basketball...nothing short of ridiculous might be a nice way of putting it I suppose.

Boys baseball has been a bit of a coaching carousel as well, this was I believe Coach McGraw's 4th year here, the last 3 with Varsity and his first year was as a JV coach in when Coach Swackhammer was varsity in 2011 as I recall. Prior to that it was Rolston and Wright ?? if memory serves. And Little and Byler maybe before that but not to sure could be wrong. So call it 6 or so in the last 14 years or thereabouts and 3 in the last 6 years plus or minus.

The other sports you mention seem to be pretty steady for the most part, but I admit not extremely knowledgeable about some of them.

So overall (big picture) I concur that compared to all other area schools we are probably not that much different.

However if you compared it too other area schools that have had continued athletic success how would it compare? For example a Burg or a Valley come to mind as programs that in boys and girls seem to make consistent runs in a variety of sports. Just a thought if our turnover would be more or less comparatively speaking.

Clearly an emphasis on the basketball program at a younger level now to play and compete more during off-season and that will most likely yield results in a few years. Continuity in coaching I believe must follow with this commitment though for success to be something more than a .500 season.

But I suppose at the end of the day continued academic success remains the biggest factor to worry about at any school...even though in the middle of fall-winter-spring sports seasons it isn't fun to talk about lol.

I truly forgot Swack did it for a year.

I thought Rolston left for bigger and better things up around Columbus?
