Doom 02 2014 Thread

Wont get any coverage anywhere else but here so I'll share how we do this year and give updates on my team -

We started our summer with the Lancaster early bird , 10 team tourney with 2 pools . We got in 5 games ( including playing 60 min after a major thunderstorm went thru , huge hats off to the crew at Martin's park , they broke out dozens of bags of Diamond Dry) . Played very well in 4 out of the 5 games . Results were not great but if you are familiar with travel ball the even year teams this season are playing against some teams a year older than them at at 10 and 12u it does make a difference .

Tied Ohio Glory 01' 4-4 after coming out smoking hot in the 1st . Led 4-0 after one but allowed the tying run in the last inning .
Lost 6-2 to the eventual tourney champ Ohio Classics 02 . led 2-0 after 2 innings then had a long rain delay and didnt look like the same team after the delay . Classics scored above 10 against nearly team they played . This Classics team is def' one of the best 11u teams in Ohio . ( homered twice on HS type fields on sunday)
Came out flat and laid a total egg in game 3 on sat and got pounded by the Ohio Storm-Blue . So finished pool play 0-2-1 . Doesnt sound too great but the 4 seed out of 5 teams in our pool beat the 1 seed from the other pool on sunday .

Sunday played 2 very good games, beat Diamonds 02' 12-0 , then saw the 1 seed from our pool . Diamonds Black (waddell) 01' . Played them dead even at 4-4 into the last inning and left a runner on third in our half of the inning and they got a clean single to knock in the game winner after time expired to beat us 5-4 . Diamonds went on to the finals against Classics and Classics prevailed 13-11 .

Next up is a 24 team tourney on the turf at Berliner , Firefighters Memorial in two weeks . MD

May31-june 1st Bandit Bash held in NKY by the NKY Bandits .
June 6-7th Ashland Ky at Championship fastpitch ( Utrip pride , WV dusters Ky Crush , 3 others)
June 14th Portsmouth ASA tourney
June 21st OFF
June 27-29th ASA state Tourney . the biggie for all 12u teams , should be 60-80 teams entered .
July 4th OFF
July 11-12th Challenge at BeaverCreek - Dayton oh.
July 16-19 U Trip World Series in Maumee,oh .

results were a mixed bag again this weekend. Nearly identical to last week . Finished 1-1-1 in pool play. Had 3-0 lead on Pittsburg Bulldawgs but fell 5-4 .
Tied our pool winner PC Sting 01 3-3 after spotting them a 2-0 lead after 1 inning . And won big over Lancaster Pride .
Ended up 3rd in our pool with identical record as the pitts team but they had the head to head against us .
In bracket play beat OFC heat 02 6-4 but lost 7-5 to the Ohio Dragons .

Next week off to Cincy area for the NKY Bandit Bash .

Might sound like a broken record but another mixed bag this weekend at Bandit bash in Cincy . Did finish tied for 3rd amongst 10 teams and got a W over the # 1 seed overall on Sunday but fell in the semi's to a team we beat the previous week in C-bus ( they also beat us on sat ) . Went 3-3 on the weekend , 1-2 on pool play after not playing well at all VS the OFC Heat . Should have been 2-1 but played horrible D in that loss . Fell hard to Cincy Swat late sat as the team ran out of gas and played with no energy .
Beat a young team early Sunday am and then upset the 1 seeded Ohio Hawks 5-4 in an ITB affair . Got the rematch we wanted VS OFC heat but fell 1 out short in a tough loss. Had 5-4 lead with 2 strikes and 2 outs but gave up a double that knocked in two runs . Swat over OFC Heat in the finals.
