This should be a great game. Fairland has a decent secondary so this game should be close.
Fairland has a tough schedule lol.

From afar, it looks like a game that will not be decided until late. The Dragons will have momentum from their Ironton victory and have to now be considered co-favorites to win the OVC. Upset is possible, Dragons 22 Waverly 18.

The momentum from the Ironton game combined with playing at Mayo for the first time this season may be the extra boost the Dragons need to grab another win. Waverly is a tough team, and it won't be easy, but my big green heart believes they can make it happen.

Has Fairland's facility been updated in the last 30 years? I saw the Tigers lose to the Dragons at Fairland's back in the late 1980's. The field was rough grass, the lights poor, and the stands looked run down. No knock on Fairland though as money is always scarce.dragonalum wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2017 12:13 pm The momentum from the Ironton game combined with playing at Mayo for the first time this season may be the extra boost the Dragons need to grab another win. The tiger defense grows tougher every week. Waverly goes to 4-0

Tigers don't over look the dragons. I like Waverly in this one but I think it will be close.
Re: WK4 (3-0) Waverly @ (1-2) Fairland
Nice late win over Ironton for Fairland, but let's face it Ironton isn't Ironton anymore and it took final play TD to win it. Fairland can keep it close for a bit but Waverly's pace takes its toll and Waverly goes on to win by 2 scores.

This is a long bus trip for the Tigers.
I think the Waverly defense is getting a bad rap. The adjustments made at halftime are better than what people realize. The Tigers first team defense has given up 1 TD in the second half in three games thus far. IDK much about Fairland, They hung with West, beat Ironton but I know nothing about what those teams have either.
I think if it turns into a track meet Waverly will win. The offense is explosive.
Should be a dandy.

Don't use the past Ironton win as a major season changer for Fairland. It was a GREAT win for their program, however, Waverly is not Ironton. This game might start out close, but Waverly will never be in danger of losing.

How many of you think it makes more sense to drive 32 to 35 to rt 7 from Waverly, it is further but much better roads most of the way and no Portsmouth traffic. Google maps say first route is longer but would it be about the same time?

Some updates, but definitely the worst field in the OVC. Visitors stands are the same size but at least you dont have to risk your life to sit and watch a game they've updated them. They've added more home stands. Grass should be good since no rainy games were played on it , unless maybe a youth game. Wealthiest school in tne county has the worst field, go figure!
Re: WK4 (3-0) Waverly @ (1-2) Fairland
Fairland is not the wealthiest district in the County. The tax base is most likely the lowest. When Kroger is you largest employer in your district I doubt youre#1 in tax dollars coming in. Maybe look at Rock Hill. The Power plant gives them millions a year in tax revenues. South point has "The Point" industrial park. So maybe think a little before speaking.

BigDog,
I think US 23 S and then up over Rosemount to US 52 E to SR 7 may be just as fast. I mean with the exception of Rosemount I think the roads are pretty good. Mapquest shows about a 10 min difference (with 23 S to 52 E being faster), I mean in the end it may be 6 one way and half a dozen the other.

Rosemount is closed I believe until 5 pm starting Sept 15 isn't it? Then you could go 335 to dixon mill rd to 140. I just think it is very congested and lots of traffic. What is it like from Galliopolis to Proctorville on rt 7?

Rt. 7 from Gallipolis to Rome is not a bad two lane road, but I think you still have to drive through downtown Gallipolis which can eat time. Best bet is US23 to US52 then SR7. Allow at least 90 minutes drive time from Waverly if Rosemont Hill is closed.
