Wow, that is fantastic for Green. Congratulations Coach Newsome! Maybe more kids will play and not transfer to Burg.

I am pretty sure there are more Burg transfers on Green's roster than Green transfers at Burg.

As you all can tell I do not get on here much but got a text from my sister late last night telling me the news...Talk about being out of the loop,I did not know he was going after the job sisterly love huh LOL but I think this is a really good hire for Green, Ted will bring a LOT of experience to that program and I can promise you his kids will be well schooled and will have to become students of the game or they won't be able to play for him. he will fundamental those kids to death and they may be out athleted but they will be in posistion and ready to play football everydown. I know me and my family here in S.C are as happy as we can be for him and know he will do a good job plus it just about killed my soul to buy my nephew orange and black stuff last year.JUST KIDDING.Just give Ted some time and hope he keeps HIS kids in HIS program .As I said GOOD LUCK Ted We are awful proud of you

Oh and by the way I did want to add Green has lost Lot's of players to other schools in the county Wheelersburg, Notre Dane or maybe some of you are to young to remember but TRUST me I know many years ago 2 of Irontons 3 starting running backs lived in Franklin Furnace, Please don't get me wrong I can't say I blame the kids parents for sending them but Let's all be totally honest here Burg, the Tigers, the Titans and sometimes the Falcons have all benefited from players from Green and please don't waste your time arguing with me I won't be back on here for probably another 6 months plus I was coaching against those schools when some of you were still in diapers.. :122245

Ted will make a good coach. I knew he went for the West job and did not get it but I think he landed in a better place at this time. Ted loves the game and is a hard worker for sure good luck Green you got yourself a good coach!!!!

Ill still argue the point even if you wont be here for 6 months..

I agree this is probably a good hire.
As for kids leaving Green for Burg or other schools?? Yeah it happens but not as much as you might think or about on the same level as it does at ANY school around here anymore.

The three kids you spoke up who played for Ironton but lived in Franklin Furnace.. I believe they were actually Rock Hill kids and chose Ironton over Rock Hill.. The Backroad there can be tricky with the whole County Line/School District sometimes.

According to this article, Triplet will be helping him this year. This is a good opportunity for Green football.

Green has a good youth program. Some of the kids come from burg in the younger grades with no intention of going to green. They play there because burg doesn't have football until the 5th grade. That is a problem that needs addressed as it does nothing good for green. In fact it probably hurts long term. They should really look into if you don't go to green, you cannot play pee wee there.

I hope they are successful there.

Step in the right direction. Maybe they'll get Clifford to volunteer his time as well.

Coaching can only do so much, but maybe the excitement of new coach who has excellent credentials, and one of the better head coaches in the area as an assistant will keep some kids.

Time will tell if it is or not. If McDavid couldn't win there anymore, I certainly have my reservations about the dynamic duo.
