Study John Beilein's Michigan offense and you are watching Bishop Ready. Very talented and disciplined team. 6'6 player can jump out of the gym.

Tough matchup for the Burg but the way they have been playing anything can happen. Everyone saying they are bigger than Burg well just about everyone they have played has been bigger then them.

I can guarantee you one thing, Burg will show up to play Wednesday.

Here is a pic of there team. They have some big boys but Burg is used to that by now.

I think Coach Ater has to be recognized at this point. Getting to the Regionals in his first year with a crew of kids that many wrote off before and during the season shows something. Hard work by the kids and the coaches pays off.

I agree. If he isn't the DIII coach of the year then that shows just how big of a joke that award is. He gets the most out of his kids and he does it without hollering and yelling at them. These kids don't need that to get motivated. A kind word every now and then goes a long way as well. 99% of these kids that play HS ball are playing for the fun and to be able to represent their school and town. Screaming and beating a kid down does nothing for them.

I am pretty sure the district awards voting has already taken place, so don't be surprised if Ater doesn't get it. After a late start due to football and a 1-3 start to the season, Coach Ater has done a great job with this group of kids. They are having fun and I am pretty sure have won 9 in a row after yesterday. Other than the first game of the season loss to West, this team doesn't have a "bad loss" and that was only by 7 pts. Dylan Miller has really turned it on in the tournament and Widdig, Claxon, Spradlin, May, and Parsley have played very well. All of this after losing E.Miller to a broken collar bone in late January.

Ready plays a slower game and scores around 50 pts. most games, so I like the Burg's chances in this one. If Burg keeps playing good defense and rebounding well, they can "survive and advance" once again.

GO PIRATES!

Not shocked by that.

Still think Ater deserved it. He came in to a high profile program, had to wait until football ended, started the season 1-3 and now has the Pirates two games away from the Final Four. That is a coach of the year candidate in my book.

He lost his starting point guard half way through the season and then had to really earn his coaching stripes by getting the best out of all of his players. Really like his demeanor on the sideline. Doesn't get upset and really talks to the players and explains to them what they did wrong. The kids act like they really enjoy playing for him and they are on the ride of their lives. Win or lose Wednesday this is something they will talk about for years.

Ready was ranked 6th in the State in the final AP Poll. The Knights are coming off their biggest win of the season and an easy win at that. After being swept in 2 tight matches by Hartley in the regular season, Ready came out in the District Championship and pretty much routed Hartley jumping out to a 17 point lead at one point in a game Hartley never lead in. Ready is currently 19-5 with 4 of those 5 losses in the CCL and no loss by more than 8 points.

Good luck to Burg in this one...don't know anything abut Ready, but won't count out Burg. Not too many people expected Burg to be here, so no pressure on the Pirates*

Wheelersburg is in the regional because of their defense........they have been offensively challenged all year, but Coach Ater has the Pirates playing super hard on the stop end of the court. I was very impressed with the Burg's defense when the Trojans barely escaped with a 42-38 win in the regular season.

Nice run for the pirates. Miller has just decided to not let the season end. They do play good defense. Best of luck at the convo. Southern Ohio is represented well.

Wheelersburg lost by 2 and 5 to AP #4 Lucasville Valley in their 2 meetings this year and beat AP #10 Zane Trace in the sectional final, but AP rankings don't mean anything. Both teams earned their way to the regionals. Burg will need to execute better offensively, but I think this will be a good game. Is it basketball 30 yet?!?!

GO PIRATES!!
