Re: Portsmouth West Football 2014
Does anyone know what time West practices, I would like to watch a few of them?

I didnt get to make it, but from what I have heard that look good. It's hard to tell much from intersquad games though. We'll get a better gauge after next week.

Very true.noles_fan wrote:I didnt get to make it, but from what I have heard that look good. It's hard to tell much from intersquad games though. We'll get a better gauge after next week.
You can’t expect much from a scrimmage against one another. Next weeks scrimmage should be tough.
Re: Portsmouth West Football 2014
Does West only have 2 scrimmages? Where is the Johnson Central scrimmage and what time?
Re: Portsmouth West Football 2014
CG and PW play on the 16th, last game of the OVC previews, probably around 8 PM.

Should be a good test for both.zebra77 wrote:CG and PW play on the 16th, last game of the OVC previews, probably around 8 PM.

They have two plus the intersquad scrimmage that they just had. The Johnson Central scrimmage is at JC and I believe it is at 8:00 pmMr. Hoff wrote:Does West only have 2 scrimmages? Where is the Johnson Central scrimmage and what time?

What does everyone think after seeing the intersquad scrimmage? Will we be passing 60% this year?

Re: Portsmouth West Football 2014
60% passing would be A LOT of passing. Burg only attempted passes about 40% of the time last year and that seemed like a lot to me. Assuming you would run 50 offensive plays a game (just a guess), if you pass 60% that would be 30 pass attempts a game. If a team plans on attempting that many passes, you better be able to complete 70% of them or your defense will be worn out because they will be on the field all night.

60% is a ton of passes and not to mention a huge change from the past years for the Senators, but anything is possible at this point I guess? I was told they have some fine athletes. You can’t help but want to see a team like this succeed once again.4th n Goal wrote:60% passing would be A LOT of passing. I agree you better be able to complete them or it will be a long night. We will soon see, also keep in mind bad weather can change alot of things.
Re: Portsmouth West Football 2014
60 percent is a ton. Probably more like 60/40 run/pass.
We have to be farely balanced. We aren't big upfront and we are not just gonna line up and run it at good teams. I think we'll see a more controlled passing game. Short passes (slants, curls, outs, screens, swing passes). High percentage passes that are like a run.
There is gonna be a growth process. And if we win this year it will be alot more because of defense than offense.
The two good scrimmages will help alot. If we can compete with Coal Grove and especially Johnson Central, we will be OK.

Saw a lot of short passing the other day. Slants to the sideline to Davis and Howell and fullback Kegley.Doubt they showed much though.
