FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL

Or would you like to have open dates in your schedule? Basketball and football are very different when it come to scheduling games!
Quit making excuses, I've scheduled games in all sports over the years, and am well versed in the philosophies of scheduling. Logan appears to be going for wins to make themselves feel good. By far the largest school south of I-70 and east of The Cincinnati corridor. Hannan Trace may be open! While we schedule legitimate teams in basketball you drop teams for weaker competition! You guys love to pick on Athens (who doesn't), for dropping you in football and then you drop them when they get good at basketball. Face it, you guys haven't been relavent in a few years in any sport!
Let's see who has open dates that matches Logan open dates and YOU make the suggestions!
Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
The situation at Logan is a joke imo. The biggest farce is that the staff has no clue what is going on so their summers are pretty much on hold. Most schools let their staff know right after the last game whether or not a change is coming or if they're coming back for the following season. But at Logan everyone is in the dark. Which means nobody can plan shootouts or camps or workouts or even their futures because nobody has a clue what is going on. We are 10 days from graduation and we don't know if the current staff is returning or not. If the staff wasnt coming back it should of been made known ASAP and if they are coming back it should of been made known ASAP. I've said it before, there is absolutely no reason why this staff shouldnt be back at Logan next season. The program is solid, the staff wants to be there, wants to see kids get better, they want to achieve the goals set in place. The only drawback based on the rumor mill continues to be disgruntled parents over a kid not playing. What a shocker. If I told my dad 25 years ago to go have a meeting because I wasnt playing he would of laughed in my face and said "WORK HARDER!" Or maybe accept your kid is not the second coming of Michael Jordan. Maybe he is just a role player. Accept your role or don't. That's not a coach's fault. You have to want to get better as a player, want to work to get better, and not have mommy and daddy yell at the admins bc tommy isnt getting enough minutes. As the great Rich Bell told us as freshmen, "If you don't like it, there's the door!" We've allowed to many people to have too much say in how our programs are run. Coaches have to be allowed to coach, to discipline and run their programs without outside interference. Because too many have become baby sitters instead. Let the staff continue to grow and make the program better.

Beautiful post! You say 25 years ago... I would say as little as 15 years ago. My parents would have laughed in my face, and made me lift in the garage or practice my jump shots. We are in a society where everyone deserves a trophy and that is the problem. Parents are killing the love of the game.

Parents and kids haven't killed anything. It's dipstick coaches and poor administration. Like anything in life, if you have poor management you are going to have poor workers. Athens football now makes Athens of 20 years look like middle school kids. Hard to get motivated to be better when the people making the decisions are idiots. I will say a lot of coaches now are not dedicated enough like coaches a long time ago. Two way street
Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
Youre wrong about the first statement. Parents feel they are entitled to question every move a coach makes if they dont agree with the choices and kids fall right in line. They feel above the coach's authority and have too much entitlement. "Im here so I should play 40 mins a game!" Prime example: Baseball game two weeks ago one kid is thrown out for cussing at Ump. Ump says you're gone! Kid says "For what???" Ump says "For cussing at me!" Kid says "Im 18 I can do and say whatever I want!" Ump says "Not on my field you dont!" Bravo!RAIDER6309 wrote:Parents and kids haven't killed anything. It's dipstick coaches and poor administration. Like anything in life, if you have poor management you are going to have poor workers. Logan has had too many Grandparents or aunts or outsiders not agree with the way a kid is being coached and complain and said coach has been asked to resign or be fired. How can a coach feel secure about a job he's trying to do if they have to worry about being canned if some yutz off the street complains?? Its maddening. If a parent complains their kid is not playing, they fire the coach, new coach comes in, kid still doesnt play, do we fire that guy too?? Its insane the way things are done in this situation.
Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
Raider, For once I agree, also you can not let the inmates run the asylum! Grad, the coaches need to have the gonads to dismiss a kid and have and AD and administration's stand behind the coach! Was that kid that cussed the ump dismissed from the team?RAIDER6309 wrote:Parents and kids haven't killed anything. It's dipstick coaches and poor administration. LHS I do agree with what you say as well. 100%. If a coach cant count on certain admins to have their backs theyre fighting a no win battle. Kid was from opposing team. Not Logan. But their coach was F Bombing from the dugout so my guess is no. And hey I am not holier than thou to think kids arent cussing it was the mindset that I can do what I want when I want without any repercussions for my actions.

There's only one doing the name calling. Read the posts and see what started this whole thing. I'm not that hard to get along with and not the aggressor here. If that would have been any other poster they would have reported him calling someone that name on this board. I'm surprised that someone (seop staff member) hasn't caught it already.Jason Vorhees wrote:*Grabs Popcorn and watches two grown men call each other names while the demise of Logan's program implodes*

Trenchfoot, if that guy is a coach from Logan who cussed you, no wonder they have problems in their current situation. I do not have a dog in this fight; however, just because I may agree or disagree with you on something does not give me the entitlement or right to cuss you on a public forum. That is just plain stupid. Plus, we have disagreed on certain topics before. Again, if that is a coach from Logan's basketball staff, all I have to say is wow. I am not from Logan and that is down right disrespectful.

I have no idea who "The General" is. I was just joking around with him about being a vegetarian because he called me out with sarcasm. Then I ended up being called the big D. No hard feelings with you Jason, I pretty much knew what ya meant. As far as THE GENERAL, I'm done with the bickering.Jason Vorhees wrote:Trenchfoot, if that guy is a coach from Logan who cussed you, no wonder they have problems in their current situation. Yep, that's what I meant. I'm done bickering with him. No sense in it, it would go on and on and get out of hand.

I know who The General is "bud" and I am definitely not done with you. You called me out with your ignorance about how I made reference to how good historically Athens has been the last few years and their staff as compared to Logan. I commented that Logan has had some good squads and some nice players. But not like the recent Athens bunch. Not even close. But your ignorant ass didnt want to hear it and you called me out. So now Trench you can deal with it until I am done with you. ..Got it "bud"?

Re: FUTURE OF LOGAN BASKETBALL
Coach Helber will return next season. The overall situation and landscape at Logan has got to change IMO. And I mean this in the aspect of outside influences. The man has to be allowed to run his program without other people thinking they have a right to tell him how.
