"Gozer the Traveler. He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!" - Ghostbusters  :!:
The 6/24/15 column is a very interesting read to say the least...unfortunately I do not think Logan-Hocking LSD is the only district facing this very issue(s), so don't feel isolated.

There seems to be a blur between parent involvement in school sporting or extracurricular activities and one could even say school involvement in parent-child activities. What once was a fairly black and white distinction has now become shades of grey that are for all intents and purposes indistinguishable. Call me old or old-fashioned (I am both) but not so long ago schools did what schools do and parents did what parents do and it seemed to work out just fine...now everyone seems to think they know each others business better than the other.

If this is indeed about playing time (and I trust the author of the column, he almost exclusively is fair not to mention factual) then the BOE has entered into a trap that they will never win. Gone are the days of parents encouraging their kid(s) to simply find a place to play, notwithstanding limelight and seeking "glory", but just find a spot to help your team. Do your role and help your team. Often times I think parents would rather have their kids in the limelight and be 0-20 rather than being a role player and 17-3. By no means does LHS have exclusivity on this issue. There is much more satisfaction (and personal growth) to being a good or above average player, helping your team's cause and truly understanding life's lessons than receiving individual accolades.

Anyone who thinks a coach over the course of a season will not try and find his "best" 5 or "best 11" or "best 9" to produce the best results probably has never coached at a competitive level.

Parents need to parent. Coaches need to coach. Teachers need to teach. Administrators should administrate. BOE should manage all of those at the 30,000 foot level not at the 3 foot level unless there is extenuating circumstances...which frankly would be rare. When parents or administrators cross over into each others roles things can get silly.

The self promotion of individualism by a parent over the success of a team that the individual has a role in isn't what sports are about or should ever be about.

Seen in local rag that finally Martin has said he is moving on. ( Have no idea why he told a different story last week) Had a little conversation with some on the inside said don't be surprised if new coach ends up being a Good Old Boy job. Who has ties to school board member.

Our BOE has really screwed both Basketball program up! If Helber was to be terminated it should have happened after the season ended and not this summer! Coach Martin would have stayed and possibly became the boys head coach again if this happened at the end of the basketball season! The BOE should have listen to our lame duck Supt! The BOE can save face if they hire the new coaches from outside of the district!

I want to wish Coach Helber nothing but the best.

To all of Logan, when one door closes another opens.. Sometimes Good things fall apart so Better things can come together.

Would Love to see a brilliant mind Coach that has experience at the State level to take this Program to another Level.

A person that has the Passion like no other and one who help boys grow into Men.

Logan needs a Leader that will give their kids the best chance to fund their education with connections with college coaches throughout Ohio.

Logan kids deserve this and just might get it!

Heard Coach Kellough, former coach at Chillicothe, was offered the job. Don't know much about him other than he took Chillicothe to state championship 2008 and won 70-69 over Toledo in OT. Stepped down from Chillicothe in 2009. Decision was between 2 experienced coaches from the outside. The other candidate would have been a real "WIN" for Logan. No internal candidates given a chance.

Hope everyone gives the new coach a chance. GO CHIEFS!

I'm hearing the same reports that the BOE will hire Coach Gary Kellough ( former Chillicothe Cavs head coach) on Monday night to coach the Logan boys for 2015-16 ... also had a name thrown out for the Varsity Girls here at Logan as well - Steve Clippinger from Lancaster, coached at Fairfield Union last season I believe ... we'll sit back and wait for the votes to be tallied Monday night ... if I'm not mistaken neither Kellough or Clippinger will be on staff at Logan other than to be varsity coaches for the boys & girls respectively ...

If this is true it is a big time hire for Logan. Coach Kellough has won 400-500 games. I know he won 5 district championships in 7 years with the Cavs along with the State Championship. He finished his last season with Chillicothe in 2012. Logan has been known to play a lot of zones, etc. Kellough believes in man to man pressure D. Big change coming in Logan.

Just hope they stick around for awhile. One good thing about the local boys is they are usually in it for the long haul and the program has stability.Seems like promising hires,a little fresh blood is nice although I hate to see Martin go.
