Bloom Carroll has excellent facilities and are a program on the rise. They were really bad, comparable to Marietta just a few years ago, but the last couple of coaches have done well. Carroll is a growing community with a short commute to Columbus. Add to it the fact that Bart is more of an MSL guy (his dad is at Logan Elm now), and I can see the appeal.
In regard to your ambition comment, I'll say this. In the 100 year history of Logan football, only ONE coach stayed 10 years or more (Dale Amyx). Only three coaches stayed for more than 5 years (Bender 36-41, Diller 47-53, and Adams 57-65). Additionally, Dick Mikes and Clarence Perry each stayed exactly 5 years.
Hardly lifers. Our best coaches left for "better" jobs - and I'd agree with their decisions. Bender went to Shelby and then Fostoria, Diller became principal and then superintendent, Adams went to Zanesville, Mikes went to Minerva (Stark County), Perry went to Zanesville, Amyx retired.
The Brent Saunders, Bob Lutz, Curt Clifford, Dale Amyx, and Ed Millers of the world are pretty rare.
I don't think its a secret that I'm a fan of Coach Penrod. I've said this before and will again, Penrod WILL be a great head coach somewhere.

Good comments Locos.... it is not good for the program anytime a coach leaves after one year. Sounds like Bart went to a better program, wish him the best....

Re: Coach Bart Reportedly Leaves Gallipolis
My only question is, What parents do you think treated the coach badly? Being a parent of a football player i did not see any of this ill treatment toward coach Bart by parents of active players. Most of the the harsh words i heard are from people with no kids in the program. Last year was tough and it is behind us. Last season's team defenitley under preformed but at same time their were multiple reasons for it. One of the biggest one's was the way Coach Eddy left a lot of the boys never recovered from that or gave the new coach a chance. There was a lot of that is not the way coach Eddy done it or taught us. A lot of kids never bought in especially juniors and seniors.

Locos -- Mikes went to Minerva because he is originally from Canton ( played at Timken) and the Stark Co. area ( had parents still living there). I worked for him. He then went and coached in Cleveland suburbs. Adams left Zanesville to become Principal at Marion ,Oh.

Re: Coach Bart Reportedly Leaves Gallipolis
i had not heard that but did not see my son today. i do know that it was my understanding that he was sort of going to be the go to guy until a coach was named as far as winter workouts and such so i would not be surprised. he was also the first name i heard boys mention on who they would like to have. Good luck if it is true if not i hope they get someone in place soon.
Re: Coach Bart Reportedly Leaves Gallipolis
Hiring the one "boys" like is prolly a mistake, because very few of the "boys" will suggest the guy who will kick their butts enough to make them great.
Candidates Worth Considering:
Jason Peck -- at SG he has made the boys hard! Wing-T history and powerlifting passion.
Jared Sparlin -- yeah RV is RV, but people say he knows his stuff
Penrod --experience with a winning program and willing to study
Jeff Golden -- alum. Loves GA. College experience

Rob Woodard -- continued success at Burg. Gallia needs his college experience and HS experience.
Re: Coach Bart Reportedly Leaves Gallipolis
Dave Barr -- interviewed before, has won a state title in WV as a coach at Wahama. Please, no "WV FOOTBALL SUCKS" comments. They beat the teams on their schedule with the athletes in their school.
Re: Coach Bart Reportedly Leaves Gallipolis
Has the job even been posted yet. There is nothing on the schools site nor OHSAA they do have a volleyball coaching position open
Re: Coach Bart Reportedly Leaves Gallipolis
Will they post for a larger search, or are politics at work?
I was told that Bart was a placeholder until an alum felt ready to take the job.

I can promise you this.......DAVE BARR is in no way shape or form interested in GA. He was hired at Wahama last night.
