After braving the weather to see the young niece win a biddy ball championship, I thought I would check preps. Imagine my surprise to see the dog whining. Hmm, and throwing Coach Combs under the bus in the process. I guess he is no longer a FOP (friend of the program).

Too much of a 'risk' to play them - and we as fans will lose out.

I'm calling it right now ... Athens will be 20-0 at the draw next year!

lol
Akron svsm isn't coming down here. Athens almost beat them on their court, their refs, and Athens has has everyone back. Svsm loses a lot.

guess Vinton forgot they are in the same league as Athens. Pretty low on comb's part. Might see 100 next year at Vinton

100 is a bold statement raider considering both teams will have everyone back. This may be the start/reason to a heated/hated rivalry. Move over Wellston, we've got an actual good team to fight with now! :)

I didn't throw coach Combs under the bus ... I love coach Combs, he's a great dude!

What part, which post makes it appear I am throwing him under the bus?

Me posting who voted for which team? That would have made its way to preps no matter if I posted it or not.

ik 100 would never happen but if I was Athens, would be nice to see close VC vs Athens games next year

yea, thanks Dundas ... get me in trouble with the 'big guy' why don't ya ... lol ... When he comes knocking on my door I'm sending him over your way ... I want no part of Hawkeye.

Just because I'm upset over a team benefiting by playing a weaker schedule (Logan Elm) - doesn't mean I'm mad at the Vikes ... I will be there on Feb. 19th at 8:00pm cheering on the TVC (as I always am).

Totally disagree! Your never forced into doing the wrong thing.

But what's the wrong thing? Giving your kids the best chance to survive and advance?

I know what you are saying but you know darn well nearly every coach would vote in a way that was beneficial to his team...ESPECIALLY if he has been on the short side of it 2 or 3 times.

Agreed I92. Completely. Sheridan and VC did what was best for them and at the same time, LE did what it needed to do to be in position to get the top spot.

On the bright side Bishop Watterson might be coming to the convo

The only question I have on that statement Dundas is how (when the No. 1 was voted on) did VC know it was going to be the 5 seed? It didn't know it 'would be doing what was best for them' at the time LE was voted on. Wonder if Marietta got the 5 and VC got the 6 - then the Vikings would be playing Athens in the 1st round.

The #1 seed is voted on first.

I have a couple of observations:

1. Athens did a great job with their schedule this year! However, they didn't create the schedule with the #1 seed in mind - rather they played the tougher non-league games to challenge their teams and prepare themselves for a long tourney run. The same goes for Warren....hopefully, one of these teams makes a deep run!

2. Due to the way the SE district seeds the teams, Athens and Warren has every reason to feel that they got screwed! I agree 100% that VC and Sheridan very well may have voted LE #1 for their own selfish reasons..... But as has been pointed out above - go to the open district draw with 2 district brackets, and you get a much truer answer to what team(s) everyone avoids. I too have been waiting for the SE to go to the open draw and then the district games at the convo get MUCH better! (in all divisions)

3. Good Luck to all the teams in SE ohio - don't let the result of Sectional draws end your season. In the end it doesn't matter what seed you get.... go out and win the games in front of you and you will be Sectional/District/Regional/STATE CHAMPS. GOOD LUCK to all SE teams!

All very good points ... don't mind some of my posts ... I just get upset and spout off at the mouth ... it's a character defect that I've been trying to fix for years ... :-)

VC finished 3 games ahead of Marietta and probably we're pretty confident they they would get the 5.

17-1 with a win over Athens...how is that not good enough to get the 1 seed?? Had Athens NOT been 1 of LE's wins, then I think you make the case for strength of schedule.

VC has 10 wins ... Marietta has 9 wins.

and Marietta plays in the ECOL with some real heavyweights ... Confident? Maybe. But it wasn't a given.

When its all said and done Bishop Watterson and Wheeling Park may be state champions in Ohio and West Virginia.

Warren could have just as easily been 17-1 (had it not played them) - with the lone loss coming to a team (Portsmouth) which it later avenged.

How many losses for each bulldog? The Vikings schedule wasn't a cake walk either. 4 of those 6 losses were by 9 points or less.
