Re: DII LOGAN SECTIONAL RESULTS
^my bad, didn't see that. Our system is out of date. VC and Sheridan voted for LE because they play them the second game. Needs to be, pick your path. Watched all three teams play, I am biased but Athens is the number 1. Sucks the 6'3 freshmen shooting guard isn't playing. At Pickerington central but still lives in Athens lol

Yes, dad is an Ohio assistant basketball coach. Lives on Coventry in Athens. Both kids are down here every weekend. They are probably renting a house in Columbus. Hopefully he plays at Athens next year. All Athens needs is one player to make a big run

The kid would have been a terrific 7th man this year ... I can't believe he went north to play - he would have got plenty of playing time at Athens.

How did the Trojans fair tonight? LOL.. Ol' baseballstud knows a little more about basketball than you think, Dog!93Bulldog wrote:Devastating loss? Portsmouth is (a) one of the best teams in the southeast district - and Warren actually avenged the loss the 2nd time around. (b) Logan Elm's loss this year was to Liberty Christian by 15 points, which Portsmouth turned around and beat the very next day. Obviously the Trojans are a little better than what you are giving them credit for.baseballstud24 wrote:The only loss people care about is that loss to Portsmouth..That was a devastating loss for Warren!
Go back to working on your Reds baseball blog - this here is a 'basketball discussion.'

Anything which happens after the draw is nullified in this discussion ... lol ... Trojans were a 15-3 team when the teams drew Sunday (but more importantly they were Pfloyds #4 team in the Elite 8 ... ) ... 8)
And we play quarters - NOT innings.

Haha... I knew the "after tournament" argument was coming.. Hey.. I want Athens to make the deepest run possible in the tournament. Anything to keep them off the diamond!

I bet the Logan Elm coach was saying the same thing in October - except it was court instead of diamond ...

Bloom Carroll 55
Logan Elm 31
Yea that's the 5th best team in Ohio DII and the top team in the SE District. SMH!

Re: DII LOGAN SECTIONAL RESULTS
Logan Elm's Dillon Young, who averages 21.4 points per game, left for the rest of the game after suffering an injury to his ankle on a hard foul from behind with a minute to go in the first quarter. So you lose your best player, playing your fourth game in five days and playing against a team who would whip most teams in the SE District, on their home floor. Maybe you should check your facts first, WarriorBlue. :122249WarriorBlue wrote:Bloom Carroll 55

BTW...I agree with you LE isn't the fifth best team in Ohio. The AP poll is silly. How can Athens be ranked ahead of SVSM, whom they lost to, would be another example.

Re: DII LOGAN SECTIONAL RESULTS
I checked my facts. Wasn't the score correct? All that sounds like excuses to me. Lots of teams have played a screwed up schedule. Every team has injury issues. If you want to give excuses that's cool but the #1 seed shouldn't lose by 20. That's the very thing that you stated about Warren in their December loss to Bishop Watterson. Proof positive Logan Elm, Sheridam and Vinton Co kissed Karma tonight and she is a b.... She bit all 3 tonight

I will reserve my comments. Most folks can understand the facts listed above unless they have an agenda.WarriorBlue wrote:I checked my facts. Wasn't the score correct? If you are still bitter about the whole thing, go listen to the Viking Basketball Podcast. Coach Combs gives a nice breakdown of things. Blame the system, not the schools or coaches. It's time for the open draw.bman wrote:WarriorBlue wrote:I checked my facts. Wasn't the score correct? All that sounds like excuses to me. Lots of teams have played a screwed up schedule. PS I listened to the podcast agreed with most of what was said but not all!
Re: DII LOGAN SECTIONAL RESULTS
I have watched LE every game this year and they are not the same team. The last three games they have struggled to score and seem to be tired. I would agree with bman, when your leader and top scorer goes down in the fashion that Dillon went down last night that would hurt any team mentally and then obviously with scoring. I will make no excuses for why they lost last night and I don't think bman is, but LE would've lost last night against Bloom just merely for the way they have been playing. bman is also correct Bloom would beat most if not every team I have seen this year...including Athens, by the way they would have the "height and size" to match up with them as well. Hopefully Dillon Young gets back to the court by tournament time because he has worked very hard to get where he has gotten to for it to come down to hard/cheap foul to ruin his senior season.

Re: DII LOGAN SECTIONAL RESULTS
So since the coach in question made comments in the local paper about the officials for a game, those refs should no longer be used again? And since they were used, this excuses the coach's rant at the end of a close game that kept him from coaching his team down the stretch? Simple? If you say so. The problem is the comments he made offended many of the officials in this part of the state. So good luck finding a crew that isn't aware that the coach blamed the officials for that loss last year.93Bulldog wrote:I don't think my post says anywhere that Athens can't win with certain refs.
It says if there is history or animosity (by either party - the coach or crew of officials) then just use different refs.
Its not that complicated really.
I'm not saying its anyone's fault, I'm not blaming anyone - but to avoid any controversy what so ever - then just use a different crew. There are plenty of games, plenty of officials, it's not like either party would suffer from such a decision.

I don't want to see the young man have his senior season cut short.
The DII southeast district tournament should be terrific this year - I want all teams 100% healthy!

Also, are the Athens posters really complaining about a player from Athens playing somewhere else? Lol
