I think 10 years is usually the "guaranteed life", but some places have gotten more years. The initial installation cost is around $600K and I believe the replacement cost is around $250K. If you really consider all of the water, seed, fertilizer, paint, paint machine, stencils, cost of mower, cost of gas, labor to mow, etc. having turf is about an even trade-off. Plus consider the increased availability of the surface to more kids and that its usually used by more teams than just football (soccer, baseball, softball, band) it is a good investment. Also, you don't have to do major repairs after a rainy Friday night and in some cases, it decreases the need to maintain a practice field as long as everyone can work together on scheduling practices. I know at Burg this spring I have seen boys soccer, girls soccer, softball and baseball all on the turf at various times when conditions were not good enough or fields were not yet ready for practice/open fields.

See that's what I was thinking that's why I said I didn't know how accurate that was not sure why that says we got it in 2000

I thought the initial cost was more than $600,000. If that's the case and you can get it replaced for $250,000 that's not bad. I can see the benefits.

Any change to the design of the field or they just laying down the same thing and are they upgrading the sound system last year it sounded awful at times it sounded better later in the season but I was told by a student they just unhooked a blown speaker not sure if that was ever true or not

New design... The Indian head will be replaced by a "V" at midfield.

Speaker was blown at the end of last year... Those things have been there quite a while also.

I don't know if it is true, but I have heard that you need to have a fence completely around the field to host those games, which Valley does not have. Personally, I like the open feel of the field without a fence and I think it makes you feel closer to the action from the visitor's side. I would guess that replacing the indian head with a V is a pretty big cost savings.

Valley is completely enclosed. It has a wall around the entire field

I believe the thought it to make it harder for spectators to get onto the field (like the streaker from a few years ago). I know a 4 ft. fence doesn't really stop anyone who wants through, but it keeps fans from rushing the field in celebration or out of frustration. The current wall is around the STADIUM, not the FIELD.

Yeah I think the field needs to have a fence around it to host but I'd prefer they don't fence in the field it looks nicer without but the revenue from playoffs would be nice

The turf is completely gone inside the stadium. The crew got it taken up in less that 2 days.

July 3rd is the projected completion date. It will be one of the top surfaces in the region.

How is the team looking this year? Word is the line will be the hardest to replace.I know you all had a great underclassman running back last year.
