Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 8
Valley 75
South Webster 58
The Indians overcame a very slow and sluggish start to handle a very game Jeep squad at South Webster. The Indians were down 9 after 1 but led by 4 at the half. After again giving up the lead again in the late 3rd, Valley used a 14-0 run in a little over 2 minutes to seize control and get what I believe is their SE district leading 17th win.
Stats for the Indians:
28-55 from the field
24-39 from 2 (62%)
4-16 from 3 (25%)
15-27 from the stripe (56%) - Not good
Hayden Dunn again lead the Indians with 20 points on 9-13 shooting and 14 rebounds. Jordan West and Bryan Rolfe each added 12 points with West pulling down 8 boards and dishing out 4 assists. Rolfe lead the Indians with 5 assists. Zach Shope continued to be a very steady player at the point. Despite logging a ton a minutes at the point over the 19 games played this season, Shope only has 17 turnovers. Very solid. I thought the minutes provided by Ryan Brown and Ethan Clark-Holbrook off the bench tonight were outstanding. Both played huge roles in the run that put the game away. Brown finished with 11 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals while Holbrook added 8 points and 2 assists.
Indians improve to 17-2 and 11-0 in the SOC.

Logan Elm 62
Fairfield Union 40 final
... on paper this one had ALL of the ear marks of a no contest game ... about the only thing Fairfield Union had going in their favor was that the game was being played at FU and Logan Elm hadn't played a game since 1/23 ... the opening quarter was all Logan Elm led by senior guard Dillon Young's 13 points ( 3 treys included) ... LE looked to not skip a beat as the Braves forced FU to call a time out with less than 3 minutes having run off the clock LE leading 7-0 ... Dillon Young 13 FU 12 ... Dillon & Ridge Young 16 FU 12 ... Logan Elm 20 Fairfield Union 12 after one ... quarter #2 had the FU faithful on their feet as the Falcon's forced 4 Braves turnovers, FU pg Jordan Barr hit 2 threes of his own on his way to an 11 point 2nd quarter (13 for the half) ... Fairfield Union 30 Logan Elm 31 at intermission ...basketball - any basketball at any level- is a game of adjustments ... Coach Stiverson turned the game over to Coach Holbert's Defense in the 3rd period as LE came out trapping in the half court which effectively took the ball out of Barr's hands for FU (Barr scoreless in the 3rd) ... the LE defense turned the Falcons over 7 times in the frame with 3 ending in transition layups ... the Braves defense held FU to 1 point in the quarter while the Logan Elm offense found it's stride putting up 20 points ... Logan Elm 51 Fairfield Union 31 end of three ... the final quarter was more of the same Logan Elm defense center stage ... LE held FU to 4 points all from the charity stripe thru the 3:21 mark of the 4th ... Logan Elm did not give up a field goal for the first 12 minutes and 39 seconds of the 2nd half ... holding FU to 2 fgs,4 FTs in the final 16 minutes of play ... Logan Elm 62 Fairfield Union 40 a final ...
Pfloyd's Official "unofficial" Napkin Stats - Fairfield Union
Scoring ... Jordan Barr 20, Trent Johns 7, Matt Rose 5, Matt Smith 5, Thomas Green 3
3 Pointers ... 5/19 ... Barr 3, Green 1, Johns 1
FTs ... 7/9
TOs ... 15 ... 13 in the 2nd half under LE defensive pressure
... total number of FU " cheap seat" coaches in the stands - 6 that I could hear and count ...
Pfloyd's Official "unofficial" Napkin Stats - Logan Elm
Scoring ... Dillon Young 26, Ridge Young 12, Logan Thompson 10, Trent Congrove 6, Casey Tyler 6, Michael Cline 2
3 pointers ... 8/22 ... Dillon Young 6, Ridge Young 2
FT's ... 2/3
TOs ... 12
... this one was a good game for LE to get back into action with - FU a one dimensional team with Jordan Barr ... the outcome was never in doubt even with LE only leading by 1 at the half ... TEAM vs 1 ... TEAM wins ...

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 8
Pfloyd, if you are looking for a good game to watch on Saturday we have Southeastern at Circleville.
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 8
... THAT would be a very good game bman ...BUT I'm going to head out to Logan High School tonight to watch the Purple entertain trojandave's Portsmouth Trojans at Jim's Gym ... I have only seen PHS on film so I want to see the young guns of Coach Collins in-person ... this will give me a chance to compare the Logan Elm team I watched last night , these #5 Portsmouth Trojans and finally my co #2's Athens and Warren on Monday night ... I NEED to know firsthand WHO IS the #1 team in Southeastern Ohio - heck it might not be any of these teams ...could be that 17 win group of Indians down in Lucasville Valley or the round town boyz of Circleville ... Unioto is playing as well as anyone right now ... Zane Trace ? ... Miami Trace ?? ... Minford ??? ... I'm thinking that I have it pretty much narrowed down to the TEAMS I'm going to be seeing last night (LE) tonight (PHS) and Monday evening (AHS/WHS) ... if all else fails THE OUIJA BOARD will make an appearance !!! LOL

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 8
Seeing trojandave trumps all ... I would probably head over to Jim Myers as well ... lol
BTW, After seeing #1 Logan Elm, #5 Portsmouth, #2 Warren and #2 Athens over the course of 4 days - will there be a 'delay' in the top 8 this week? Perhaps a late 'Monday night' press release of Pfloyd's rankings?

Pfloyd, here's an interesting question and maybe another list for you to do...where does Fairfield Union's Jordan Barr stack up as far as top players in the district at the D2 level? Not saying the best, but he has to be in the top five range.

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 8
Tyler Cartee hits a three-pointer at the buzzer to send Southeastern past Circleville 37-36. Circleville's Justin Hill came up with a steal and layup to put the Tigers up 36-34 with 11 seconds left. Circleville played good defense on the last possession for SE and Cartee drained a nice three from the top-of-the-key.
Southeastern dictated a slower pace to the game, and Circleville didn't shoot very well from the field.
Reed Hugus had 10 for the Tigers, Will Giffin had nine and Michael Camp chipped in eight. Cartee paced the Panthers with 13 and Austin Hice had eight. Good ballgame, nice crowd. SE has a good ballclub.

Nice win for the Blue Lions over a state-ranked team.
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio -Week 8
Circleville must have used up all that hot shooting vs WCH .bman wrote:Tyler Cartee hits a three-pointer at the buzzer to send Southeastern past Circleville 37-36. Pfloyd you may always borrow my trusted 2 headed coin, it always seems to get the results that I want
