Let's see Warren beat Valley by double digits going away. Warren played JV kids the last 3 min. Athens needs a controversial call to beat Valley in 2OT. That makes perfect sense to pick Athens. Must be the way they wear those green and gold unis.

Warren has quietly getting better every game. Everybody knows about the big guns but the Warren coaching staff has steadily integrated the 6 new kids from last years 21-0 JV squad. If anyone thought with the schedule the Warriors play there weren't gonna be a few bumps in the road, you were mistaken. Losses in December can help turn teams into champions come March. Aaron Mazurkiwitz and Andrew Drayer have done a steady job starting for the Warriors. Andrew Henthorn - Instant Defense and Blake Kidder - Instant Offense have both contributed solid min the last 5-6 games. I'm almost sure Henthorn has drawn a charge every game. Kidder can hit the open trey but can and will attack the glass with authority. Marshal Church the big strong 6'5" Sr and 5'8" Fr Kyler Dennis give the Warriors insurance in case of foul trouble somewhere. Church can bang and play good defense in the post. Dennis can come in and knock down shots(ask Valley) if the occasion arises.
Since Athens plays 6 kids they don't have the same margin of error. This will be a heavyweight championship fight. Both teams are gonna throw haymakers. Both teams are gonna land a few. Which team can best limit turnovers and limit the damage inflicted by runs will win this game. Who can get up off the mat and throw a haymaker of their own?
Lot of eye candy on the floor(French-Hall-Patton, Watson-Borrows) but I think the role players and the coaching staffs are the difference in this one.

GO BIG BAD BLUE!

Warren lead Valley by 1 with a quarter to play and won by 13 points, hardly "going away". According to the game log, here (http://www.hsgamecenter.com/basketball/ ... 0657/plays) French exited with 59 seconds left, Hall with :47 left, and Patton had a rebound in the last :47. So, I guess the JV's are actually the "big 3". Warren beat Valley 36 hours after the Indians had lost a former coach in a tragic auto accident. Athens and Valley played 20 hours after Athens had played ASVSM in Akron.

There are different factors in each game played. Common opponent mean very little. The poster gave his opinion. I understand that you don't have to like it. Having said all that, I have seen both teams play against my Indians and I too was more impressed with Athens. Warren is a great team as well, and may very well win at home, but I will take the Dogs by 3.

I'M DYING TO KNOW WHAT THE OUIJA BOARD SAYS, FLOYD????

... not sure even the ALL Powerful Ouija Board has the answer for this one - it has to be settled on the court, Tuesday night at the Warrior Dome ... the Ouija Board votes "present" LOL ... I have had the pleasure of watching both of these TEAMS multiple times throughout the season so far - I could go to other games but I like watching well coached, talented basketball teams play vs quality opponents ... every game I have seen that included Athens or Warren has been a quality game that showed me something about each team whether that was Athens or Warren ... Warren vs Meigs, Athens vs Logan Elm, Warren vs Lucasville Valley, Athens vs Circleville, Warren vs Logan, Warren vs Fairland, Athens vs Lucasville Valley ... IF I'm forced to go with what my "eye tests" tell me Athens has the edge imo looking at the Bulldogs first 6 vs the Warren first 6 ... when you go beyond 6 Warren has the decided advantage off the bench ... no Ouija Board input - Athens has turned the corner with Lutz being tested but having passed all the tests thrown at him so far this season - Borrow has upped his game to where he may be not only the best QB in SEO but the best basketball player in SEO - I know that is a very arguable observation ...

... will Athens get the "W" at the WarriorDome? even with what I have seen Burrow & Watson on paper vs French & Patton are a wash ... For Warren Michael Hall will be key number 1 - how much of a factor will he be in this one? IF he handles the ball, gets to the rim, distributes as he can Warren will be difficult to beat at home ... the varsity "rookies" Kidder/Drayer/Maz HAVE TO BE a factor both offensively and defensively - they can't be tentative offensively ... the rest of the bench Henthorn/Church/Dennis have to hold their own when they are on the floor ... Athens - Saltzman needs to be a threat to keep the Warren Defense respect his presence on the court, Lutz is outstanding defensively - rebounding/blocking shots/on ball D - plays bigger than 6-0 ... he will need to show the 3 ball imo ... then for Athens how physical will the Luehrman x2 be on the boards - this is where Warren may be vulnerable - in the paint - neither Ryan/Adam Luehrman can hesitate getting to the rim/if they wait the Warren quickness gets to the big men to help ... SOOOOOOOOOO many great match ups to watch, so many games within the game at both ends of the floor - I'm going to be smiling for the 32+ minutes of this one!!! ...

... Best of luck to both of these great representatives of basketball Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line ... Coach Skinner & Coach Maddox you have both done an outstanding job bringing your teams along this season - just another game right? okay maybe not ...

... my prediction Ouija Board consultation included - last team with the ball and 10 sec or less on the clock gets the "W" ... too close to call a team, but I can say that with my statement the outcome is determined on the court by THE winning team in the last 10 seconds ...

It's going to epic for sure Floyd ... they should have moved it to the Convo though ... not a big fan of the WARRIOR DOME ... lol ... being jammed in like a sardine is not fun at all.

But I am stoked about the next two days ... Live from McAfee at 6:00 tomorrow night - may get coach Skinner on for a couple segments - then call the big match-up between Athens and Oak Hill ... going live from Warren high school at 6:00 on Tuesday with WarriorBlue doing a special cameo - followed by the big clash between Athens/Warren!!!

I'm pumped Floyd - I almost forgot there are football games on today ... lol

11-3 vs 11-3

Pfloyd #2 vs Pfloyd #3

What a regular season game this late in the season ... usually we're just sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting on the tournament to start this time of year.

Warren 63
Hartley 52 final

Athens stands at 11-3 , Warren 11-3 ... 93dog you KNOW that had you not invoked the "NO TIE" rule for the Elite 8 this season that I would have Athens/Warren deadlocked at #2 after the Warren "W" on the road/neutral court at West Muskingum over 8-2/now 8-3 Hartley ... hmmm talk about momentum heading into Tuesday night at the WarriorDome ...Coach Maddox and the Warrior Blue have it ... sounded like/read like Michael Hall put on a show in the 3rd with a couple 3 pointers backed up by 2 dunks ... one of the "keys" - Mike Hall just made a statement as to the fact that he is ready for Tuesday night imo ...

... Warren/Athens virtual tie for #2 on the Elite 8 ...

... Is it Tuesday yet??????!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, no, no, no, no ... there is no such thing as a "virtual tie" ... it clearly states in this weeks Elite 8 ... Athens #2, Warren #3 ... LOL

The Ouija board does not recognize ties anymore ... we sent it in over the summer to get fixed and that's how Floyd got it back.

I'm with ya PFloyd stoked isn't a strong enough word. Biggest game of the year 4sure. PFloyd usually agree with you 100% of the time but I think I gotta say you missed a great opportunity this week. In the famous PFloyd Elite Poll. Warren and Athens deserve to be co #1. At this stage of the year they both are playing tremendous basketball right now. Both are stocked with unbelievable talent, most importantly if playing ANY other team in the SE District each would be the favorite. I realize LE has the better record but SOS clearly isn't where Warren and Athens are.

Right now the Warriors are hitting on all cylinders and playing with confidence. Teams that believes in themselves are the toughest outs. The biggest improvement has been on the defensive end of the floor. No easy shots here. Warren will make Athens work hard for EVERY shot. Mazurkiwitz, Henthorn and Kidder will not be intimated by Athens. All 3 are tough nosed kids.
How this game is officiated will be key. If it's a closely called contest because of depth Warren's advantage. Losing Watson or Borrow to early foul trouble would be distasterous for the Bulldogs. Losing French or Hall to foul trouble would be huge but not a deal breaker. Warren has enough asserts in reserve they are better equipped to withstand such devastating turn of events.
Gym will be packed, popcorn hot & ready. Let's get it on!

GO BIG BAD BLUE!

Athens did not, however, pick the venue WarriorBlue ... I'm sure they prefer not to play big games in 'crackerjack boxes' ... lol

Should have done what they did in 'Friday Night Lights' ... "where should we play? How about the Astrodome?!"

"Where should we play 'Dogs vs Warriors'? How about the Convo?!"
