This is already tons more interesting than the last 5 sectional tourneys put together. It breaks up the geographical boundaries so teams are facing schools they didn't play in the regular season. Also, every round has some interesting matchups. Monroe Central vs. Martins Ferry in round one is going to be a great contest. The probable St. Clairsville/Garaway matchup in round 2 has two solid basketball programs squaring off. #5 Buckeye Trail has regular season wins over #2 Fort Frye and #3 Monroe Central and have a chance to make a nice tourney run. It's a wide open race to The Convo.

Also, I notice that Ferry could have scheduled themselves for a much easier first round game, but they must feel real good about their chances against the #3 Seminoles. It also appears to me that teams were staying away from St. Clairsville. #13 Coshocton chose to take on #1 Union Local rather than face The Red Devils.

Kinda interesting that not one team picked to play Fort Frye in round 1

That was because Dover chose to take on Union Local. After they were taken, Fort Frye was the highest remaining seed.

Harrison Central chose to travel to Meadowbrook, where they'd face Fort Frye in round 2. They could have taken the shorter trip to Claymont for a similar round 1 game.

If you look at it Harrison Central had no logically choice they were beat all the Buckeye 8 teams and lost by 33 to Ferry.

My picks for districts are Fort Frye vs St Clairsville and Union Local vs Trail.. Union Local could bow out early since they lost the teams pg on sat.

Since I haven't seen Trail this year and Ferry seems to be hot, I'll take The Purple Riders and The Jets to come out of the bottom bracket. Fort Frye got a great draw, and the district coaches say Garaway is better than St. Clairsville, so I'll expect them to advance as well.

Martins Ferry needed overtime, but they were able to slide past Monroe Central Friday night 61-59. Buckeye Trail, who also has a win over The Seminoles, will play The Purple Riders in round 2. Still looking forward to the probable Garaway/St. Clairsville game if both can win their first round games tomorrow night.

Trails combo of Toland and Starr throttled Newcomerstown 67-39. Newcomerstown beat a young Garaway team by 20 in dec.

I don't believe Toland and Gray can handle the Martins Ferry bigs inside. Not expecting much from Trail

What Eastern said. After watching the Ferry/MC game, I was not impressed with Ferry at all. Very little guard play, and the big's didn't show a whole lot, other than just being big. As long as Toland stays out of foul trouble, I feel as though Trail should take this one.

Garaway smashed Shenandoah 83-53 and St C beat Ridgewood 71-45 to set up a sectional final Friday winner getting Harrison Central vs Fort Frye winner.
