Haven't seen the Indians play this year, but obviously they are playing well. The Trojans are a much better team than they showed early in the season, and one of the main reasons is because they have executed more efficiently against the zone defenses that they have seen in virtually every game. Portsmouth is a very tough matchup for anybody in a man to man situation due to the stellar guard play and quickness that the Trojans have, and as a result PHS has had to shoot well from the perimeter. They have done just that, and against Piketon knocked down around 10 three-pointers. Sky Oliver was absolutely on fire from the arc, and his offensive game is really starting to pick up, as well as Alex Dickerson, who buried a couple of treys. Freshman Kendall Reynolds also contributed to the 3 point barrage. Overall, the Trojans are a more complete offensive team, and now don't have to rely on Kyre Allison to carry them, although Allison can take the leadership role if necessary.

On defense, the Trojans use their quickness to create havoc in the halfcourt, trapping and squeezing ballhandlers into corners and the baseline. Portsmouth's quickness was the main reason they beat Warren at the Warriordome. PHS has been undersized against virtually every team this year, as they were vs. Warren and Liberty Christian(FL), and the Trojans have fared well on the glass due to rebounding by committee. They have been disruptive enough in the paint defensively as well.

I saw the Indians and Trojans play this summer at Waverly.......Beau Justice is truly an outstanding player, who has a versatile offensive game, being able to score outside or beating a defender off the dribble. But you don't go 10-0 being a one man team. Peebles has other kids that have stepped up their game.

I don't pick winners in any game, to remove myself from being a homer. Both teams are playing well. The Trojans have played a more challenging schedule, and most likely will be the toughest test the Indians have faced thus far.

Portsmouth as a lot of athletes to throw at Justice more so than anyone they have played to this point. Peebles is a good team though I look for others to step up and this to be a track meet !!

This game is up in the air for me. I have been slightly confused by Portsmouth this season. Some games they play like the best team in the district(beating Warren and a Prep team that beat Logan Elm, plus a close game with a pretty good John Hay team) and others they look very beatable (18 point loss to a decent South Point team and only winning by 14 against a winless Ironton squad which lost to Peebles by 25). Peebles has played some solid competition this year (at Eastern Brown, at West Union X2, at Lynchburg Clay, and a decent Eastern Pike team at home) but Portsmouth does have the advantage in schedule strength to this point. Peebles won the matchup last season but this is a completely different team following the loss of a very good senior class, though Portsmouth had a fairly significant loss also (Jayllen Carter). I believe that Beau Justice is the most talented player in the southeast district this year but I also think Portsmouth has the athletes to limit his production while forcing other players to make big shots down the stretch. This hasn't been a problem for us in the last few games against West Union and Lynchburg whose sole defensive purpose was to slow Beau down by constantly double teaming and face guarding him because guys like Cody Ireton, Eric Schmitz, and Zach Arrasmith have stepped up. I'm not sure if that same production will stay consistent against a team like Portsmouth however. Playing the game at Portsmouth is also an advantage for the Trojans, but like I said we have beat a handful of good teams on the road already (most notably Eastern Brown). Portsmouth is probably better than anyone Peebles would play in the D4 tournament until the regional championship so I am looking forward to seeing how they stack up, too bad I will not be able to make the game. Good luck to the Indians!

This will certainly be a high velocity game in which endurance could be a factor among other things. Can't wait to watch a great ballgame and I wish the Indians of Peebles the best of luck tonight.

Streetballer, why do you even post on here? You contribute nothing to the topic.I realize you hate Peebles, and your always going to pick against us,but you know nothing about bastketball. Now to the topic.Peebles is playing very well, and it will be there toughest test.Ithink it will hurt losing Gordley,he has played very well. One of the reasons the Indians have been successful, has been the rotation of its big men, with Gordley out,i think its a big loss.Johnson,Ryan, and kermin, have been doing a great job,and hopefully, that will continue.I have no pick,Portsmouth is a very talented team, and have beat some very good teams,if the Indians continue playing good defense, and there hustle and desire to win continues,i think it can be a very close game. Go Indians

Portsmouth was 11-15 for 3 pointers against Piketon, that is 73.3%. Many of the looks were contested and still couldnt disrupt them.

Portsmouth has looked impressive in the couple of games I've seen them. This may be a close one in the first half, but I don't believe Peebles can hang around with the speed and multiple substitutions of Portsmouth.

8th grade game. 27-12 Portsmouth at the half. I getting updates over the phone so I have very little info on what is going on. I was told Portsmouth has a ton of height. Can anyone give a little more info on these kids? They must be the real deal, I think the Peebles junior high has only lost once or twice.

TribeManiac10: The Portsmouth 8th grade does indeed have a lot of size........4-5 kids around 6-0 or 6-1. They have about a 6-3 record coming into this game, and have good players at virtually every position. I look for 2 or 3 of the 8th graders to be brought up to JV next season. Our freshmen team is 7-1 even without Kendall Reynolds, who plays varsity full time. Trojan basketball looks solid for the next 3-4 years......5 of the top 6 varsity players back for next season as well.

Portsmouth 8th grade won 43-28. Looks like the Indians started to settle down after a rough 1st half. They played even with the Trojans through the final two periods. Peebles JV is up 27-24 at the half.

If the Peebles varsity can pull out a win tonight that would go a long way toward moving into the top 5 in the next AP Poll.

Portsmouth up 27-20 at the half. Heard Beau is scoreless to this point. Only down 7 with your leading scorer having no points isn't a bad sign for the second half though. Hopefully they finish strong.
