When comes down to it no matter how tough the schedule is you still lost 3 games. Logan Elm has one loss and a win over Athens. Respect coach Stiverson and his program so far they have the best reg season reward that.

That is completely false.EasternDspy wrote:When comes down to it no matter how tough the schedule is you still lost 3 games. Logan Elm has one loss and a win over Athens. Respect coach Stiverson and his program so far they have the best reg season reward that.
Warren could just as easily be (15-0) with Logan Elm's schedule.
Athens went 19-1 EasternDspy in this Logan sectional a few years back and WAS NOT rewarded the No. 1 seed. Overall record is not the end all, especially when schedules/opponents differ so much.

Re: DII Logan Sectional
To compare the 2014 Logan Elm schedule to the 2009 Athens schedule is a bit of a stretch.
As far as the top three, we're all grasping for straws at the end of the day. They're three similar teams who could as easily beat one another as lose.
Warren's and Athens' arguments come down to, well look at these teams we played and lost to, you would too. And that argument could be quite right. So let's add two more losses for Athens (Liberty Christian plus Watterson), three more for Warren (Liberty Christian, SVSM and school Athens lost to in Florida) and three more for Logan Elm (SVSM, Watterson and school Athens lost to in Florida). So we revise the, you can't beat this team record's argument, and Logan Elm has four losses, Athens has five and Warren has six. If you want to throw Park in there for LE and Athens, it's five, six and six. Your SOS argument is gone and LE still has one more win, plus the head-to-head over Athens.
As far as some of the quality wins - let's compare three of LE's and Warren's.
Fort Frye - opponents records its beaten
91-127
FCA - opponents records its beaten
71-129
WCH - opponents records its beaten
98-115

Re: DII Logan Sectional
Fort Frye is pretty good team playing a few bad league teams like Shenandoah 3 wins and River 2 wins can skew that number. Fort Frye has beat Monroe 12 wins , Caldwell 11 wins and St Clairsville.
Re: DII Logan Sectional
So can I make the same argument for Logan Elm then?
Warren has a 121-83 record against team's its beaten, which is good. Logan Elm is 124-125, but has beaten four teams that are combined 6-63 (Amanda twice, Westfall, Hamilton Township) which severely bring down its number. To be fair, Warren's number is being dragged down too by Logan and Jackson...5-26 combined. Logan Elm has one more game before the draw against Hamilton Township, which is 0-16. Warren has yet to play Logan or Jackson again and its game, to my knowledge, against New Lex (5-10) was scratched by inclement weather.
Athens is 94-99 according to Maxpreps. Jackson's 0-16, to be fair, does hurt Athens' overall number.
All this is Maxpreps, so the numbers may be slightly off.

Re: DII Logan Sectional
With that philosophy - you are downplaying Warren's decision to play defending state champion Watterson and West Virginia state power Wheeling Park.EasternDspy wrote:You have to reward Logan Elm for the best record.
If were going to just go off records - then there is no reason to play those teams. The last time Athens did that (not play a tough schedule) in 2009 they were punished for it - now you're saying a team should be rewarded.
For Warren to come back and beat a team, which is lost to the 1st time around, should also be taken into consideration. It shows how much they have improved over the course of the season.
As an Athens fan - I'm not going to sit here and defend and talk up Warren unless facts don't back it up. The Bulldogs nor the Braves have put together a better resume than the Warriors - that's just how it is.

You act like Logan Elm plays dogs and that's not true. Wheeling Park and Portsmouth are good teams but Warren has more talent those are games they should of won.

Re: DII Logan Sectional
Your talking about the same Portsmouth team that beat the team which handed Logan Elm its only loss.EasternDspy wrote:You act like Logan Elm plays dogs and that's not true. Wheeling Park and Portsmouth are good teams but Warren has more talent those are games they should of won.
Re: DII Logan Sectional
And Portsmouth lost to South Point by 15. Circleville beat South Point. So by that logic Circleville is better than Portsmouth, and they would've won that Florida tournament then as well.

If anything if you want to put Warren 1 that be ok but no way is Athens ahead of them as of now.

Logan Elm hasn't played dogs - but there schedule doesn't look like that. Yea, they beat Athens 60-59 early the season when the Bulldogs had about 6 or 7 practices under their belt. I just don't think a '1-point win' over 1 really good team is going to cut the mustard in impressing other coaches at the draw in Jackson.

What the heck do you think I have been saying?EasternDspy wrote:If anything if you want to put Warren 1 that be ok but no way is Athens ahead of them as of now.
I haven't mentioned Athens as the 1, or even the 2, this entire thread!
Re: DII Logan Sectional
The No. 1 right now is between Warren and Logan Elm in my view, with the Warren-Athens game pushed back to after the draw not giving Athens a good opportunity to show itself. We're really grasping at straws to determine whom is better between the three, because Athens is right up there with those two teams, but unfortunately doesn't have an opportunity to make a big impact before the draw.
If Warren is voted No. 1, LE folks will feel disrespected and if LE is voted No. 1, Warren folks will feel disrespected. The feeling of disrespect will probably be a little overboard since it's a hard decision between two pretty good teams.

Courthouse, Bloom Carroll , Athens , Chillicothe. I'm not saying they are better then Warren but the Warriors did lose 2 games in Vincent.
Re: DII Logan Sectional
Grasping for straws...1a, 1b and 1c. Maybe we should schedule a round robin to finish the week. :122249

Wheeling Central is talented (10-3) team but I feel Warren let a lesser team beat them on it home floor.
