The weather, postponements, cancellations has sucked the excitement right out of me. (especially the Athens vs Warren match-up being put off)

At this point, I don't care about making any more arguments for any team. All three, IMO, can make a descent case to be the No. 1.

All that matters now is what those 9 coaches think in Jackson Sunday.

A question to ponder is whether Warren and Athens work together to ensure that they do not meet until districts. Would not be surprised to see Athens at number 1 and Logan Elm and Warren as the 2/3 seeds.

Not sure how your scenario of Athens being #1 would or could even happen ... imo Athens falls behind Warren the strength of schedule argument ... both teams beat D3 #7 Lucasville Valley albeit that Athens had to do it in 2OTs ... Warren beat current AP #12 Columbus Hartley as well ... Athens lost in that early, early matchup with Logan Elm at McAFee in Athens ... I can see Warren at #1 over both Athens and Logan Elm ... I can see the possibility of Logan Elm over both Warren and Athens on record alone being at 15-1 and having not been beaten by a team in Southern/SEOhio or an Ohio team period this season LOL ...

... imo Athens at #1 without having played and beaten Warren is not a scenario that gets played out ... HOWEVER there ARE games to played yet this week - Warren HAS TO beat Fort Frye Wednesday night and Jackson Friday night ... Athens needs to win at Meigs, at Nelsonville and home vs the bottled water guys of Propel out of Pa Saturday night AND last but not least LE has Teays Valley, home vs Circleville Friday and at Hamilton Twp Saturday night ... so I suppose bottom line is "we will see how the game scenarios play out in the Week that IS " before I can say you are totally wrong with the 1.Athens 2/3 LE or Warren in no particular order other than your Athens pic at #1 ...

Imo, I would have
1. Logan Elm
2. Warren
3. Athens
4. Sheridan
5. Vinton Co.

Assuming the top 5 win their games this week.

Dundas ... THAT scenario could very well be the one as Logan Elm is the only team to beat any of the teams vying for the #1 spot ... best record to boot going into the meetings (should everyone hold serve this week - which is NOT a given by the way) ... I think the only way Athens gets the #1 spot is if Warren loses to Fort Frye Wednesday night AND Logan Elm drops their head to head Friday at home vs Circleville ...

If the Warriors can beat the Cadets at home that will make 6 quality wins. They've done EVERYTHING they could. Nobody in the SE District has as many impressive wins. If the coaches wanna hang their hat on two December games, Warren vs Portsmouth and Athens vs LE, then I guess the remainder of the schedule was meaningless. I don't believe that to be the case. I think after looking at the body of work, taking into account how the teams are currently playing and WHO they've beaten Warren will get the nod hands down.

IMO
Possible votes for #1
Warren - Warren, Marietta, Athens, Vinton, Meigs
Logan Elm - Logan Elm, Fairfield Union, Sheridan and New Lexington

1. Warren
2. Logan Elm
3. Athens
4. Sheridan
5. Vinton County
6. Marietta
7. Meigs
8. Fairfield Union
9. New Lexington

I think the coaches will manipulate this after the vote for #1. Warren and Athens will not want to play each other in the sectional. TVC, Warren and Marietta will decide this.

If LE gets the nod as #1, don't be surprised if Sheridan gets #3. I know it sounds cynical but until they do the super sectional, things like this will happen.
BTW this is no disrespect to LE or Sheridan as they can easily be the two in the districts anyway.

keep in mind Athens was on a bus for 6 hours and played one of the top teams in the state less than 24 hours before they stepped onto the floor with Valley.

The Dogs were dead tired in the 2nd half at Chesapeake and it showed.

We've stated the resumes 200 times. Warren has a very fine resume of some nice quality wins. Logan Elm does as well with Athens, Bloom-Carroll, WCH, Circleville, Teays Valley and Chillicothe may even be playing in at the bottom of the list. Both teams are pretty good.

Really, LE, Warren and Athens should all be at the Convo, on paper, but won't because of the throwback way the district does the tournament. Now a team like Sheridan could throw a cork into things in the Logan sectional and I'm sure there are a few teams in the SE sectional that feel slighted because the consensus has been the Logan sectional gets the district crown.

I'm ready to finish the regular-season, who collects the league hardware, and get into the tourney.

Her's the question.

Out of Warren, Athens, and Logan Elm, which 1 of those would nobody else want to play and in what order?

Answer - Athens or Warren. Or Warren or Athens.

Exactly! Athens/Warren or Warren/Athens should be 1& 2 seed.

Not sure why everyone believes only Warren and LE have legitimate claims to 1 seed but that is just my opinion. If any team in that sectional had to pick one of the 3 teams Athens, Logan Elm or Warren to play my guess would be LE. Maybe 93bulldog should do a poll?

Another quality win tonight for the high flying Warren Warriors as they pound Fort Frye 78-59. The Warriors were rolling on all cylinders as Evan French poured in 37 points with the rest of the scoring balanced with Hall 14, Henthorn 12 and Patton 10 points. Once French showed his hot hand the rest of the Warriors shared the ball working hard, setting good hard screens to get French open looks. When that didn't occur French just went and got WHATEVER shot he wanted WHENEVER he wanted. West Liberty is getting one heck of a player that's 4sure. Maddox coached teams long known for tuff physical play, throwing down dunks with regularity the 2014 Warriors play above the rim as well. Add Evan French's ability to destroy zone defenses and Warren is playing their BEST basketball as tournament time approaches.

GO BIG BAD BLUE!

.. with last night's 78-59 win over a very good Fort Frye ball club imo Warren solidifies it's argument as the #1 seed ... here is the way it should go down on Sunday (without the Warren vs Athens game being played) ...

1. Warren (14-3)
2. Logan Elm (15-1)
3. Athens (13-3)

4. Sheridan (12-4)
5. Marietta (8-8)
6. Vinton County (8-6)
7. Fairfield Union (6-10)
8. Meigs (8-7)
9. New Lexington (5-10)

The million dollar question is: do coaches vote on who EARNED the #1 throughout the season ... or ... do they vote who they think is THE BEST team right now?

It's similar to the age old debate at the professional level about MOST VALUABLE PLAYER on a given year - or - the BEST player in the league.

It all depends on how each coach interprets the reasoning a team should be #1.

When it comes to the NCAA selection committee - it's 'what have you done lately' ... how 'good' are you now. But this is HS basketball - not the NCAA - so it will be interesting to see how the voting/seeding plays out.

If coach (a) thinks a team earns it throughout the entire season then he may vote Logan Elm ... if coach (b) likes what a team has done lately he may vote Warren ... if coach (c) thinks Athens is the best team of the three he may vote for Athens.

Bottom line: nothing is for certain heading into Sunday's draw.

Coaches vote on matchups and avoiding certain teams. If a two seed has an easier district game and can avoid 1 seed until regionals then that is best route to take. Remember district games cross over and play se sectional.
It's all about the matchups and avoidance.

Logan Elm will get the 1 seed because of their win over Athens. How can you reward a team with 3 losses the number 1 seed when LE only has 1 loss??
