Norm at Oak Hill is the best at looking down the road to the District. He has had the best record before and wanted and got a lower seed then a Number one. So it is about match ups down the road. I've seen Sheridan twice this year and let me tell you, they can play with either of those top three. Don't count them out.

Sheridan beat a great John Glenn team.

2. Logan Elm (15-1)
3. Athens (13-3)

4. Sheridan (12-4)
5. Marietta (8-8)
6. Vinton County (8-6)

8. Meigs (8-7)
9. New Lexington (5-10)

Looks good although one exception. Swap Marietta and Vinton Co that would prolly get all the TVC votes.
These things are mostly decided b4 the coaches get in the room. Last Sunday Belpre girls were in the same position as LE and walked out with a #3 seed.

When you play Akron SVSM, Bishop Watterson or a team like Bishop Eustace - you are going to have a few losses.

Warren and Athens won't be punished because they 'stepped up' and played the BIG BOYS.

I can promise you coaches feel the same way - you will see come Sunday afternoon.

Let me give you a quick history lesson. For years Vinton County was the lone TVC team in this sectional and I know they feel like they have been shafted at seeding time on numerous occasions. Meigs has bounced back and forth, but even still VC/Meigs were the minority in the Logan sectional. Athens then moves to the TVC in 2009 - and even they probably feel slighted after going 18-1 and not receiving the 1 seed a few years ago. When Gallia, Marietta, Warren, Athens (and even Jackson sometimes) were all in this sectional the SEOAL did what was in the best interest of the SEOAL. Now that VC, Meigs and Athens are the majority - why wouldn't they do the same? I'm not saying it's right - but I'm not a coach - I didn't lead a team to what I thought was a terrific season only to be seeded lower than expected because of league superiority. We can't in one breath say it was o.k. for the SEOAL to do for 10 years - but now it's not for the TVC. That is being very hypocritical.

It is what it is. This is the system they have created. We can complain all we want. If we were able to go back and look at jjhuddle and old SEOP threads we would see the same argument being made by different fans depending on what year it was.

Please stop comparing Logan Elm to Belpre girls. Everyone knows Belpre isn't very good. Plus is don't matter Sheridan is very good to.

I don't think he was comparing LE to Belpre. He was making a point that 'best record' wasn't the determining factor in that sectional is all.

I tried to make this as objective as possible /put it all on team performance & opponents ... I watched Logan Elm beat Fairfield Union last Friday, watched Portsmouth Saturday , was looking forward to the Athens @ Warren matchup Monday that did not/will not happen ... thill2010 it has been posted/reposted . argued/reargued on any number of threads as to HOW a one loss Logan Elm team COULD lose the #1 seed to either Warren or Athens - both 3 loss teams ... so I'm not even going there ...SO I went at this in a non subjective manner this go around, looking at all the angles that may be looked at Sunday in jackson- here' what I came up with ... I've based my order of seeding on what I have seen from each of the top 3 teams - Logan Elm , Warren , Athens ... Strength of Schedule ... over all performance for the entire season , common opponents/head to head matchups ,the "what have you done for me lately" test, and Strength of 2014 portion of the schedule opponents ... I have seen each of the top 3 contenders 4 games a piece ...

... Napkin Stats for Logan Sectional #1 Seed ...

Record : Logan Elm +3, Warren +2, Athens +2
SOS : Warren +3, Athens +2, Logan Elm +1
Overall Performance based on opponents played : Warren/Athens/Logan all +3
Common Opponents/head to head match ups : Logan Elm +2 beating Athens (+0) ... Warren +1 beating Valley/Athens +1 beating Valley
What have you done for me lately performance: Logan Elm +3, Warren +3, Athens +3 all winning in the 2014 portion of the season ...
Points for strength of opponents in 2014 portion of schedule : Warren (W) Hartley/(W)Portsmouth/(W) FVA/(W) Fort Frye +3 pts, Athens (W) Circleville, (L) ASVSM, (W) Valley 2OTS +2 pts, Logan Elm (W) Bloom Carroll +1 ...

6 Categories :

Logan Elm ... +3 , +1, +3, +2, +3, +1 = 13
Athens ... +2, +2, +3, +1, +3, +2= 13
Warren ... +2, +3, +3, +1, +3, +3 = 15

... Top 3 in the Logan Sectional based on Pfloyd Napkin Stats ...

1. Warren
2. Logan Elm (with the head to head win over Athens deciding places #2 & #3)
3. Athens

Logan Elm plays Circleville Friday and Hamilton Twp on Saturday which could lead to Logan Elm being 17-1 and 11-0 in league play

PFloyd outstanding analysis. You're correct also about TVC getting hosed in the past. I was mainly posting my thoughts as if I were gonna be in the room. I just think the TVC is gonna vote Athens what they feel is an easier route. Hard to vote for your undefeated conference champion to play a battle tested returning regional champion. No choice is a good choice.
We tend to leave Marietta out of the conversation but Coach Duck has really brought that group along. They have a better record than Vinton Co so maybe they do end up in the 4-5 game.
I think 93Dog should have a live show from outside the draw. Have the famous PFloyd on to help with analysis. Interview the coaches after they come out of the room.

If Logan Elm is indeed the 2 seed than they would have to go thru Athens to get to the Convo

Warren has played mostly Division 3 teams all year except for Watterson and ASVSM

I had coach Skinner on yesterday and we talked about the draw, amongst other things ... just skip ahead to the last segment if you don't want to hear about the Lady 'Dogs ... lol

here is the podcast from last nights show ... IT'S #67 LABELED 'HORLSEY & SKINNER' ..... http://wxtq.com/sports/2013/07/04/the-s ... -podcasts/

The good news - only a few more days until all the speculating can end and the actual seedlings (for better or worse) will be known.

The bad news - then we can all start debating who got screwed and why.

As I have said, I hate wish my life away, but the Logan Sectional can't get here soon enough.

Warren didn't play ASVSM - Athens did.

If you want to compare playing BIG SCHOOLS, Athens played 2 teams down in Florida with over 2,000 students and another private boys school with over 600 boys ... basically 3 Division I teams.

D1 OPPONENTS

North Miami
Bishop Eustace
Shawnee NJ

D2 OPPONENTS

Akron SVSM
Logan Elm
Circleville
Vinton County x2
Meigs x 2
New Lex
Jackson

D3 OPPONENTS

Lucasville Valley
Alexander x2
Wellston x2
Nelsonville-York x2

Who would have the easiest road to a district final out of Warren LE and Athens?

If Logan Elm was in the Southeastern sectional than we wouldn't be having this discussion about who is the number 1 seed

INTRESTING FACTS:

THE LAST 14 MONTHS THESE 3 TEAMS (WHO HAVE VIRTUALLY THE SAME PLAYERS NOW AS LAST YEAR) RECORD AGAINST EACH OTHER.

Athens - 56
Logan Elm - 53 (OT)

Warren - 60
Athens - 57

Logan Elm - 60
Athens - 59

Warren - 74
Athens - 69 (OT)

* 3 teams, 4 games separated by 2 overtimes and just 12 points!

Nobody can say for certain one is really better than the other, IMO.

The bad thing about your interesting fact - Athens is 1 - 3 in these games. That HAS to change. They have to get better at closing or winning in crunch time.
