Re: BESIDES TURF, WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE IRONTON FIGHTING TIGER
What would be neat, Orange yard numbers outlined with black!

Some were wondering about the tiger head in the middle of the field. The drawing I saw looked like the one on the wall of the Conley Center. Don't hold me to that but I do think that is what it was. Very nice, a mixture of orange and black. Yard markings I do believe are in white, as are the hash marks.

It wil be nice to see the new field next season. I think it will be a big plus for the community.

I know both Nelsonville-York and Logan have benefited from the installation of turf!OSU 77 wrote:It wil be nice to see the new field next season. I think it will be a big plus for the community.

Once the turf is down I look for improvements in the physical layout of the Tank to change dramatically.......new restrooms......new snack stands and maybe some chairback seating other than what is currently available.......
and then we will have a new motel a very short distance from the Tank,,,,,in fact it will be within walking distance for out of towners visiting Ironton..........along with a new Frisch's Big Boy..........it has taken a long time but things are falling in place for ITown..........

Do you think it will help get a play off game?

The field is going to be top notch. By the looks of the drawings it is very professional. I look for something like the Ironton Classic to be held there only of the football variety.

RRR, I was at the Tank last nite observing things that could be done to spruce her up and I think we need to contact the paint crew.......Spanky--Kentucky-- and the other fella who helped last time, oh that was you, and contact Mr Lawless to get the man-lift and some brushes and rollers and paint the goal posts before the turf project starts..............

Not sure if those post have to come out of the ground or not. I'll let you in on a little secret on those posts but not on here. Just me, you and the ghosts of the Tank will know. LOL
TTT when they get done with The Tank, I'm confident she will be the showcase of Southern Ohio. Noreply said something about playoff games. I think they will put them in The Tank if the teams are in the Southern part of the State. They could put them in Portsmouth as they have an excellent facility also. Parking always seems to be the hangup. All the schools in Lawrence County will have turf except Symmes Valley and Fairland and I look for Fairland to follow soon. The new Chesapeake field really looks nice.

parking I think at tanks memorial stadium is awesome with the various lots being available. I've parked in the central Christian church lot for 30 years, it's a couple dollar donation to the church and the vehicles are watched over.

I have a brochure / contribution form for the turf - conley center - sports endowment funds. The tiger head depicted on that is, in my opinion, a poor choice. But I guess it's an official image since it also appears on the home page of Tigertown.com (near the top).

well i hope everyone is hitting the weight room, we have plenty coming back and with a whole year of experience under our belt i am counting on a good season, schedule is tough but the talent should be there. last year was rough but it is time to move on.skill positions should be strong and a big receiver to throw to, cox, paladeano, young, and lucas should be strong and i am sure i missed some guys, won't be long so lets get ready. good luck tigers!

GFT you are right about it being the same Tiger head but the one used on the field has been changed somewhat. The artist has used more orange and black in this one than is on the front page of Tigertown. I'm sure there will be differences of opinion but that is what makes us Tiger fans. I for one was hoping that the design would strike a happy medium between the young and old and I thought they did that with this design. I am very excited to see the finished product.Gray Fighting Tiger wrote:I have a brochure / contribution form for the turf - conley center - sports endowment funds. Gray Fighting Tiger you are still the best story about Ironton playoffs ever. The Fairfield County Fair story can't be topped. I still sit and laugh every time I think of all those Ironton people following you into that fairgrounds parking lot. It even tops the Proctorville story.
