I like them picks Main Man. Have some scarey games also with Southeastern and if Piketon gets healthy. About time they went back to the old days. I get tired of coaches wanting to tell everybody how many sectional titles they have won. These sectionals have been weak get a high seed and play a 9 seed and say how great you are.. LOL get out of this Waverly sectional and these coaches can finally say they won a real Sectional Title....

Updated Standings:

Valley (5-0)
Zane Trace (5-0)
Southeastern (4-0)
Eastern Brown (5-1)
Lynchburg-Clay (5-2)
West (4-2)
West Union (4-3)
Huntington (3-3)
Portsmouth (2-2)
Adena (2-4)
Piketon (2-4)
Wheelersburg (1-2)
Northwest (1-4)
Westfall (0-5)

A couple of the top teams took losses last night with Eastern losing to Peebles and Portsmouth getting pounded by South Point. That Portsmouth one was a surprise to me.

We will need dani or another SVC poster to project how that league will play out but ZT and Southeastern are off to pretty good starts. I feel like Valley, Eastern, and the SVC Champions will be, in some order, the top 3 seeds come February. Lynchburg looks like a team that will finish with a pretty good record and I don't think anyone will want to play West come tourney time. I still think Portsmouth is one of the top 4-5 teams in the draw, but losses to South Point will hurt.

My way too early stab in the dark guess:

1. Valley
2. Zane Trace
3. Eastern Brown
4. Lynchburg
5. Portsmouth
6. West
7. Wheelersburg
8. Southeastern
9. West Union
10. Piketon
11. Huntington
12. Adena
13. Westfall
14. Northwest

Once the draw rolls around Valley, West, and Burg will need to get Portsmouth, Eastern, and LC on their side or the SVC could control the draw. I'm sure the SVC would like to see Valley at 1, West at 8, Burg at 9, Eastern at 2 and Portsmouth at 7.That would give ZT and probably SE the best chance to get to Athens. It is just really fun to watch it all play out.

Crab,
The SVC is going to be crazy in the second half I believe. I dont see any team getting out with 1 loss- as usual. ZT had an off night shooting and an ill Connor Smith (only played about 6 minutes in 2nd half) and almost lost to winless Westfall. SE and ZT will probably split league games. Unioto may take 1 from either of them. Piketon, Adena, Huntington will be the teams to take down a top team.

If ZT or SE can survive like ZT did last night on their "off-nights" they deserve a high seed.

ZT also plays Logan Elm in late Jan or Feb...a win there would show they are "for real"

Southeastern will be higher than #8. They may win the SVC.

And if they win the SVC, they will be higher than 8. I put them down there for now because their wins haven't really shown much yet. The teams they have beaten are 5-19 (may be off a game or two there). Their out of conference schedule looks fairly tough, so if they lose 3-4 league games and lose to MT, VC, and Circleville, they are going to be down towards #6-8. I have said several times, I don't know too much about the SVC. I was told in the preseason that Unioto should be the favorite or at least in the top 2. I watched Unioto come to Valley and play an Indian team that had gone through about 5 practices and seen them leave with a 29 point loss. I have also seen West and Wheelersburg and felt both were at least on par, if not better, than Unioto. We are 3-6 games into the season, so that is all I had to base it on.

nobody knows what seed they will have regardless of records....its all politics these days. Only advantage the SVC teams have is they have 6 of the 14 teams

I know what you are saying crab. There could be some early upsets in this sectional. Like the old days.

I am going to wait until early January before I make my prediction on this sectional. I am not sure it is as tough as many people want to believe. Yes .... there are a few very good teams at the top but after that I'm not sold on a few teams. Time will tell how the teams develop. Regardless, it should be fun.

Oh, it's way too early but it's still fun to guess.

As far as the strength of the draw goes, I think it is strong relative to all SE D3. I don't think it is near as strong as the Jackson sectional has been over the past 3-4 years. But, when you look at the other draw, Waverly appears a lot better. Oak Hill gets their first test Friday, South Point has a nice win over Portsmouth, Coal Grove has a good win over West, but other than that, I don't know who is the team in Jackson.

Jackson records: (per maxpreps and TVC website)

Alexander 2-2
River Valley 2-2
Rock Hill 1-4
Wellston 2-2
Belpre 3-3
Nelsonville 2-2
Chesapeake 4-2
Crooksville 1-3
Coal Grove 3-1
Fariland 3-1
South Point 2-3
Fed Hock 1-3
Ironton 0-4
Oak Hill 6-0
Waverly 0-6

If the Pointers can play they way they did vs. Portsmouth, they can advance out of the Jackson sectional. Don't know what happened in SP's losses, but they have a couple of nice bigs, a good trio of guards, including Brandon Barnes, who is capable of 30 on a given night.

I don't care if Valley lost to Warren. They are a scary team that is deep. West has a nice game. Hayden Dunn is strong as a ox.Rolfe is quick.
