Post by Orange and Brown »

A new year, a new skipper and the Redlegs are already making moves........

What do you all think?
Can the Reds win the Central? If not, will it be the Pirates or the Cards?
Lets talk BASEBALL!!!!!

GO REDS!

I don't think we really got any return for Haningan so i don't see the point in trading him.

I knew in August that they weren't gonna pony up any cash for Choo.....
Finally we had a real leadoff hitter and we let him go.

Everyone wanted Billy Hamilton and now they got him. He is the leadoff hitter (I use the term "hitter" loosely).

Choo got $130 million that is nuts. Scott Boras must be best agent in baseball. I like Hamilton at top of the lineup brings speed we didn't have on the bases. If hits .260 ill take it he will get his walks and it is a upgrade defensively. I loved Hanigan behind the plate but Reds got a good YOUNG left handed arm out of the deal. Signing Shumacher helps the bench. Looks like Philips is staying as of niw so thats good imo. Lots of fans frustrated with Votto but the guys pn base almost half the time he will be fine..would like to get 30 hr and 100 rbi from him in 2014.Jay Bruce is a beast great defensive player a little streaky but i think an underrated player i believe he is one of best of in game with a cannon of an arm. I like the Price hiring he knows the organization and all players . Hopefully Ludwick stays healthy and Frazier can give us another solid season . .as for most important thing..PITCHING looks like Arroyo is gone but i like Cingrani a lot..staff looks like Latos,Bailey,Cueto,Leake and Cingrani i like our bullpen as welk as long as there healthy Broxton, Lecure and Chapman with the others all will have to pitch well. I'm excited for 2014. NL CENTRAL will be very strong with Pittsburgh and St.Louis and Reds battling it out. Brewers could be good too. Lets go Reds!!!

I really hope Hamilton can hit some. I would love to see him hit around. 270, I think the team can win if he does that. I really believe he will be hitting. 220 with a lot of strikeouts after the first month of the season. I want the kid to be successful but if you can't get on base you can't steal.

I think our pitching should be solid. We have 5 solid starters and a couple other guys who can fill in when needed.
Meseraco should have a good year behind the plate. Haningan knew how to call a game and handle the pitching staff, I think Corky Miller will spend a lot of time with him during spring training and I hope he learns from him because it will help make him an outstanding catcher.

Bruce is overrated in my book at this time lead the NL in strike outs , got to get better if you want to be a 4 hitter???and that is where he is needed.

The idea is that if they trade Homer they could resign Bronson and another pitcher and get more short term bang for there buck. They owe Homer a lot of money this year.
Time will tell.

Agree with you that the strikeouts have to go down but I don't understand how u think Bruce is overrated..the guy gets very little national attention and is overshadowed by Votto. Put his numbers up against other outfielders in MLB plus his top notch defense and I believe he is very UNDERRATED not overrated. Just my opinion
