Actually there are plenty of restrictions and many private schools around Columbus. St. Charles is 3 miles down the road, Bishop Ready, Watterson, Desales, and Columbus Academy are all less than 20 min from Hartley. To get into Hartley you have to be qualified and must be able to make the tuition payments, which are no joke. The players are also held to a higher GPA than OHSAA requires. And for the record, most of Hartley's starters come from their feeder schools.

Obviously you don't know much about Hartley, but I wouldn't expect you to. If you have been around the program it is easy to see that football is not king at Hartley like some people seem to think.

You have a safe trip as well, bud.

run n shoot 08 wrote:That's funny you say that because I was watching the Navy game last night and happened to see a former teammate of mine from Hartley who is a starter for Navy. Also keep in mind that Matuska from Hartley is a redshirt freshman at Notre Dame, and Woodley from last year is a redshirt freshman at Toledo. On this team this year Saxton is going to Duke and Morris is going to Kent State, both on scholarships.

No one is saying all of Hartleys players are great athletes. Most of the team is undersized and won't play college ball anywhere. But you do see almost everyone that graduates from Hartley getting a nice academic scholarship. That's more impressive to me than having a few kids playing on Saturdays. It's interesting that you are calling Hartley the small school bullies. Six years ago they were far from being a state power. The coaching staff at Hartley has done an excellent job putting them on the map. Keep in mind, in coach Burchfields third year at Hartley he already won a state championship.

It looks like your the one complaining and making excuses or else you wouldn't have brought anything up. I'm here to support my team, just as you are here to support your team.
the burg is the best team in southern ohio this year (forget the valley game) so regardless to outcome of this game Hartley you are getting the best from southern ohio tonight

good luck to both

A lot of this talk and predictions sounds familiar. In the 2002 state semis nobody give West a chance against Ursuline. They where led by Daryl Clark who was a starting qb at penn st. Louis Irizarry the #1 te in the nation and ohio st recruit, Brandon Braxton went to oklahoma. Delbert Ferguson went to toledo I believe and set records for points , tds and rushing yards in the 2000 state championship against coldwater as a freshman. They also had a couple more d1 players on that team can't renember their names.Ursuline was favored by 35 or 40 points and West beat them 13-7. West should have never beat Ursuline but we did, so the impossible can happen. Good luck to the Pirates players, coaches and fans and especially to 4 yr West starting qb and huge part of the 02 state runner up team , Burg assistant coach Bryson Williams.

Hartley is just simply too much for the SOC 2 second place pirates. Vinnie Vegas says Hartley -30. Stone cold lock.

According to accuweather.com, with the wind it's going to feel likes it's 9 degrees at game time with snow flurries. Anything can happen in weather like this.

Good luck Pirates!!

Hope I am wrong but the 1 thing that will hurt Burg more than Hartley is the weather. It is going to be downright nasty tonight and those conditions could mean disaster for Burg and their passing game. I said a few weeks ago that neither Burg or Valley wants anything to do with Ready or Hartley and I was correct on Ready so I have to stay with it. Prove me wrong Burg I would love to see it!!!

I know it was a scrimmage and don't mean sh**.... But burg beat ready up and down the field! I'm not saying that burg is for sure going to handle Hartley with no problem.. However burg is more than cape able of playing with them. I know Hartley is an outstanding team. They have a lot of awesome athletes! Burg also has athletes. Hartley is the favorite in this game and may very well win, either way I can guarantee that by the end of the game they will know they were in a 4qtr. Fight! Good luck burg! Hope both teams play a good injury free game!!

I aree totally Burg grad and I know it sounds like I am rooting against the Burg but that could not be further from the truth, just so we r on the same page about that. And not that this matters by any means but I actually think this point spread for this game #1 Bishop Hartley (Columbus) (11-1) by 15 (83%) vs #3 Wheelersburg (11-1) is probably going to be pretty close when all is said and done.
Now go kick some private Catholic butt and make us all proud of Southen Ohio where our parents have no teeth and our cousins are married to another cousin and we all sleep with our dogs haha, as a poster from up that way made his feelings known about us.

Cold and brrrrrrrrrrrr is manageable I agree, but wind is a whole different animal and Hartleys O isn't going to have their game plan interfered with by weather due to their filthy wing tight offense, unlike Burg who are very good at all the little things and very very disciplined, but Hartley can handle the dink and dunk that will now be an absolute must for Burg because the deep passes will not be their at least I don't think. ED3 and company are going to see something they have not seen this year style wise, and Hartley like Burg are very sound and capable to match up across the board at every position except maybe at q/b where ED3 has an edge. His feet, not his arm in my opinion will be the deciding factor in this game. The Mcallister Kid can be the x-factor for Burg if given at least 10 touches but I personally would like to see him have 15-20 touches if possible. Again go Burg and get it done and I wish u all safe travel and this goes without saying but deer are everywhere so just be safe and be careful in your travel tonight. :122245 :-D
