well here we are at the half way point of the regular season, ironton is 1-3 and got hammered by Ashland last night, and 2-2 south point just coming off the same treatment the tigers got to the hands of the coal grove hornets Friday night. what are your thoughts on this ovc matchup.

I think Ironton gets their 2nd win of the season beating South Point by 2-3 scores.

Re: WEEK 5(1-3)IRONTON@(2-2)SOUTH POINT. WHAT SAY YALL
Yeah I seen that but South Points 2 wins are against a combined 0-8 teams. Think Ironton can pound this one out, I'll be honest though looking at that schedule and I'm sure everyone in Ironton sees it. Could be looking at a 2-8,3-7 season for the Tigers very easily at best.
Re: WEEK 5(1-3)IRONTON@(2-2)SOUTH POINT. WHAT SAY YALL
Ironton gets a easy win here, and back to the chest thumping.
Re: WEEK 5(1-3)IRONTON@(2-2)SOUTH POINT. WHAT SAY YALL
South point with a lot of injuries. Going to be hard to compete with tigers.

Anyone from Ironton could coach this game and win it. Good time to move on from the Vass era.

Re: WEEK 5(1-3)IRONTON@(2-2)SOUTH POINT. WHAT SAY YALL
As for the game. I think Ironton finally get win #2 on the year.
Re: WEEK 5(1-3)IRONTON@(2-2)SOUTH POINT. WHAT SAY YALL
Ironton rolls. But it's gets much tougher for these tigers on out.
Re: WEEK 5(1-3)IRONTON@(2-2)SOUTH POINT. WHAT SAY YALL
Ironton will win this one, but not big like some people think. South Point is still rebuilding and key talent guys are injured.
Re: WEEK 5(1-3)IRONTON@(2-2)SOUTH POINT. WHAT SAY YA'LL
Ironton takes this one big , south point has to many injured and was getting better just not there yet
You can't handle the truth
Re: WEEK 5(1-3)IRONTON@(2-2)SOUTH POINT. WHAT SAY YA'LL
South Point started last weeks game with 7 subs, 7! We had a bunch of injuries, two kids were suspended for at least the first half due to disciplinary reasons and one kid was suspended from school. First string QB went down so that left the 3rd string kid who is a freshman who hasn't played since Biddy League. Second string QB was on the bench due to a concussion from the previous week. We were starting our 3rd and 4th team running backs. I knew when the teams came out and seen the boys in street clothes that it was going to be bad. We had 4 freshman playing both ways! 1str and 2nd team wide receivers were in street clothes. Luckily two of the disciplined kids were back after the half but by that time it really didn't matter. Some are going to be back some are not for this week.
No doubt Ironton will win this game but I admired the kids who are out there giving them their all. This years senior class has not had a winning season. Put in the debaucle of firing the coach mid season last year didn't help matters. Kratz comes in and every body including him and the board think he is the savior. But to fire him mid season with no grounds other that losing was wrong. Kratz comes in wins two and every body thinks wow good decision! I don't look for us to win another game. but you never know, the flu or injuries or bad behavior might hit another school as well.
But I'll close with this our principals do not put up with crap. Player or not and you are disciplined. Your name means nothing here. The team we played last week were targeting our boys.Last weeks team has no discipline and that is coming form people from the Grove. It's been that way for years. Saw a kid shove his coach throw his helmet with pieces flying off in front of the home stands and get to play the next week because he was one of the better lineman. Our team doctor on the side line heard a kid say "my whole goal tonight is to take you out of this game" That was after a helmet to helmet tackle. CG had 105 yards on 8 penalties that equals out to 13.12 yards per penalty. Do the math there had to be too many personal fouls. Everyone is treated equally in the middle and high school. Both principals have suspended star athletes on game days. We also drug test EVERY kid in the band, cheerleaders and every sport. That takes balls but at SP we try to help the kids and not turn our backs. Everyone of you on here knows there are probably 4-5 kids either doing some drugs or smoking pot weekly on any given team not to mention the drinking. If that wasn't true then our county wouldn't be in the dire straits with people OD' ing weekly. We try to catch them early. This is one reason we have low numbers out for football and why other sports can't even field a jv team.
