I was scratching my head on that one as well ! What was funny was one of the Logan announcers said before the play "you watch Gallia will come out throwing the ball" I said to myself no way will they do that, and sure enough they did LOL

With Columbus DeSales sneaking into our playoff picture - and projected to be the No. 8 seed by the 'numbers crunchers' - nobody really wants the No. 1 seed in Division III, Region 9.

The difference between No. 1 Marion Franklin and No. 2 Athens right now is miniscule - one little outcome anytime during the season could have swung it (or swing it) either way ... and since the 'Dogs opponents, Nelsonville-York, Jackson, Gallia or Warren never defeated the Chieftains, Athens never got their 2nd level points.

If we stay at the No. 2 - I'll be sure to send your coach a thank you gift ...

Everyone thinks DeSales is invincible yes i know they are a good team but all of the reagon is good #1 or #2 pick your poison But all can be beat

I'm looking for a Logan win, 28-14 because of the bad weather & field. But it might be worse.

Erase all doubt after three league games. Logan is four points from being the highest scoring team (Portsmouth with 4 more points and an extra game) and have allowed the fewest total points.

Points Scored:

Portsmouth, 4 games, 121 points
Logan, 3 games, 117 points
Gallipolis, 3 games, 97 points
Jackson, 3 games, 82 points
Warren, 3 games, 63 points

Points Allowed:
Logan, 3 games, 69 points
Jackson, 3 games, 76 points
Warren, 3 games, 82 points
Gallipolis, 3 games, 101 points
Portsmouth, 4 games, 147 points

Locos those numbers indicate what it takes to win. Score the most points and have the best defense. This year Logan seems to have that covered. Congrats to Chiefs and their staff.

Correct , Locos. In fact, the point I've tried to make is Logan won the SEOAL title with its D. After the Warren game the stats should show that Logan will have the highest scoring O in the league and the best D against scoring. That will occur without having a true QB in the O and making patchwork fixes because of injuries on the D. The coaching staff made a statement in the league. When real talent returns to Logan and they have fewer injuries, look out. Future looks promising.

Logan will need some of the walking hall talent to come out next year. Next years Sr classes had a poor Jr high and freshman record. We might have only 10 of those boys that have stayed with the program after going through those years. You would have to say these boys love the game and Chieftain fans are proud of you guys for sticking with it.

Actually the Junior class is coming together. Logan's often had poor JR High records that turned in to good Varsity. The problem is a group like last year's seniors where you only have 6 come out, 5 finish the season, and only 2-3 of them really be good enough to be solid contributors.

Already you have Nathan Cocks, Casey Phillips, Caleb Lewellen, Dean Jordan, Brandon Arnett, Kevin Fisher, Adam Baker, and Keith Martin who have started multiple games as underclassmen. Add in Joe Foltz and Chance Cox who were academically ineligible this season and you have a nice nucleus of contributors with an outstanding sophomore class.

My senior year, the Varsity went 10-1 and hosted the school's first ever playoff game. I think we won 2-3 games total over our 2 junior high years and then were like 4-3 as freshmen and lost to Jackson.

We need to remember that was under the former coach reign! As I recall the total program was in disarray! As my buddy moonshine said, " there is talent in them there hallways"

One of the great things about playing and coaching at Logan is the talent you find in all 3 Varsity classes IF you get them to all come out. Logan is usually as good or better than all the SEOAL because of getting talent out to play. But fail to do that and you become average very quickly. Heres hoping Coach Burke some "success" recruiting the hallways. And add a soccer player now & then for kicking, lol

Coach Burke found out real quick that Logan didn't have the boys to make a wide open offense and wasn't going to score fast and often.

Once our boys realized this and knew we were going to work harder on offense and the defense was going to have to tackle better ..things started to fall in place.

Build a respected program and the boys will come out.

I agree. A title in the coach's first year is just the ticket to recruit the hallways and get better players out for the team.

Go Chiefs !
