This whole thing sound very familiar. Sounds identical to last years game. Burg (the unstoppable force) meets Valley (the immovable object). Only this year. Burgs defense is better and Valleys Offense is better. Should be one of the best games in the state at any level.

Comparing schedules at this point means nothing Burg the last 2 years has had a tougher schedule than Valley and How did that work out.....?

Hahahaha "Battle tested Burg"?? Which "monster" on the Pirates schedule made them "battle tested"? Neither of these teams has played any team yet this year like they'll face when they play each other next Friday night.

The Burgs defense has gotten better every game and completely shut down Minford tonight. The Falcons, even with that massive offensive line, could only muster 67 yards rushing on I believe 35+ attempts and only 24 passing yards for 91 total. The Burg may be able to get a few stops against the Indians and keep them from scoring. The big question is, can the Indians stop or even slow down a very potent Burg offense? No one this season has stopped them yet. They can pretty much score at will when they want to and do it very quickly. This game will come down to whether or not Valley can stop the Burgs offense. They will have to match the Pirates score for score to beat them.
Valley's offense has been more than a little bit impressive in their own right. The first team defense still hasn't given up a point since allowing a single touchdown a month ago. I don't look for either team to shut the other out. I'm just glad this week is finally here!! These two teams are both sure to test the resolve of the other.

Have to agree with Jesco. I think both teams are still undefeated going into this game if they flip-flop schedules.

If Burg goes away from the passing game, like they did last year in this game, then they will be in for a long night. Burg's passing game is something most teams around here don't see on a weekly basis.

This will be THE GAME of the year in Southern Ohio. Both should represent Southern Ohio well in the playoffs. Winner is a lock for a first round home game.

Good luck Pirates. Time to put up or shutup

It will be a great game, but Valley is a whole different animal than Minford or anyone Burg has played. Like someone said, flip schedules and they are both still 8-0.

Valley has beaten one team this season with a winning record....South Point. Wheelersburg has won two games against teams with winning records....Minford and Fairland. Interesting if nothing else.

I'm interested in seeing how Valley defends the passing game of Burg. Minford played soft and Miller connected time and time again on the five to ten yard routes. The short passing game was nearly flawless. I only remember Miller going over the top one time.

My only comment for this post is: Would love to see this game moved to Saturday Night, that is all lol.

Good luck to both programs, have relatives on one side and friends coaching on the other side...play like 2 excellent programs should play, hard and till the end.

Have seen both this year. Valley's defense is really good. But can they defend the pass as well as they do the run? Both teams are experienced. Since this game is at Burg, I think Burg wins, ending Valley's 2 year reign.

Oaf,

Absolutely, but you know me....purple colored glasses!!

This is what H.S. Football is all about! #1 in D5 vs #7 in D6, 2 great communities, 2 great coaching staffs, 2 great sets of kids. Both are locked in the playoffs, epic game.

Saturday game would be unreal, the hill would be over capacity!! Lol!

It seems Burg is the "favorite", so I like Valley to shock southern ohio once again and bring home a 3 peat!

Valley 27
Burg 24

Indians on a late FG to win.

minford didn't pressure miller all night long and he threw at will , burg didn't run on minford that well, I think valley will do both against burg . Take miller out of the picture and I don't see burg doing anything too stop valley, and I think valleys defense can contain miller. jmo. don't have a dog in this fight, good luck too both teams gonna be the game of the year.

i think burg may have played one of the best o-lines in the area last night, with that being said they were also suppose to have the ball crammed down their throat last night we seen how well that worked. Valley is gonna have to mix it up and keep the burg d on its toes. As far as schedules go i guess the ole cliche goes you can throw them out the window for this game, but my opinion a jackson and fairland will test you a little more than the south points and chesapeakes

While I agree with much of what you said, I remember similar things being said last year. Burg's offense was going to be too much and Valley held the to 7 points. Valley is the one team that has the athletes to run with Burg, and they have athletic size up front to give Burg problems. Also Valley's offense is much better than last year! Valley must run the ball and limit Burg's explosive plays. Burg must stop a physical offense and hit big plays because driving the ball on Valley will be tough. Turnovers and special teams will decide this one, IMO.

Last comment, the schedule talk is a moot point. Very similar schedule and it hasn't been a factor in the past. Friday can't get here soon enough!

Just because you stopped minford from running the ball don't mean you can stop valley. West also thought since they stopped minford they could handle valley. All we hear about is burgs offense vs valleys defense. Valleys offense I think is just as explosive as burgs. Numbers might be different since the starters have not played much of the second half lately.
I look for a big game from shope this week. He played great last year against burg.
