Burg will need to run the ball a little to keep defense honest. Pounding offense could be problems for burg. Backs need 100 yards on ground. Pressure on miller will be constant. Great contest.

I have to disagree with anyone who thinks Minford's offensive line is better than Valley's. I think Minford has the best individual lineman in the area in McCray (love watching that kid play), and another of the probably top 5 linemen in the area in Madden (It's gonna be fun watching that kid for 2 more years); but Valley's offensive line will be the best unit Burg fans will see, save for the playoffs. If you have any doubts, watch the replay of the Burg-Minford game and look at two things that happened all night on the line of scrimmage: 1) watch how many times Minford's o-line was firing off the ball 2-3 yards up field, but WITHOUT driving a defender anywhere because Burg's quicker shifty defenders had blown right past them! 2) Watch how #53 (Warner I believe) for Burg goes unaccounted for time after time, as he stands up off the line then lines up over the ball at the nose, it didn't matter the Falcons had little success accounting for him.

Burg's defense is definitely better than last year, but so is Valley's offensive line. I think it's going to be a lot of fun to see how the Indians line handles what the Burg Defense throws at them.

I'll say burg jumps out on top early and holds valley off! Burg wins this one 35-21

Can't wait for this one. I'm going to take the Indians 17-14 in OT.

Watching the Burg/Minford game on time warner and I am not impressed by either team. Burg doing what they have to do and Minford just looks very slow. Can't wait till Friday. I like Valleys chances. Hope the referees are invisible and a non factor. May the best team win.

The Burgs defense has gotten better every game and completely shut down Minford tonight. The Falcons, even with that massive offensive line, could only muster 67 yards rushing on I believe 35+ attempts and only 24 passing yards for 91 total. The Burg may be able to get a few stops against the Indians and keep them from scoring. The big question is, can the Indians stop or even slow down a very potent Burg offense? No one this season has stopped them yet. They can pretty much score at will when they want to and do it very quickly. This game will come down to whether or not Valley can stop the Burgs offense. They will have to match the Pirates score for score to beat them.
While I agree with much of what you said, I remember similar things being said last year. Burg's offense was going to be too much and Valley held the to 7 points. Valley is the one team that has the athletes to run with Burg, and they have athletic size up front to give Burg problems. Also Valley's offense is much better than last year! Valley must run the ball and limit Burg's explosive plays. Burg must stop a physical offense and hit big plays because driving the ball on Valley will be tough. Turnovers and special teams will decide this one, IMO.

Last comment, the schedule talk is a moot point. Very similar schedule and it hasn't been a factor in the past. Friday can't get here soon enough!
The Burgs offense was clicking last year and for some reason the coaches tried to change it up the week of the Valley game. Hopefully they don't that again.

While that is certainly possible, I saw Valley man up the Pirates and get more pressure than other teams. The key was Valley's ability to run with the Pirates speedy WR's. That's why I think this game will be similar, Valley has better athletes on both the line and in secondary than any team Burg has seen. It will be one heck of a game because the two teams returned so many players from last years battle.

You're not impressed with the number one team in division 5, that averages over 42 points per game with over 400 yards per game? Man you are hard to impress. lol.

Valley will definitely be more stingy on defense than any other team Burg has faced. Burg has slight advantage with home crowd. Going to be a good one.

Really, miller had 350yds total offense, 4 tds, completed almost 80% of his passes, D held minford to 23yds total offense at the half. I am guessing shank going for what 350 yds rushing and around 6 tds against valley a couple yrs ago really didn't impress you that much either.

Since the trophy case space is already reserved, word is the trophy is actually being personalized for the Pirates right now.

Why stop at the SOC II champs they have room for a state trophy also since they are already 10-0 they should just walk right through play-offs with their tough regular season schedule.....

The state champ trophies go in a different trophy case but it is filling up fast with the back to back baseball state champ trophies.

I predict that by the middle of the 3rd quarter Valley will be asking for a smoke delay due to the firing of the cannon so many times it will be smoking up the field

Better clean the resin out of your crystal ball. Burg may very well win but blow out Valley? Not a chance......

Besides I've never met an Indian that minded a little smoke!

Already a lot of crap being talked by people who won't even be on the field Friday night.

Burg not impressive! Valley can't hang with Burg!

Come on people!!!! We are all grown azz adults here. Lets act like it and let the kids settle the game on the field.

This game is about as evenly matched as it can get. This has the makings of another low scoring affair like last year. Turnovers will be the key.

Great post yabbba. ur exactly right--------- going to be a great game. valley is the team to beat and deserves all the respect over the last 2 yrs. --according to a couple of seniors i talked to today at the youth fball games they are very excited to be playing in another great, fun, pressure packed game.
i see and feel a different attitude this yr then i have seen in probably 3 yrs. they all seamed confident but very humble about there season so far, during our conversation. impressed with the maturity.
