I agree with you quite a bit. I apologize about the ND comment, I just realized I read elsewhere someone said they would start anywhere else. One quick question though, have you had a chance to watch Oak Hill play yet? I really like some of the things they do and they are most definitely on the right track.

Ironton may win this one. With the exception of Minford OH has played much less competition than Ironton.
Ironton may be 7 -1 or 8 - 0 if they had OH's schedule.

If the Oaks win it'll have to be because they played flawless. If they can put together long drives (12-13 plays)and manage the clock it'll be a more interesting game than some think. Go Oaks! It'd be good to see another SOC team knock off the mighty tigers.

Oak Hill is a good Soc 1 squad. But, Ironton is still just a step ahead. Like Jesco stated, unless Ironton is completely decimated, they will probably come out on top. This has nothing to do with Ironton's tradition. Ironton is better prepared for this match-up, and has a little more talent. I did not see the games Ironton won, but I do not think Oak Hill would have beaten Russell or Amanda-Clearcreek (again I could be wrong)

My prediction. Close game throughout (14-7 at half), but Ironton pulls ahead in the end 27-14.

I'm not a tiger hater, personally I could careless about them. I am a supporter of SOC schools, both divisions unless they are playing West. To answer your question West could play with any team Ironton has played this year and would be 3-7 if not 4-6 with that schedule. The tigers didn't play the same Portsmouth team that West did or that score would have been worse. Portsmouth was with out their starting QB and their best athlete in Robinson. So before you ask your next silly question Yes I do think West is a better team then ironton this year.
Yes we did not beat Portsmouth. But look at all the injuries we had. Seen West play did not impress me at all. Have to disagree with you in regards to West being able to play TIGERS schedule. Would love to see West play this schedule. No chance West is better.

ps for the record oak hill would lose against both Portsmouth and Ashland!
PS. Oak Hill would beat them both. Portsmouth was with out their best player when they played Ironton and still got the win. And its just Ashland remember ain't that the motto Ironton fans were saying all week before that game.
The Ashand game Ironton had a chance to win but didn't the game was a complete disaster for Ironton on several levels.
The Portsmouth game is a horse of a different color it is a true rivalry game one of the oldest in the state of Ohio and they get pumped up maybe more so than any team on Irontons schedule does.
Those are two games I do not believe the Oaks could win Ashland jelled at the right time on Ironton sadly and Portsmouth may have been a close game for a while but I believe their speed would have wore Oak Hill down.
Oak Hill is a fine team and I hope they play well just not to good to win but hope both teams come out injury free.

While I am flattered that you would go to all the trouble to find out who I am, I really could care less about your opinion of me. I will not lose one minutes sleep because you do not like something I have written. I surprised that you would think we have Xbox's here on the West Side. Everyone thinks we are just a bunch of dumb rednecks still drawling plays in the dirt with a stick.     I would put my football knowledge up against yours any day sir.
BTW, I never said Oliver wasn't a good QB, I said it was his first start at QB. Oliver is an outstanding athlete hands down with out a question and has done a fine job at QB. I will defer to coach Sparks decision on who is the best QB for his team. There must've been some reason he had Wedebrook starting the first 4 games and played Oliver as a receiver.[/quote]

It was no trouble at all, you posted the links to you own articles right on this site genius!
Don't be flattered, be embarrassed.......
Dumb redneck necks huh? Well, the proof is ample!
No you didn't say that about Oliver, in fact you never mentioned him until I did. Who accused you of saying "I never said Oliver wasn't a good QB." You stated PHS was without their original starting QB against Ironton. They don't beat the Tigers without Oliver at QB in that game. Maybe Oliver didn't grasp the new offense as quickly during summer camp and that is why Sparks didn't start him. I don't know, I don't know the man and I'm not going to make a fruitless speculation. Lastly, you say you'd put your football knowledge up against mine any day? This coming from a man who thinks the Oak Hill Oaks would beat the Ashland Tomcats in football this year. What more need I say people?

I don't have a dog in this fight but think it will be a close one either way.

i'll just wait till Friday night and comment, but I think the fighting tigers schedule strength rears it head.
I am not sure how many injured we have back. but the fighting tigers won't overlook anybody, and you can bet they are hungry for a W.

I wonder how much enrollment difference there is with ironton/oak hill I know ironton has 162, and only missed d6 by 6 kids, I ain't trying to beat a dead horse, just curious. they are very nearly the same size I believe. back in the 70's when I played , till I blew my knee up there was AAA,AA,A---------IRONTON WAS-AA.

I think ironton has 19 frosh on the roster this year. back then frosh were not allowed on the roster , they had their own team.there were a couple rare exceptions I remember gabe lewis playing as a frosh.

I remember those day's YTB, there was triple A, double A, and single A. There was some good football back in the 70's. I miss those days.

Anyone who knows football knows what level each of these teams are on. Oak Hill is having a fine season and I applaud them for that. However, we all know about the level of competition they have played. That's not a knock on the Oaks, it's just the facts. Ironton football is still ahead of Oak Hill football and I believe the result of this game will indicate that. I see the Oaks finishing the season with a record of 8-2 having lost to the two decent teams on their schedule (Minford, Ironton).

And for the record, I don't think Ironton blows out Oak Hill but will control the game and win comfortably resembling last year's contest. I'll go with Ironton 26-7 at home.

This is not your father's Ironton Fighting Tigers team of the 80's-90's etc, and likewise it is not your father's Oak Hill Mighty Oaks team of years ago prior to the run that Phillips and Dugan have had here lately.

This will be a very competitive game, not sure who to pick. I know who I would like to win as a fan, but gonna be a good game I am convinced. I may get surprised but just think this one has all the trappings of a barnburner.
