I guess we have all said about all that can be said about this one. Minford needs to control the ball and keep Burg's offense off the field. Burg needs to score early and make Minford get out of their running game and throw the ball more than they want to. Whoever establishes tempo early will determine how the rest of the game is played. Good luck to both teams and hope for an injury free game!

I agree with Vlad on the conditions...The receivers know their routes and where they are going - they can adjust..
It will be harder for Minford to make their cuts while reacting
If slick, I look for pretty big cushions from Minford Db's to not get burnt/risk falling, and Burg will hammer the short passes and run game
If dry, Burg still wins
Minford wins if they hammer down the middle and Burg refuses to adjust

I would just like to point out that this years pirate team is not like the teams in recent history. We went through a 3 year period where the sport of choice was baseball. The current varsity team and JV team are loaded with talent and seem to be football classes. There is no doubt in my mind that a majority of the back ups would be starting at any other school in the county. With that being said The talent level is too much for the falcons. Wheelersburg in a close one 24-14! The Clark kid couldn't even get on the field when he was at the burg now he is the falcons better receiver and secondary player. Get used to domination again from the pirates for many years to come RTD- Return to Dominance fellas thats what you echoed in summer conditioning now is the time to show it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish the Portsmouth vs. Jackson game was Saturday night instead, I wouldn't mind checking out this game. That being said I've seen both teams play & I'm going to go with Burg, but I don't think it's a blow out.

I think Minford can make this a game if they go with the Coal Grove game plan.

The Hornets got down early, but kept pounding the ball and pounding the ball. Minford has the horses to do that, but if they try to go sideline to sideline with Wheelersburg, they will get beat and chances are it will be bad. I seen West expose Minford's lack of speed and Burg will do the same if Minford allows the whole width of the field to be used. If Minford throws the ball 25 times like they did at West, this will be a 3-4 score game and the Falcon playoff hopes will be over.

I think Brent and Company will get back to their roots and try to run at the smaller Pirates. I think they will keep it close, but unless they are able to pick Eddie a few times and get a D/ST score, I think Wheelersburg gets outta Muletown with a 14 point win.

Good luck Pirates!! Good point game for both schools. Hope both squads stay injury free and seniors remember these games. It is why you have devoted your time each fall since 5th grade...for this type of atmosphere and competition. Love southern Ohio football and the communities that support them!!

Can you still call it a rivalry if Minford keeps getting their butts handed to them every year? Ohio State v. Michigan is a rivalry because each year you cannot tell which team will win. Minford keeps thinking they have a chance, then they are brought back to reality when the ball gets kicked. Just curious what the record is between these two teams over the past 20 years?

Burg is leading the series but Minford has an awesome program and I honestly wouldn't count them out of any game! Minford has the talent to win every game they go into!
