Re: Week 8- Wheelersburg (7-0) vs. Minford (6-1)
Chesapeke dropped Wayne, WV for week 2, but it would probably be easy to get them for week 1. Many 'Peke fans are really upset about this, as this is a team they've played for 20-yrs, and have had success beating. Just the past few years they've been really good. Huge gates for both.
Wayne, WV won the small division is WV state championship last year, and are considered Ohio D-4. They're located near Kenova, WV, so that's within an hour from Minford. I've seen them play on TV, and their talent looks like a good SOCII team. Averaged sized, hard nosed white kids from the WV countryside.
Gallia has Rock Hill week 2, Minford has Rock Hill week 1, shouldn't be to hard to match Gallia and MInford up.

Re: Week 8- Wheelersburg (7-0) vs. Minford (6-1)
Fellas you talk like making a new schedule is as simple as a phone call and it's not, Minford missed D-5 by 6 boys so just a bad break, I watched the game on tv last night as most probably did and The Burg was just a lot better team at every position and most importantly the Q/B position. It's right their for you to see and as you can see Minford has no open dates and Valley should be on the phone calling South Point and Van Buren thanking them for carrying them this far being the only 2 teams with a winning record thus far on their schedule. Valley got the Lucky Dog pass moving to D-6 after the realignment and will be decent a couple more years and the well drys up. They have a week 5 spot open and can't wait to see who they feel it with.
Re: Week 8- Wheelersburg (7-0) vs. Minford (6-1)
I have a hypothetical idea and will probably be told how stupid I am for even thinking it up but West and Valley have week 5 open next year, Is it out of the realm of possibility to play each other twice?? Good gates no travel, 1st game is a non league game and the game as it is right now on the schedule would be the conference game. Just thinking outside the box I guess.

Re: Week 8- Wheelersburg (7-0) vs. Minford (6-1)
Portsmouth and Ironton have done this in the past also.
Re: Week 8- Wheelersburg (7-0) vs. Minford (6-1)
A good schedule is good a strong schedule is great.
But when you schedule up against bigger stronger deeper teams it can come back and bite you.
Ironton found that out this year and found it out in a rough way.
At one point they had 8 starters out for one game and ended up losing a few more.
It's a double edged sword at times and deadly when your depth is soph. and freshmen starting against Sr's.
Age difference does matter at times just have to schedule within your teams capabilities and hope those teams help you in learning to play better and harder and in the points scheme of making playoffs.

Re: Week 8- Wheelersburg (7-0) vs. Minford (6-1)
This is the exact thinking that has put Minford in the position that they are in now. You schedule a strong schedule so that you can improve. If you can't compete with a strong schedule then you do not deserve to be in the playoffs. If you try to schedule within your teams capabilities then you would have to start scheduling for what your jr. high teams capabilities are.maniac66 wrote:A good schedule is good a strong schedule is great.

Re: Week 8- Wheelersburg (7-0) vs. Minford (6-1)
Per OHSAA.org here's Minford's 2014 schedule:
1) South Point
2) Col. Grandview Heights
3) Paint Valley, Divison 7, has been beat by Westfall and Adena in 2013,
4) Northwest WTF ?!?! Jackson just posted they're looking for a week 4 game in 2014. Minford has no business playing NW
5) Oak Hill, moving to week 2 in '15, good fit for Western Brown.
6) West
7) Rock Hill, with PHS and Ironton joining the OVC, this game will hopefully be dropped. With PHS going to the OVC, Gallia will have an open date here.
8 ) W'burg
9) Waverly
10) Valley

Re: Week 8- Wheelersburg (7-0) vs. Minford (6-1)
Minford is D-4 so why would they look to add a D-7 like Paint Valley? Agree totally that they need to lose Hill and Nwest and honestly Heights as well.
Re: Wheelersburg 42 Minford 13
If you look at http://www.OHSAA.org, that's who Minford added for 2014 n '15: Bainbridge Paint Valley. It looks like to me, it's a done deal. I'm with ya on that, why add a D-7 school who cannot win their own division?!?
That is in no way my suggestion. If I had to suggest a team in the week 3 spot It'd be Ironton. I'm sure Ironton would take Minford over Amanda CC b/c of travel time. Also note, that's not the Amanda CC program of old, their coach Ron Hinton is now at Chillicothe.

Re: Wheelersburg 42 Minford 13
Theres honestly some very under-talented D1's you can play in the Dayton Suburbs.

Re: Week 8- Wheelersburg (7-0) vs. Minford (6-1)
What's your point? Minford is community strong and most times has more fans at away games than the home fans. Minford had a tailgate set up at the field and quite honestly Minford fans should not support Biggie overhead doors if they were the ones who opened the lot for Burg fans to tailgate on!B0UNCE wrote:Burg is Burg they are community strong that supports there boys 100%. They had no problem setting up there tailgating party right on the main strip in the middle of Minford letting the town know were here and where our players had to notice as they drove in. They were polite they waived as people drove by. Falcons I have watched you for years and continue to watch an cheer you for many more. I do wish we would spread things out where our line, backs, and QB wouldn't have 10 facing them down but Daniels has Falcon passion and I must and will support our boys regardless win or lose. Falcons for some it is your last two games and you will probably join the preps opinion board voicing your thoughts of what your old team should do. But remember you have to play the next two as your last and leave everything on the field an hope there is one more. Good luck.
