No one needs to give up the history and tradition of the SEOAL. It will continue , with or with out Athens. I care little if they come back or not. They are the TVC's problem now. SEOAL isn't going anywhere, so the TVC should relax as there isn't going to be a "big" school division where you can place Athens.
I think the reason many people are openly calling for other schools to be added to the TVC is the fact that the TVC is already to big for just a split league. The TVC Hocking is now 9 teams with a unbalanced schedule making picking up a non league game late in the season necessary (which can be difficult after week 5) and with the addition of River Valley (we could talk about that more separately) the TVC Ohio will now be 7 teams and the scheduling will again be difficult. None of the TVC Hocking teams want to move up to play in the Ohio and the Hocking is already to over crowded to take River Valley, I think many see that adding 2 more schools (SEOAL or not) and splitting into 3 divisions would be an easy and sensible solution to these problems. I don't think people are rooting for the failure of the SEOAL, I just think that there aren't many schools in the area that aren't in either the SEOAL or the TVC so the conversation of adding or subtracting teams from either league will certainly cause people to speculate about schools from the other league. If you took a map and played connect the dots forming a circle using the outermost schools from both leagues I don't think you will find many inside the circle who don't belong to one league or the other.

Especially now that Portsmouth and Ironton have joined the OVC.

93Bulldog....South Gallia was independent prior to joining the TVC.

The Rebels did play all the SOC I football schools, though.

Athens 62
Gallia 19

Athens 49
Jackson 0

Athens 42
Warren 6

"play the big dogs?"

Let us re-visit the thinking in a couple of years. Cycles, my friends, cycles.

I believe that is why 93 posted that he had to enjoy it while he could. We know the ride will not last forever and loses to those teams and a lot of others will happen again in the future.

No one from the TVC is soliciting those schools, the schools are soliciting the TVC. No "embarrassment" for Athens for not joining a league that teams in the Hocking Division could win this year. I think the SEOAL may have taken on the title of WFCIO. Face it Paladin, the schools in the WFCIO are looking for the first port to jump off in, and a few prefer that port to be the TVC Ohio.

There already is a third large school division for southeastern Ohio schools. It's called the SEOAL. Athens and Marietta should re-join and the two leagues should explore non-football sports affiliations.

Athens right now is having a good run of talent. Not really hometown kids, move ins with the OU coaching staff. In time, once this class of athletes graduate, Athens will suck again.

Jackson and its people are arrogant a - holes, always have been and always will be. Nobody is going to let them in any league.

Warren is a bigger school and is just like Jackson.

Gallia Academy will wait until everything washes out.

Logan can't go anywhere, they are too big for some of the schools in the SE, but they are too small to join the city conference.

Why would Marietta come back, are they not doing well in the conference they join?

If they could have kept Chillicothe, then the SEOAL might survive. It might yet. So this is probably alot of nonsense about nothing. A bunch of fat middle aged guys pretending to know everything and speculating on there ideal of the future and they don't know jack crap.

Pipe dreams boys, pipe dreams. You look silly begging Athens and making feeble attempts to shame them into coming back and saving your league. Face it, Logan is going to have to either go independent, or join the big boys up north. That is unless they can convince the MSL to let them once again be the big fish in another league. Athens isn't going anywhere. They seem happy in the TVC while still getting to kick butt against the best the WFCIO has to offer.

The way some are talking about the down talent in the lower grades at Athens ...they will never come back to the SEOAL.

Doesn't Logan have enough "small fish' to feast upon? Why would it want another D3 team in its league? Athens is darn near D4 moonshine - and very well could be in 2015.

You Logan guys keep 'dogging' Athens for playing in a 'small school league' (which its not, the TVC-Ohio is quite balanced really) - but then a few posts later openly say they should be in the SEOAL?

You're basically talking out of both sides of your mouth here. Logan is a D2 team - and a D1 team in other sports - and you're WANTING Athens to be part of your league? Like its o.k. for Logan to play with Warren D4, Gallia D4, Athens D3, Jackson D3 ... but its not o.k. for Athens to play in the TVC-Ohio? Geeeesh. At least Athens has ONE TEAM in its division in football - and TWO OTHERS in its division in other sports.

Logan has zero, zilch, none. Nobody plays in D2, nobody plays in D1 except the Chieftains ... and yet you're wanting to add another team that won't?

They probably will moonshine.

I mean, Logan has 478 boys in the school ... how can the 'little guy' compete with that?

you'll probably win by 3 TD's.

Logan = 478 boys ...... Athens = 279 boys ................yep, that equals out to about a +21 point spread, but Ill have to call Vegas to be sure though.

I'm not in the business of begging anyone. I just think Athens is a natural fit in the SEOAL. Always did, always will. If Athens is happy in the TVC and and the TVC is happy with them, great! But TIME moves on and all things change. With the bypass complete, the Bulldogs may want to schedule teams further north. The point about shrinking school sizes? Logan is probably more comparable to a D-III School. I've said for many years they would be a better fit in the MSL but apparently neither entity is sold on that. So Logan will be SEOAL for as long as it exists and will have to explore other options as the TIMES change. I never see them in the TVC in any iteration.

I wouldn't be surprised of Logan pushes for Berne Union to be added to the SEOAL ...... so they can replace the other D5 team (Portsmouth).

And of course rumor is the bullpuppies will be moving to the hocking division so they will have a weaker schedule! Oh I almost forgot the tomkittens did beat the bullpuppies in your jamboree game!

I always felt Portsmouth was "over their heads" in the SEOAL,especially on the gridiron. Its a depth game, you have to have decent depth, the teams that have it win with it.Back when Portsmouth was in the playoffs and it was announced they had joined the SEOAL, I was one of the few that hated the move, I told Trojandave we would struggle and we have, we struggle against the SOC, how can we compete with the larger classes?
