What's next for the SEOAL?
Re: What's next for the SEOAL?
Congrats to all of those that made the list!
Surprised Woolum and Potter didn't get a mention.

Re: What's next for the SEOAL?
Austin coming to Jackson was great for Austin and great for the program. We are 7-3 in regular season without him probably, but it was positive experience for him as well, and he has always supported the current staff publicly and to best of my knowledge privately.iman24 wrote:Jackson feels like Wolfords last year something was not quit right nobody knew what but something. Here's what we do know 2011 11-1 Osborne transferred to Jackson 2012 Dugan goes to Oak Hill to coach. Jackson on 21 regular season winning streak then Jackson lose to Granville and then to Athens in close games Jackson could have won. Then some drama after Athens game between staff and a three year starters brother and then we go to Wheelersburg and Jackson lays down and yes a few kids where sick but it was so bad they threatened to take JI,s off helmets at halftime season ends 5-5 with 15 seniors 3-2 school board vote. 2013 D1 prospect choose not to play senior year at Jackson other senior choose not to come out and Soph tailback frustrated with staff at 7on7 quits he's was the breakaway runner we missed all year we go 6-4. The 3-2 vote was talked about all year and will coach stay or go? What ever it is the AD needs to set down with the coach figure it out Jackson football draws kids to it kids to play just to be on team if you lose kids that are the main players then something's wrong. Fix it and league titles and weeks 12 and 13 will be played by the Ironmen in the future.
Dugan took a great offer and has capitalized on it.
Granville and Athens were heartbreakers, as I recall a fumble on the go ahead score was the dagger for Jackson in the Athens game.
Drama happens, in a small town it gets BIG attention, and quickly get spun up and blown out of proportion. It is what it is.
The D1 player went to IMG because they are a recruiting, showcasing machine. Their QB going to Penn St., their tailback to FSU or Alabama, offers from both. The parents could afford the enrollment and thought it increased the prospects of him being recruited. Hopefully it pans out.
Parks shoulder was a clearly an issue last year toward the end of baseball season and it was in his best interest not to play. Smart decision, my understanding is that he will play for Shawnee very likely, and get his education paid for, no brainer, good move.
Be proactive, remove distractions, be positive, let's roll. Plenty of players, can't please every kid, every parent, every time. Win and it will help with most if not all of the chit-chat. Never heard any of this when we were 10-0 even though I bet there were people who didn't agree with some things...winning keeps things much quieter.
Expectations are high, very high. There are no excuses in 2014.
Re: What's next for the SEOAL?
With Warren and Gallipolis......Gallipolis should rebound and Warren should know that football isn't everything {but then it does bring in the money]. We will have some new schools for the 2016 season.javagt wrote:Andy Hall is welcome to coach down here. Seriously, good job by Logan on the hire of Billy Burke. Jackson will be fine. Logan will be fine. Both these programs are in good hands.
My concern is Gallia and Warren and where their programs are headed. What changes are needed for them, if any.
Also, back to the original topic, WHO is going to join the SEOAL, if anyone. I can't see the league with 4 teams for very long. If 1 more school leaves, that would probably be the end.

Marietta would've never left had it not been for the long trips to Portsmouth and Ironton. Good move for the Tigers and the SEOAL. 1 down, 1 to go. Who's next??moonshine wrote:Marietta will rejoin in 2016!

Can you find those quotes?Orange and Brown wrote: When the Tigers announced they were leaving everyone basicly told them it was a mistake and also said don't come running back......Now you SEOAL folks are all giddy about it.......
I remember most people saying it was a mistake, but that we'd see them back in a few years.
Just curious if you can back up your statement, since I have a different recollection.
I've always said we'll be glad to have anyone back (except Ironton.) And we've proven that by allowing Athens (1930), Ironton (1968, 2006), and Portsmouth (2006) all to leave and come back.
Re: What's next for the SEOAL?
The SEOAl traditional schools all travel well so our league is appealing not to mention competition. Will be interesting who Jackson fills the schedule with hear a lot of good programs want to play us anything short of white jackets next year is a let down for this group.

Actually O & B, I'm one of those who predicted Marietta would be back. And I didn't say don't come back. Quite the opposite. Look at a map. Marietta is in the footprint of SEO and is arguably in a competition funk. The ECOL is eating them alive while still facing long drives.
Like Locos, there is only ONE team who has left that most folks I know have no intentions of bringing back................. ever -- the lowly tiggers of Lawrence Co.
Like many here, you can't back up what you say. But it does keep us entertained.

Iman24, you seem to be very knowledgeable about this group of ironmen athletes, maybe you need to contact the head coach and either ask to join the staff or call him to let him know how to "fix" all those issues you have been talking about!
Re: What's next for the SEOAL?
Who are the Jackson school board members? I had a friend running for it and I didn't hear if he won or not.
You think Jackson will be favored over west Jeff and Burg ?
West Jeff loss everybody but SEO teams don't usual get that over Columbus teams and Burg losses a bunch. They have dominated use two years in a row and the Jv team killers ours but that's miss leading with so many SOPH an FR on varsity.

Once we get a favorable vote from school board. Then just listen to the boys they know better than any of us. If that happens coach and his staff could set off on another winning streak like 2010 & 11.
