Week 6: Nelsonville-York (2-3) at Meigs (3-2)

Post by indianabuck »

This will be in my opinion for 2nd place in the TVC Ohio. I feel this is the best chance for someone besides Athens to beat NY. Meigs has a legit shot to beat them, and very well may.

Because Newark Catholic is desperate for 2nd level points I am hoping to see the Bucks win, but I do not think this will be the outcome.

NY is definitely the underdog coming in.
The Bucks will have to do everything right to win.

Meigs, but I think the Buckeyes will keep in close in the first half.

The Meigs Marauders program and the Chillicothe Cavaliers program win most improved in SE Ohio this year, and the Portsmouth Trojans improved as well.

Not taking anything from any team you have mentioned I just think Southern should be mentioned as well

2012 record went 4-6

2013 record right now they sit at 5-0 and more than likely make playoffs first time in school history

Also my pick for the game

Meigs-41

Nelsonville-20

Good luck to both teams and stay healthy

Meigs by plenty is what it looks like on the surface. But I have seen Meigs hand Nelsonville wins in the past. I am not sure Nelsonville has that mystique in the TVC anymore, but who knows?

Good point, plus NY better learn how to kick and not go for 2! Sorry state of affairs with NY special teams! Extra points are a must in High School football today!

Since consolidation of both schools in 1967, this will be the 34th all-time meeting between the Buckeyes and Marauders, with the Buckeyes leading the all-time series 21 wins and 12 losses. However, this series dates back to the beginning of organized high school sports when the former Nelsonville Greyhounds played both the former Pomeroy Purple Panthers and the former Middleport Yellow Jackets for over 40 years. This series has been lopsided both ways, as Meigs won the first 9 games. Nelsonville-York has won 21 of the last 24 games in the series dating back to 1989, including the last 13 straight. The last Marauder win came in 1999.

NY leads all-time series 21 wins, 12 losses

I've been saying all year that I thought VC was the most improved team in the TVC Ohio but Meigs has certainly made a case for that moniker as well with their play to this point.

Meigs will be loaded in the coming few years. So I look for this series to have a reversal in trends for the next 5 or so matchups.

I would have to give the edge to Meigs. After seeing both teams play Meigs is a better team then Nelsonville-York. I see Nelsonville-York only winning 2 more games. Alexander and Wellston. Good luck to both teams.

Meigs 28
Nelsonville 20
