Just checked Joe's site and Valley is #2 in reg. 21. I think this is a game they should win and do so by the score they did last season, if not by more.

League play and the quest for a third straight title begins. One series at a time, leads to winning one quarter at time, then one game at a time, and when the dust settles on the regular season another league title. Focus and execution matter the most.

This could be an ugly game for Waverly. I will be pulling for them, but I’m not as optimistic as I would like to be.

Indians take care of business as they open defense of the SOCII crown.

Valleys defense was just nasty last week. South point could not move the ball at all against the varsity. If they play like that the rest of the year no one will beat them. They played angry. Best tackling performance I have seen out of them. They came up and shut down the screens. I think this one gets ugly pretty quick.

Even as nasty as they where I still dont think Valley played as well as they did against Coal Grove but it does not matter they play like that and I agree no one will beat them in the SOC II .....

I would like to see Loop get a few more carries. The kid is a very hard runner. The defense last week played lights out. I noticed Valley has an open date on week 5 next year, so is the series over with south point?

Yeah this is valleys last year playing south point. I agree with loop getting more touches. I'm sure he would have if the varsity played more in the second half. The team as a whole is playing a lot better now. Rolfe is making the right reads and his accuracy is greatly improved. Special teams might be the best valley has ever had.

I don't know that I'm willing to say the special teams is the best we've ever had. I think it's definitely vastly improved overall and stronger than most years, but we used to have some excellent special teams play in some older years. Either way, I agree with you that it is a strength and that's a huge plus!! I also love the balance this team has had in the distribution of touches offensively. We have several weapons offensively and we made it into league play with all of those kids having proven they are as capable with the ball in their hands as their talent looked on paper coming into the season. I believe this team possesses something that some of the teams in recent past did not.....we have an offense that can score on anyone, to go along with a defense that can stiffen up and slow teams down (and get off the field when needed!), along with a special teams group that can change field position consistently and put points on the board. I believe this team is as close to complete as any recent group we've had........and it's also a senior heavy team, which should provide much needed leadership in the home stretch of the regular season as well as the playoffs! It's definitely ANOTHER exciting year to be a Valley fan!!
