Valley beat West 30-0 and now all of a sudden theres a good chance that West will go in and upset Valley at home...as much as I’d like to, I just can’t see that happening logically.
Portsmouth beat west by 2 touchdowns. Minford beat Portsmouth bad. West beat minford. Anything is possible

Irwin grew up a lot tonight. He's getting more confident. He's really coming up on run support at safety. He's getting tougher and that's what you need from your quarterback. Your right that was the play of the game. And that naked boot touchdown run looked like a vintage wheelersburg quarterback the way he sold the fake. Great

There are a more passes he can and needs to complete. It comes with confidence
I agree! Irwin really did a nice job tonight!
What????? Your comparing a WEST QB to a BURG QB? Blasphomy!!!!

Good luck to West next week!! Ur QB is good! If he can hit the quick outs and lead the receivers in stride, they can make a game of it. Cant rely on the running game. Valley is that good. Get the passing game going and get the good runners from west to punish the Valley interior line. Good luck!!

I really had my doubts about exactly how "good" Minford was this year, but I honestly didn't expect tonight's outcome. I read a couple posts asking about stats and I remember seeing demaniac asking about passing attempts by Minford.....per WNXT both teams had over 300 yards with Minford slightly out gaining West thanks to the yards they gained on the final play of the game. The radio had Stapleton of Minford with 9 completions on 25 attempts for around 175 yards. Clark (#12 from Minford that was mentioned) had 5 catches for 116 yards and at least 2 of those came in the 4th quarter after West led by 14. West ran the ball for well over 200 yards (I believe they were over 260) with Minford only gaining 168 yards on more than 40 attempts. The Falcons had 18 first downs and West had 14. Bricker led all rushers with I believe 122 yards.

I know Minford has smart kids but how can you have 5 false starts in a game when the offense knows the snap count. Also, Minford scored plenty of points to win the game, question is what happen to the defense? Minford was playing excellent defense first 5 games giving up 6 points a game. West must have found a weakness that must get fixed. We could not stop the sweep at all.

Minford has smart kids and they have strong kids, but they do not have mentally tough kids. This is do to their non- conference scheduling and it showed tonight. Shame on the AD for preparing these kids to face such a task against a 2-3 team. Playing the teams they do in the first 5 games is a result of this pathetic underachieving performance tonight. Probably a good though, to get them exposed in the first round of the league. They'll be better off, so they don't end up against a team like Kettering Alter, or any of the top 4 of Region 14 in the playoffs, and get humiliated in the first round yet again.

Let's just join the SOCI guys and maybe we can feel proud of beating: Symmes Valley, Green, Oak Hill, East and ND, but lets keep Rock Hill and Northwest on the schedule so we can feel good about being a D-4 team and going 10-0.

Nice job West, you were the only team on my upset list that pulled off the "W". Keep it up, trust me know one wants to play a confident, sider gritty, hit-em-in-the-mouth Portsmouth West team. In high school football, anything can happen, and grabbing some confidence is a dangerous (good) thing in any match-up.

Good luck with Valley and Burg.

Prior to game someone from Falcons said their team would wear down West line. . Falcons looked worn out to me.
West QB has improved on decision making, needs to be more accurate under pressure and quicker release but did a great job.
Overall West deserved the win. Good Luck Falcons the rest of the way!

Minford is overrated. They have not played anyone. They are big and slow. Wheelersburg with their skill kids will stomp them! If west cant cover the pass then they are in trouble also against the pirates. Good luck West against Valley.

25 passes? Are you kidding me? Get behind the best line in the Soc, quit listening to the experts up in the stands, and run the football!

West did an excellent job controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Siders filled the box and cheated everybody up and went one on one with the Falcons WR's and shot linebackers blowing up the backfield before plays got started. So the pass game was the best option trying to beat the one on one coverage. The problem was we have been so run oriented the past 5 games there was no chemistry yet between the QB and WR's when we were forced to pass.. I'm sure the falcons will regroup and finish out just fine.

all im going to say is Minford went away from what they know. we are a running team not a passing team and it was 29 attempts on the night. I cant recall Minford throwing that much in a season our linebackers were no where to be found last night taking bad angles on the sweep they ran 30 times! you have to know that's coming be instinctive and I never say anything about the coaching because I love our coaches but the play calling is what killed us. the first drive we RAN the ball down the field an scored. then we stop west and we pass the ball 3 times and punt then we stop them again and we pass the ball 3 times and punt. you cant do that when you go away from what you know you lose ball games. example west in the beginning of the year changed their defense and they realized its not what they know and went back to the 5-2 and are winning ball games again. if you want to be a spread team then go all in like burg did if youre going to be a running team then go all in with that. you only need to pass the ball between 5 n 10 times a game if youre a running team I believe. use what you have on the line and run the ball north n south. Minford can do two things 1. wake up and come out the rest of the games play their butts off and finish the season like the players can be or 2. fold and pack up. I hope its the first one still proud to be a Falcon!

The Falcons first possession was stopped on downs after a big open passes dropped. Then we held West and they punted and after several short runs the Falcons went deep and had a pass interference which moved the ball up then a sweep that was stopped then a big pass to Clark then run stopped then another big pass to Clark to about the five then we ran it in. The offense put up 28 points against a stacked run defense. The Falcons defense struggled and with Northwest this week will give time for adjustments. Keep fighting Falcons you'll be fine.

demaniac1 wrote:West sweep, sweep, sweep. Nothing up the gut. Minford is slow to the outside. Good film for other teams. Then West wore out the interior linemen and the quick hits up the gut worked cause the linebackers didn't know where to go. Classic. I just want to know if Minford passes that much early on or just felt like the siders couldn't cover? And Minford 1st Qtr drives, the penalties were killing them. Read thru the Ptown times and don't remember reading about so many false starts and procedure penalties. They were punishing the Siders early on but cant figure out why they quit pounding them with the counters and traps. Triplett did what a good coach should do, if u find a way to make them pay, keep doing it over and over till they stop you. Minford couldn't stop the sweep. Unbelievable.
Bingo !
