My take on minford is they try and do too much. They run plays that doesn't make sense. More of hey, we have a big play book let's show everyone. I think they try too hard to out coach everyone. Stick to the plays that work and keep running them.

marshallman wrote:I know Minford has smart kids but how can you have 5 false starts in a game when the offense knows the snap count. Also, Minford scored plenty of points to win the game, question is what happen to the defense? Minford was playing excellent defense first 5 games giving up 6 points a game. West must have found a weakness that must get fixed. We could not stop the sweep at all.

And look who they were playing. They should have held these teams to 6 points a game.

Rock Hill (0-5)
Grandview Heights (1-4)
Piketon (1-4) [
Portsmouth (2-3)
Oak Hill (4-1)

For those questioning the wing T go watch Clinton Massie win a state championship with it last year. And for anyone to run the spread takes superb athletes at about 6 different positions and I am pretty sure the Burg is the only team who can run that with success. West just had a better night is all, the sun came up today or the rain depending on where you are but the one thing I am pretty sure about Minford won't be playing week 11 now, they could not have any losses to get in in the first place and now they are staring 3 losses right in the face. Sux because I want all local schools to make it. And whoever was talking about the schedule I totally agree but I have asked a coach from Minford about that and he stated that they can't find anyone who will play them now so success does have its downfalls as well.

I watched Minford play Grandview and wasn't impressed, and was told 1 of those linemen is going to Louisville is this true?

I find that hard to believe....I'm certain Ironton would play Minford vs the schedule they have this year...        Maybe they aren't looking hard enough....

Correct and Clinton -Massie is a farming community up SR 73 between Hillsboro and Wilmington, Ohio, much like Minford. So it's a bunch of farm kids from Southwestern Ohio and they did win a State Championship in 2012 running the wing-t to a T.

The wing T when ran correctly with the 3-step motion is a very deceptive quick hitting offense, and is the most successful at the HS level.

As far as scheduling, I don't buy that either. There are plenty of winning programs who'd love to play Minford in the first 5 weeks. Gallia and Ironton are two that come to mind. In 2014, Rock Hill, South Point, and Northwest are all on the schedule.

Thanks Vladimir for basically just repeating what I had already said. And I don't even see where Minford has an opening. Why would I come on here and make up a lie about people not wanting to play them???? I am from West and am great friends with most of Minford coaches so I will keep getting my info from the horses mouth and not the ass!

Re: WEEK 6-MINFORD @ PORTSMOUTH WEST

Post by Jesco White »

I'm sorry but I just can't make the connection between Minford and Clinton-Massie right now. Maybe I'm not looking at it the same way, but my feeling is running the same system as a state championship caliber team and having the same talent as a state championship caliber team are two completely different things. Personally I feel like Minford is best suited to line up and run right at people behind those two huge (and talented) tackles, with the big backs they have. I just don't see the passing attack as being a primary weapon, nor do I see overall team speed as a huge asset to the Falcons. I think Minford's best athlete is playing quarterback, and he is most effective running the ball. I think all of those things limit the Falcons from a diversity standpoint, although I still think they are capable of having success. I guess what I'm trying to say is I personally don't believe their ceiling is as high this year with the resources/talent they have. I really don't say that as a knock against them. I felt going into the season that they had a 7-3 or 8-2 team, in terms of talent vs schedule and I still feel the same. I agree completely that the world didn't end due to the loss, but I also disagree about the Falcons success causing a lack of scheduling options. I'm sure coach Daniels and company will have them ready to play come next Friday night and I wish them luck.

But the one common denominator is we all want to be rid of the Rock hills and northwests of the world. I see Valley,West and the burg with multiple open dates but no Minford anywhere.

well if you can catch a coach away from the kids just ask them about the scheduling, again I don't have a dog in this fight so why would it even enter my mind if I didn't get it from a coach.?

bishop Hartley is open in week 1 in 2014 would be a great pick up for anybody actually. And I have already said it but West needs to pick up western brown, or Minford could pick them up as well.

Oh ok I see what you're saying. It's late and I'm tired, so it just took a few minutes.

That is my point as well is that Clinton Massie runs the Wing-T and is successful with it as to the posters who said the Wing-t is a predictable offense with no imagination. As far as scheduling and why you don't see Minford with any open dates, it because they filled them with Rock Hill, South Point, and Northwest for 2014. So they'll have 2 SOCI and 2 OVC teams for their non-conference.

I noticed Oak Hill has an open week 4, Minford could move Oak Hill there, and get Western Brown week 5.

Again I am probably going to get called a liar but while talking to a coach we discussed this new 7th division and how it killed Minford. They missed D-5 by like 6 boys so they really got hosed and now everyone they play is in a lower division and unless they can get into D-5 with everyone else they won't see the playoffs for a long time. Hope I am wrong but the numbers speak for themselves.

And Fido ironton has no openings either so not sure what u r trying to say but itown is no more, it doesn't strike fear into people anymore and yeah the young card has been played but we r 6 games deep now so kinda gotta just admit when u r bad u r bad. Again me being me hope I am wrong because like I said I want all the local teams to get in. Not sure how long the contracts are with St Charles,Hartley and Johnson Central but if you can pick up a couple teams in D-4 or D-5 you will be in a lot better shape.
