Logan and Athens renew rivalry in 2015
Logan has replaced Lancaster with Athens beginning in 2015. Glad to see the Dogs back. It was a great rivalry back when I was in school
Re: Logan and Athens renew rivalry in 2015
Also Logan has added Meigs in 2014 &. 2015. It's an old school SEOAL schedule!

Re: Logan and Athens renew rivalry in 2015
Good news. Heard this was in the works a few weeks ago.
Fortunate that Athens TVC bye week and Gallipolis' SEOAL bye weeks line up (week 6) so they can move their game to week 6 and open up week one.
Will be a great season opener in '15 and '16.
Really like opening with Athens and Teays Valley. Perhaps the addition of someone like Canal, Hamilton Twp, Bexley, etc. would be great for week three.

I guess this is for the best (sigh). Good gates for SE Ohio. But I miss the days not so long ago when we beat up on Lancaster to start the season then cruised to the playoffs. So we are officially leaving the state of Ohio for the state of SE Ohio,

Stop #2 ... walk down the street and plant on in my old pal's yard, Cole Ressler ...
Stop #3 ... go paint a big AHS where the hilltop use to be - just for old times sake ...
Stop #4 ... anyone know where Brian Lambert lives these days? ... wait, that may not be a good idea ... lol ... I'll work on #4 since I have some time to think about it ... to bad 2old doesn't live in Logan anymore, cause his yard would be first I'm sure.

Too bad they won't get the opportunity to try and teach Burrow, Williams, Luehrman and Luehrman how to fetch ... But, I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too - I'm just happy they are playing again.moonshine wrote:Now we get to remind the bullpuppies how to fetch!

Good timing for Logan, Athens will be competitive in 2015 but beyond that I have some doubts about what I have seen at the lower levels this year.

Sounds like a good time to revamp the coaching staff at OU. Those coaches have brought Athens some of the best players in school history!!93Bulldog wrote:Too bad they won't get the opportunity to try and teach Burrow, Williams, Luehrman and Luehrman how to fetch ... I think a two year window is hardly anything to base scheduling on.dazed&confused wrote:I guess this is for the best (sigh). Good gates for SE Ohio. The reality is that Lancaster was never really a good game for Logan. 2004 and 2005 were very competitive. 2006 and 2007 were absolute blowout losses. 2008 and 2009 were blowout wins. Everything since then have been blowouts (although 2010 was marginally close, but never in doubt).
The two Logan wins took a combination of two of Logan's best teams and two mediocre (at best) Lancaster teams.
Lancaster has been BAD the last 4 years and Logan hasn't come within two touchdowns.
Logan cruised to the playoffs in 2006 (in DI) and 2007 despite getting throttled by Lancaster. And would have been in the playoffs in 2005 if they had beaten a team like Teays Valley or Canal Winchester instead of losing to Lancaster.
Logan's biggest playoff success (again, in DI) came without Lancaster on the schedule. The game was a mismatch. Winning in 2008 and 2009 are two of my all time favorite wins.
Same goes for wins over Westerville South and Pickerington (pre-split) in 2000. But I don't want to see South or Pick Central on the schedule either.

Re: Logan and Athens renew rivalry in 2015
As an old Logan boy who grew up on the Hilltop I couldn't be happy to get Athens back on the schedule. Few things get my blood pumping like seeing the green and gold.
I remember back in 93dog's day, when the Bulldogs were formidable opponents, how hot the rivalry was both in football and in hoops. It was good stuff.
When I was in school the games weren't as competitive, but they still mattered - a lot. Remember the 'dogs going up 8-0 in like 2000 or 2001 on homecoming at Athens and thinking about how I couldn't wait to bury them. I think the final was like 62-16 or something.
Will never forget "the slip" in 2002 or "The Austin Rohr" game in 2003.
Also, let's be honest, part of me isn't sad Athens didn't get to play Logan post-Amyx. But I'm excited about the direction Coach Burke has the Chiefs on. He's restoring order. Should make for a good game in 2015. Athens will have something to prove post-Burrow and Logan should be ready to start competing for and SEOAL title.

Re: Logan and Athens renew rivalry in 2015
Lancaster was a solid nearby commitment, I foresee a scheduling headache in the future because if Logan starts beating Athens again after this current class leaves they will be off the schedule in a hurry, but if that's what the people want they got it. JMO And Locos I have to disagree with you on the 2007 game it was not a blowout, but the score was decpetive in that Lancaster scored Late when it was 17-7 and score again when the backkups were in so it was really competitve for 3 1/2 quarters the defense was playing tough that night.

One of my all-time favorite Logan teams. Last team on the Hilltop, deserved better against Tri-Valley.C-Bolt wrote:JMO And Locos I have to disagree with you on the 2007 game it was not a blowout, but the score was decpetive in that Lancaster scored Late when it was 17-7 and score again when the backkups were in so it was really competitve for 3 1/2 quarters the defense was playing tough that night.
But Logan mustered 85 yards of offense ALL NIGHT against Lancaster in '07. Lancaster led 14-0 at half, 17-0 after 3 quarters, and Logan's only score came on a 70-yard interception return. Defense was great. But if you can't score, you can't win.
Logan was about as competitive against Lancaster in '07 as they were against Loudonville on Friday.
I've seen much worse beat downs. But I never once thought Logan was going to win either night.
JMO.
The fact that THAT is considered a competitive game for Logan shows just how much Lancaster has dominated the last 10 years.

Don't be surprised to wake up in the morning and see a green-and-gold mailbox in your yard in August 2015 ... I'm going to C&E right now to purchase the spray paint; I'll let it sit here until its time to pay Locos Manor a midnight visit.
